Chapter 8 - Her heart wasn't beating.

Chapter 8 — Michelle's POV

The beautiful dark-haired woman my mother, Erin's mother smiled warmly at me.

> "My darling, let me take you to your room."

My room?

To think I had a room in this realm, a place I didn't even know existed.

I simply nodded and followed her down the long, glowing corridor.

The palace was breathtaking every corridor lined with gold, marble, and crystal lights. Even the air felt rich. As we walked, I noticed the maids staring, their faces frozen in shock. Clearly, they couldn't believe what they were seeing this body, their queen's body, alive and moving again.

Some of them began to weep. The sound broke my heart. I wondered what Queen Erin had done to deserve such deep devotion. I wasn't jealous just nervous. Whatever she had done, it had touched the lives of everyone in this realm.

According to Aunt Mona, Queen Erin had saved this world from someone called Nicolas, alongside a man named Daniel.

Apparently, they were heroes. And now that Aunt Mona had told me this was my original body… that meant I was Queen Erin.

To think I was once someone this powerful and respected why was I suffering in the werewolf realm? Why had I lived as a weak wolf, bullied and powerless? To think… I was a queen.

> "Queen Erin," one of the maids said between tears, "I'm so glad you're back! This is my brother—the one you saved when he was five during the Great War. He's all grown up now."

The young man bowed deeply.

> "Thank you for saving my life, Queen Erin. My sister has told me everything about you."

Soon, more and more servants approached, each thanking me for saving their relatives, their families, or even themselves.

I simply nodded, giving small smiles, replying, "It's fine. I'm back now."

But honestly, I was overwhelmed and tired.

After what felt like an endless walk, we reached my room. My mother smiled gently.

> "I'll leave you to rest, dear. I've already sent a maid to fill your tub so you can relax. I'm sure you have a lot on your mind."

She kissed my forehead, eyes full of love, before quietly leaving.

As soon as she was gone, I slumped onto the bed, exhausted. The room was stunning decorated in forest green and creamy white. Wow, Erin had taste. From the curtains to the wardrobe, everything was elegant and balanced.

Dragging myself up, I walked to the bathroom and stopped short.

It was magnificent. Polished marble floors, gold fixtures, and a bathtub big enough for three people. Was this heaven? Everything here was too perfect. It almost felt wrong. Shouldn't there be at least one bad thing?

I sank into the warm tub, letting the water ease my muscles. My thoughts drifted back to my brother.

He must be panicking by now. And Kate… she's probably blaming herself.

I clenched my fists under the water.

I needed to get stronger and fast. Aunt Mona said I could return to the Werewolf Realm whenever I wanted, but first, I had to be ready. I didn't want another tragedy to happen, not there.

After my bath, I stepped out, wrapping myself in a towel. But the sight before me froze me in place.

Right on the wall was a large framed painting me and Levi locked in a close, intimate embrace.

"What the hell is this…?" I whispered, heart pounding.

"How can I be in such a position with Levi? And why is his picture even here?"

I rubbed my temples, frustration burning inside me.

"Can someone please tell me what's going on?" I muttered to myself.

> "What do you mean you haven't seen her in three days?!"

Kate's voice was sharp with panic. "She left my house just before dark she said she didn't want to be late, I even asked if I could walk her to your house she said she was fine."

"I don't understand…" Micha replied, pacing. "I didn't call because I thought you two were hanging out. It wasn't until today when Zaki asked about her that I realized something was off. I thought she was at your place. Where did she go?"

"It doesn't matter," Kate said quickly. "We just have to find her. Have you tried calling?"

"Yes, but her phone's off. It's not going through. I'll call you back someone's at the door."

Micha hung up and opened the door only to see Levi standing there.

> "What are you doing here?" Micha asked, voice tense.

"I'm sorry," Levi said quietly. "I just wanted to check on Michelle."

Micha's eyes narrowed. "Check on who? Michelle? And what gives you the right? Didn't you reject her?"

"I didn't reject her," Levi said firmly.

"Oh please," Micha scoffed. "You didn't accept her either. You marked that spoiled brat with no sense. Everyone knows how cruel our Luna Clara is how she treats the omegas. And you still—"

"I heard your conversation with Kate," Levi interrupted. "I can trace Michelle's scent with my wolf. I just need you to come with me."

Micha hesitated. "No need. I'll do it myself."

"You can't," Levi replied, his tone darkening. "I'm her mate. I know her scent better than my own. It might've faded but I'll still find it."

After a moment of silence, Micha finally gave in reluctantly.

> "Fine. Let's go."

They tracked her scent deep into the woods, circling for hours but finding nothing.

Then Micha suddenly stopped.

> "Wait. I think I know where she is. She should've told me she was coming here… I wouldn't have been this worried."

He led Levi to a hidden clearing a secret lair known only to a few.

From afar, a figure lay motionless on the ground, her body was not in a good shape , she looked beaten.

Levi's breath hitched. His wolf howled inside him, wild with panic.

The body Michelle's body was still. Her heart wasn't beating.

The forest fell silent.

Micha and Levi stared at each other in horror, both too afraid to face the truth.
