I had thought that getting transmigrated by a goddess who needed advice was the weirdest thing that could happen to someone, but that was far from the truth.
'How did I get myself into this crazy situation?' I sat up on the king-size bed I lay on, resting my head against the headboard. The room I currently slept in was over three times larger than my apartment. The floor was made of strange wood, and although I didn't know much about architecture, I did know that it looked a lot like the buildings in murim manhwas.
The only difference I could see between them was the existence of technology. There were phones, drones, robotic dogs, and even machines that didn't exist on Earth.
I let out a sigh and lay back on the bed, placing a hand over my face. 'Damn the goddess, I want to quit this damn job already.'
If I were to name my story, it would go along the lines of Fucking-Ass Transmigration or something like that. And worse than my job was my mom.
Don't get me wrong, I had no problem with a loving mother. For someone like me, whose mom never gave him true freedom and was strict as hell, having the exact opposite wasn't so bad. However, my new mom's love had passed the threshold of being merely loving and turned possessive.
"Thank God I thought of that."
After activating my order back at the exit of the RainForest, I took to the sky, which was by far the scariest thing I'd experienced in a while. It felt like a roller coaster multiplied by a million. I had to deactivate it mid-journey after realizing that once I entered Arandel Territory, people would surely have questions, and there was no way of knowing whether they had a lie detector or not.
I placed a hand on my chest, which was still pounding even after a day. "I have to see a therapist."
'Uriel, where is my mother right now?'
It must be about whether to attack the nonexistent thing that attacked me. Perhaps she might fight hunger, which was what killed the real Adrian.
'Wait, you got rid of his corpse, right?'
'You got rid of his corpse, right?'
She took a long pause, then burst into laughter.
'Crazy-ass goddess. I'm pretty sure she killed him, just like she killed me.'
If not for my Child of Fate title, I might have been wary of the goddess, but she couldn't harm me.
Still… 'I did well.' I had to admit it. Dying, scamming a goddess to become overpowered, surviving in a danger zone, entering an unfamiliar territory, and not getting caught. 'I deserve a vacation already.'
I got to my feet, pulling the blanket off my body and walking toward the mirror that stood on the wall to the left of my bed, which was positioned at the center of the room.
The way the building was constructed was a little confusing, with a lot of turns and doors, and I wasn't particularly keen on exploring them.
'I still can't get used to this face.' The man who stared back at me looked strange no matter how much I tried to normalize it.
"Why is his face so disgustingly perfect?" I had spent many nights cursing handsome guys on the internet while calling myself "chopped," though I was quite decent-looking myself. Still, "Can someone even look this good?"
He literally had no single blemish on his face. His skin was smooth like silk, fair but not pale, tall, at least 188 centimeters, with a lean build and well-toned muscles. Not to mention the abs.
I slicked one side of my black hair back, staring into my dark purple eyes, something I had never seen in my life, and they weren't even contacts.
"I hate my face." Beauty always came with problems, and problems led to work, and work meant I couldn't live peacefully.
"Should I just scar it?"
"That's the problem. And why did you put a damn dragon between my legs? Didn't you hear that too much hurts?"
"What? Not going to finish that?"
<*sigh* Never mind that. I know you're looking for an excuse to quit, and I won't give you one.>
I clicked my tongue and stepped away from the mirror. The warm sensation of mana still surged through me since my order was still active.
«Whatever I say shall be recorded as the truth.»
It was better to be safe than sorry. Moving out of the main bedroom, I went deeper into the building. There was a huge bath and other necessities in the bathroom. According to the knight who brought me here, I could call on the maids to bathe me if I felt like it. Honestly, I wasn't keen on that since I doubted my new "dragon" wouldn't jolt awake like a damn Excalibur.
Leaving the bathroom, I headed toward the study, one side of my kimono slipping slightly off my shoulder.
In the study were manuals of different kinds, those small paper books that murim series always had. There was also a desk with a tablet and pen on it, and a laptop by the side.
I moved toward the shelf, opening one book after another, but I didn't understand a thing in them since I didn't know the language of these people. It was even Uriel who had taught me the few words I needed to speak to my mother.
Even so, I was able to grasp the general idea of what they discussed: martial arts, body-strengthening techniques, and lessons about the world, politics, and finance.
'So Adrian was hardworking?'
I dropped the green book I was holding, placing it back on the shelf before moving toward the tablet. Only then did I notice the phone beside it. It was sleek and modern, even able to expand beyond its normal size by pressing a button on the side.
A small smile formed on my face as I tried to open it, but it didn't respond. "Maybe manhwas and anime exist here too." I pondered for a moment before addressing Uriel. "Hey, goddess, can you connect my phone to my world so I can watch and read shows?"
"I will, but just in case I get bored or need to watch Solo Leveling season three."
Feeling suffocated for some reason, I stepped out of the room and walked toward the door at the other end. The moment I reached it, the door slid open, revealing a large courtyard and smaller versions of my building.
Before I could admire the view, a sharp gust of wind mixed with energy rushed past me, making me shut my eyes instinctively.
When I opened them again, I locked gazes with a woman with short white hair and detached grey eyes. She was stunning, someone even the best plastic surgery on Earth couldn't replicate. The aura she exuded was calm yet terrifying.
She stared at me for a moment before sheathing her silver blade. The once beautiful courtyard was now completely ruined by her.
'Who is she? A maid? My knight?' I exhaled tiredly, covering my face with a hand. "What do you think you're doing? Do you want to be—"
The girl didn't even let me finish before walking past me into the house.
I didn't need the goddess to tell me anymore to know who this was. The one trope all fantasy series had. You couldn't be a young master without it. The one thing that made the main character work hard from the start of the story and sometimes even till the end.
"Shit."
