The next morning, sunlight streamed into the quiet hospital corridor. Mei Xiaotong leaned casually against the vending machine, arms crossed, a smug smile tugging at her lips as Lu Jingyan approached, a tired look on her face after a long night.
The door to the hospital ward opened and Mei Xiaotong walked in with a bold smirk across her face
"Well, well, the lioness returns. Heard you breathed fire at your mother-in-law yesterday. Bold of you, Jingyan."
Lu Jingyan said calmly "I simply told her the truth." Lu Jingyan rolled her eye
"Mm-hmm. Truth with a side of attitude. But funny, because rumor has it that after Madam Leng left, someone almost fainted from the stress. Or was that just low blood sugar?" Mei Xiaotong said mockingly to her friend
Lu Jingyan's expression flickered, but she stayed composed.
"I stood my ground. That's more than I can say for people who talk behind backs but bow when power walks in."

The silence between them thickened before Mei Xiaotong scoffed and ent to seat down.
"So what did Leng Xuanmo say?" Mei Xiaotong asked
"Xuanmo? I never told him anything" Lu Jingyan said
"Girl, girl. A lot happened between you and your mother in law and you didn't think of telling your husband. What if she said you bullied her?" Mei Xiaotong asked
"I will just stand my ground and stand up for myself" Lu Jingyan said
"Baby. You will marry into wealth. You need to be the white lotus and let your husband stand up for you" Mei Xiaotong
"What did you mean?"
"You told your husband you needed a back support and he was ready to give you. And now you had a clash with your mother in law you need to play the white lotus so he can protect you well" Mei Xiaotong said
"White lotus? Isn't the act of the scheming woman in all the k drama?" Lu Jingyan asked
"And the white lotus will want to take the male lead into her embrace leaving the female lead into despair. Baby you need to be the white lotus" Mei Xiaotong said
"The white lotus at the end of the day lose the make lead while the female lead get the male lead at the end of the movie" Lu Jingyan said
"So which one did you want to portray?" Mei Xiaotong asked
"The female lead" Lu Jingyan said
"Why?"
"In all the k drama the female lead are always strong and defiant. So I am the female lead who won't allow anyone bully her or the ones around her"
"But the white lotus enjoy more than the female lead " Mei Xiaotong said
"That why it is called the white lotus. No harm done but the female lead they go through all kinds of suffering and still emerged victory" Lu Jingyan said
"Whatever. No matter which character you wanna play. Just know that I am the best friend who helps at the back of the curtain" Mei Xiaotong said as the both of them burst into laughter.
The tall figure who stood by the door heard all the two best friend said and didn't know when the smile crept on his face
"Are you going in?" Leng Yumo asked her elder brother
"No. Let her meet me at home" Leng Xuanmo said as he turn to leave the hospital
