This is not just Obito's opinion. Even Might Guy, who thinks he has a will as solid as iron and stone, once expressed that if it were up to him to do the tasks, he would rather train for a day.
"The training is simple: just avoid my attacks. You can use any means, whether it's the Sharingan or using ninjutsu to attack me, it's all allowed.
If you get hit, you have to do two tasks. Successfully dodging once cancels out two tasks. If you fail to dodge at all by the end, the tasks will increase by ten percent." Mokgetsu said with a smile, explaining the training rules.
"Teacher Mokgetsu, to what extent will you control your strength? If you go all out, how could we possibly dodge your attacks?" Obito asked.
The gap between them and Mokgetsu was too large. If Mokgetsu went full speed, they wouldn't even be able to see his shadow, so how could they dodge?
"It's a Shadow Clone that will train with you. The Shadow Clone won't have much Chakra, and will be about your level. As long as your Breathing Technique improves slightly, you'll be able to dodge." Mokgetsu nodded with a smile.
"Additionally, the training will last for six minutes. Within those six minutes, my Shadow Clones will launch attacks at any time." Mokgetsu announced the time limit.
This training was not only to enhance their explosiveness but also to make them more enduring.
The essence of the Breathing Technique's Constant State is just that, to make the breathing more focused, while also extending the duration of the technique, aiming to achieve a Full Concentration state all day long.
"It actually lasts a full six minutes!" Obito couldn't help but exclaim, feeling as if a mountain of papers was coming his way.
"We must successfully dodge at least once, or it would be a huge loss," Obito thought silently.
Obito was experienced with such things; don't underestimate that ten percent. If you accumulate a hundred tasks, you'll end up with ten more out of nowhere. If you can't finish them and have to do them in installments, you'll gain ten more unexpectedly.
Shisui didn't feel much about it. Doing tasks was no big deal; his exams were always full marks without much effort.
"Shadow Clone Jutsu!" Mokgetsu quickly formed seals and created two Shadow Clones.
"You can enter Full Concentration Breathing state now. Training will start in five seconds, five, four..."
"Breath of Flame, Full Concentration Breathing!" Both Obito and Shisui entered their Breathing Technique states, and Obito even activated his Sharingan directly, his eyes turning blood-red, with two black tomoe spinning within.
"Two, one, training begins!"
Mokgetsu's two Shadow Clones rushed out, attacking Obito and Shisui separately.
Obito could observe through the Sharingan that Mokgetsu indeed controlled his speed, and there was no significant increase.
While running, he pulled out a large number of shuriken from his Ninja Pouch and hurled them at Mokgetsu without aiming, hoping to slightly disrupt him.
Even though it was a Shadow Clone, Obito's little trick didn't disturb Mokgetsu at all, who simply used Wind Release to blow the shuriken back. As a result, Obito's movement speed temporarily decreased while dodging the returning shuriken.
Slap!
Mokgetsu's Shadow Clone tapped Obito's forehead with precision.
"Two tasks," Mokgetsu's Shadow Clone said with a chuckle.
"I messed up, I should have focused on running," Obito realized he made the wrong decision.
"Since I have the Sharingan, maybe I should try to dodge head-on?" Obito decided to trust in the power of his Sharingan.
Obito concentrated his breathing, focusing all his attention on Mokgetsu's two hands.
"I can see it, maybe it will work!" Discovering he could track Mokgetsu's attack trajectory, Obito felt secretly pleased.
Slap!
A clear tapping sound echoed as Mokgetsu's finger tapped Obito's head again, this time on the side, leaving the trying-to-dodge Obito stunned.
"Damn it, just a little bit more and I would have dodged it!" Obito felt a bit unwilling.
Undeterred, Obito wanted to keep trying.
Slap!
"Six tasks," Mokgetsu's Shadow Clone said leisurely.
Whoosh!
Obito took off running; although he wanted to try again, one mistake meant two tasks, and Obito didn't want to endure that painful consequence.
"What a strange technique, it's impossible to feel the move coming." On the other side, Shisui was caught due to the dense trees preventing a sprint, and Mokgetsu tapped him as well.
Although he didn't mind doing tasks, fewer tasks meant better training results, so of course, Shisui wanted fewer tasks. Hence, Shisui too activated his Sharingan, turning his eyes blood-red.
Slap!
Shisui watched as Mokgetsu's finger intensely tapped his head.
"I can't dodge, the attack speed is just barely faster than my dodging speed," Shisui immediately determined that it was impossible to dodge Mokgetsu's attacks under normal circumstances.
"It must be Teacher Mokgetsu deliberately maintaining this speed," Shisui speculated internally.
There couldn't be so many coincidences of being just slightly quicker; it's probably meant to apply pressure for them to push through.
Having realized this, Shisui quickly maneuvered to create distance between himself and Mokgetsu.
When the six minutes of training ended, Mokgetsu announced the results:
"Obito got hit a total of twenty-five times, dodged zero times, and with the penalty for not dodging, you'll have to do fifty-five tasks."
When Obito heard the number fifty-five, he almost blacked out on the spot. A short six-minute training brought him an unknown amount of time's worth of pain.
"Shisui got hit a total of twenty-one times, dodged zero times, and needs to do forty-six tasks." Mokgetsu continued with Shisui's results.
Shisui also didn't manage a breakthrough in his Breathing Technique, but being a bit more cautious, his tasks were slightly fewer.
"Whew, I still couldn't dodge the attacks," Shisui exhaled, slightly disappointed.
Mokgetsu smiled without a word; after all, he'd even used the Transparent World, so as long as they don't break through, there's no chance of success in dodging.
He was actually letting them off easy; he didn't attack much in the beginning either. Primarily, Shisui and Obito didn't have endurance, their state dropped significantly after five minutes, and most tasks were accumulated in the last minute.
If he didn't strike when they slowed down so much, it would be too obvious he was holding back, and training definitely couldn't be that way.
"Take a break, then start regular training. The day after tomorrow, there will be another training session like this, so train hard," Mokgetsu said with a gentle smile.
"Another session the day after tomorrow!" Obito felt like doom had arrived, as if countless exam sheets were already weighing on his shoulders.
"Breathing Technique, hurry up and get stronger," Obito prayed internally as he resumed training after some rest.
On this day, Obito devoted himself entirely to cultivating the Breath of Flame, striving to maintain a Full Concentration Breathing state, keeping the Breathing Technique active even with little stamina, until he was completely exhausted.
Shisui's seriousness was no less than Obito's. Failing to successfully dodge even once left Shisui very dissatisfied with himself.
He was Mokgetsu's first disciple and the strongest one, undefeated in internal competitions among Mokgetsu's disciples, so his progress should be leading.
"At least I must successfully dodge once!" Shisui said silently to himself.
By the end of training, Obito and Shisui were so exhausted that they couldn't even stand. They repeatedly maintained the Breathing Technique until fatigue, then rested, then trained until fatigue again.
"Obito, are you alright? Today's your birthday, isn't it a bit much to train so hard?" Nohara Rin asked worriedly as she saw Obito slumping against a tree.
"Oh right, today's my birthday," Obito suddenly remembered. He'd spent the day dreading the tasks, forgetting about the birthday celebration.
"I'm okay, just need some rest," Obito reassured, indicating it wasn't a big deal. It wasn't his first day doing Constant State cultivation.
At dinner time, Mokgetsu gathered the disciples at Obito's house to celebrate his birthday.
