Chapter 252 - Chapter 143: Mokgetsu's Gift

"It's quite rare, today is surprisingly lively," Obito's grandmother said with a cheerful smile, noticing so many friends coming over to celebrate Obito's birthday.

"Hello, my name is Habu Mokgetsu. I am Obito's teacher," Mokgetsu greeted Obito's grandmother with a smile.

"Grandma, Teacher Mokgetsu is really nice to me. My grades improved so much thanks to his excellent teaching," Obito said from the side.

"Thank you so much, Teacher Mokgetsu, for your help. Let me pour you a cup of tea," Obito's grandmother expressed her gratitude and prepared to get up to pour tea for Mokgetsu.

"Grandma, just sit down, I'll do it," Obito quickly poured everyone a cup of tea, with Kakashi being no exception.

"I'm sure Obito hasn't made it easy for you, Teacher Mokgetsu. I've watched Obito grow up; sometimes he indeed drops the ball, but he doesn't mean to. Obito has a very kind heart," Grandma said with her eyes squinting and a smile.

"It's actually okay; Obito puts in a lot of effort in all aspects and is indeed very kind. He's a student I'm proud of," Mokgetsu complimented with a smile, taking a sip of tea afterward.

Before he became a neurotic, Obito really could be described as warm-hearted and kind.

"Grandma!" Obito couldn't help but exclaim. What did she mean by dropping the ball? He was clearly very reliable.

"I remember when Obito was three years old, he was still..."

"Grandma, didn't you leave some clothes outside to dry and forgot to bring them in? Let's go get them together before it rains," Obito, with cold sweat streaming down his forehead, quickly said, fearing that if it were said, he would have to learn Earth Release and dig a hole to hide.

"Seems I did forget something," Obito's grandmother thought for a moment and realized she indeed might have forgotten.

"I can go by myself. Obito, you stay here and chat with your teacher and friends," Grandma said with a cheerful smile.

Obito initially wanted to help, but Grandma refused repeatedly. Thinking the clothes were just in the yard, he followed Grandma's words, sat back down, and continued chatting with everyone.

"What exactly happened when you were three?" Might Guy rubbed his chin, showing a deep sense of curiosity.

"Nothing much, just that I hadn't learned to write by the age of three," Obito casually replied.

"I always felt that Obito and his grandma have a great relationship, their everyday life must be really warm," Nohara Rin said softly with a smile.

"Hehe, well, it's Grandma who raised me, after all," Obito scratched his head with a silly grin.

Kakashi originally wanted to pursue what Obito was doing at the age of three, as Obito's answer felt pretty perfunctory to him, but decided to let it go for now since it was Obito's birthday. He planned to ask when the time was right.

Shisui found it a bit hard to engage in this topic as he wasn't raised by direct relatives; all his grandparents and parents weren't around when he started to have memories.

"Obito, do you want to guess what gifts everyone has prepared for you?" Mokgetsu smiled and said, noticing the silence from Shisui and Kakashi.

Whether the ninja world was too harsh or they were just unlucky, among them, four people had lost both parents, Might Guy had a father but no mother, and only Nohara Rin had both parents alive.

"Guy, yours is probably a bodysuit," Obito started by guessing Might Guy's, the easiest.

"I knew it! Obito, you guessed it right!" Might Guy exclaimed in shock.

"It's because you always like to give them, Guy," Kakashi couldn't help but comment. Ever since meeting Might Guy in school, he often saw him in that green bodysuit, getting a larger size as he grew taller.

"Was it really?" Might Guy scratched his head, pondering.

Since Kakashi had already pointed out the obvious, Obito moved on to guess the next person's gift.

"Rin, yours might be a flower you grew yourself?" Obito asked somewhat uncertainly.

"Nope," Nohara Rin shook her head, indicating that Obito guessed wrong.

"Could it be a handmade craft?" Obito continued to speculate.

"That's too broad, you can't guess like that," Nohara Rin laughed and shook her head again.

"Forget it, I can't guess it. I'll just wait and see what Rin gives me," Obito scratched his head, deciding to guess the next person's gift.

"Shisui, is your gift related to training?" Obito first asked.

"There's no connection," Shisui responded with a slight shake of his head.

"Could it be a notebook with cultivation experiences?" Obito thought aloud, considering Shisui's exceptional talent.

"No, for that, you might as well ask Teacher Mokgetsu directly," Shisui continued to deny Obito's guess.

Again not getting it right, Obito felt a headache coming on. He switched to the next person, asking Kakashi:

"Kakashi, your gift definitely has to do with training, right?"

"It has nothing to do with training," Kakashi calmly responded.

Obito felt his head itch, wondering why things weren't going as he thought. Kakashi and Shisui were supposed to be practical, yet he kept guessing wrong.

"Aren't you going to guess my gift?" Mokgetsu asked with a chuckle.

"No, no, it feels too hard to guess. I'll just keep it as a surprise," Obito gave up guessing gifts, but this experience made him more eager to see what everyone's gifts would be.

Next was preparing dinner. Although Obito's grandma insisted that Mokgetsu, as a guest, didn't need to help in the kitchen, Mokgetsu successfully persuaded her and took charge of cooking some dishes. Other disciples helped as much as they could, with Kakashi, who could cook, assisting with the food preparation, and those who couldn't do anything helped with washing vegetables and dishes.
