šŸ“˜ Chapter 9

By late afternoon, Pirates of the Caribbean's sales had already exceeded ten thousand copies.

Matthias Engel sat in front of his computer, watching the rapidly increasing backend data, feeling very relieved.

Every sale and every minute of playtime provided game currency for his Game Producer System.

Player emotions were also extremely important.

Currently, emotions had already provided him with tens of thousands of game currency.

With so much game currency, he no longer had to worry about the cost of future productions.

Even if he messed up a few more games, he could still continue.

Could he mess up? That was impossible.

Seeing the playtime data in the backend, as a game producer, he felt extremely happy.

So many people were willing to pay for his game, proving that over a month of hard work was worth it.

As evening approached, Lena Morgen opened her live stream again.

Thousands of viewers instantly flooded into her live stream, with more continuously joining.

Matthias also entered the live stream after Lena started, to watch her play.

@GameWatcher: "Leni is finally live!"

@SleeplessFan: "I've been waiting so hard."

@CoffeeCrew: "How did you sleep, Leni?"

@SeaDreamer: "I can't wait to watch you play Pirates of the Caribbean; it's boring watching others play."

Lena drank a cup of coffee and then clicked on Pirates of the Caribbean.

Since waking up, her mind had been on this game; as a former shut-in, games were her spiritual nourishment.

"Alright, babies, today I'm buying a ship and heading out to sea!"

The screen flickered, and Lena re-entered the game world.

It was still Port Barbados, where her female pirate character, Leni, stood on the beach.

Last night, she had defeated many high-level sea turtles, and her level had already reached ten. Once she sold the turtle shells to the general store owner, she would have two hundred gold coins.

Arriving at the general store owner, these turtle shells were exchanged for 16 gold coins.

"I have a total of 215 gold coins; I can buy the cheapest sloop! Babies, I'm going sailing!"

With an excited heart, Lena headed to the shipyard.

Passing through the center of the town, she noticed it was crowded with players.

Only then did she realize that many players had appeared in the town, a stark contrast to the emptiness of early morning.

As soon as Lena arrived, she was surrounded by a large number of players.

@FanOne: "Leni Sis, I'm watching your live stream!"

@HappyViewer: "Haha, hello, Leni Sis!"

@OnScreenNow: "Mom, I'm on TV!"

@PhotoHunter: "This game is so much fun, haha! And I can even take a photo with my idol!"

A player stood in front of Leni and used the game's built-in camera system to generate a digital group photo.

Lena was a bit curious about what so many people were looking at.

She approached and found it was the Port Barbados leaderboard.

The first place was held by "Shepi," whom she had encountered that day.

His level had already reached twelve, and he was shown to be in another area.

Second place was Lena, who was already level ten, and the third-place player was a guy named MC Zorro, who was already level nine.

"I'm definitely taking first place."

Lena became serious. She went to the shipyard and successfully purchased her first sloop.

This sloop was 12 meters long, with a pointed bottom, a mast supporting the main sail, and a jib fixed by stays. It was equipped with sheet ropes to adjust the sail angle.

It also included a cockpit with a dining area, helm, cannon positions, and living quarters.

Once the ship was launched, Lena realized a problem.

It seemed somewhat dangerous for her to sail this ship alone on a long voyage.

At this moment, the shipyard owner said, "I suggest you go to the sailor's quarter to recruit some sailors; hiring them is very cheap. You can also look around the town; perhaps there are some powerful pirates who also want to adventure at sea waiting to be discovered."

The owner's words enlightened Lena.

"Maybe there are hidden NPCs in this town waiting to be recruited; I'll go check again."

Lena arrived at the sailor recruitment area.

These sailors sat together, chatting and waiting to be recruited by a captain.

Lena approached a sailor and asked into her microphone, "Excuse me, which sailor is the strongest?"

"If you're talking about the strongest sailor, that would have to be Bob; he's very strong."

She asked several sailors, and they all recommended Bob.

So Lena found Bob, who was holding a tobacco pipe and reading a newspaper.

One could see his thick arms; he was definitely a strong sailor.

However, Lena didn't like that he smoked, and it wasn't good for streaming, as it could easily get her banned.

"Mr. Bob, I'd like to invite you to go on an adventure with me, but I hope you can give up smoking, is that possible?"

Bob glanced at Leni, then continued reading his newspaper: "Sorry, if the condition for joining is to give up smoking, then I'd rather not join."

Lena had no choice; the platform's live stream requirements were to promote positive and healthy energy, and smoking was not allowed. It was a great pity.

Just then, a mischievous short-haired female sailor walked over.

"Hello, I heard you're recruiting sailors. I wonder if I can join?"

A female sailor? Indeed, they were rare.

"Hmm, I am recruiting sailors. What can you do?"

"I'm a navigator; I can foresee various natural risks at sea, and steering is no problem for me."

A navigator? Although she had never sailed, Lena understood the role of a navigator for a team.

A navigator was like the team's brain; under the navigator's command, the ship could sail smoothly and avoid unnecessary risks.

Immediately, the female sailor displayed her panel.

She didn't know until she looked, and when she did, she was startled.

This female sailor, named Mina, was actually an epic-quality navigator, only one level away from the highest level, legendary.

The panel displayed Mina's various navigation skills, an epic unique NPC character.

The recruitment price was only 10 gold coins, an absolute steal.

"I've decided to recruit you, Mina. Here are 10 gold coins; keep them safe."

"Yay! That's great, I can go sailing too!" Mina danced with joy.

With Mina joining the team, Leni's confidence in sailing increased significantly.

Immediately after, she recruited two more ordinary sailors and returned to the sea, planning to set sail on an adventure and leave this Newbie town.

However, at this time, many players had gathered by the sea.

The third-ranked player, MC Zorro, had already purchased a sloop and recruited two ordinary sailors.

Their ship had already left the harbor.

Zorro was also a streamer, and after seeing Lena stream this game, he decisively joined the streaming ranks.

Zorro stood on the deck, waving back at everyone: "I'm leaving this newbie town and officially embarking on a journey across the sea. Brothers, see you at the top!"

The surrounding players sent blessings.

Just then, the sea surface shook.

A dark shadow emerged from under the ship, followed by a giant sea snake bursting out of the water, with red eyes and a gaping maw.

"Zorro, look behind you, monster!"

Zorro didn't need players to remind him; he saw it too.

Zorro turned and saw the sea beast, so startled that his mouse almost dropped to the floor.

"What the hell is that?"

No sooner had he spoken than the sea beast opened its bloody maw and bit into the sloop.

Zorro, along with his ship, plunged into the sea.

System Message: "You have been devoured by a sea beast. Please be careful in this area; sea beasts occasionally appear."

When his character revived, Zorro stood in the square, and a gust of wind blew, making him feel a chill.

He opened his panel to check:

"Your sloop has suffered severe damage. Repairs will cost 180 gold coins. It is recommended that you purchase a new one."

"Damn it!"

Not only was his ship gone, but his level had also dropped to nine.
