📘 Chapter 10
Matthias Engel, watching this scene in the live stream, almost burst out laughing.
He had felt that the Newbie Town lacked some excitement, so he added a sea beast that would occasionally appear when he was designing it.
This sea beast wasn't unbeatable; to defeat it, a team of level 20 or higher would probably need to cooperate.
So, at this point in time, the only options were to avoid that area or wait for the sea beast to leave.
The players by the sea, watching the scene that had just unfolded, mostly had a schadenfreude attitude.
@SaltedSquid: "Haha, Zorro failed before even starting!"
@EchoBlade: "I didn't expect such a thing to exist in the shallow seas; we need to be careful when sailing out."
@RenderGhost: "I think the appearance of this sea beast is regular; I didn't see it when Snake Skin sailed out this morning."
The appearance of a sea beast sparked a lively discussion among them.
Lena Morgen breathed a sigh of relief; if it had been her sailing out just now, she probably would have wasted her day's work.
Mina said, "Captain, we can sail out from another direction to bypass this sea beast."
"Alright, I'll listen to you."
Lena followed Mina's suggestion and departed from a port in another direction.
System Prompt: "Please select your Pirate Crew name."
"Let's call it 'Leni Pirate Crew'."
System Prompt: "Please select your Pirate Crew flag design. Designs can be uploaded."
Regarding designs, Lena had many options. She chose a cute headshot and added some embellishments to complete it.
System Message: "Congratulations, the 'Leni Pirate Crew' has been established! Recruit more talented individuals to join your Pirate Crew!"
"If your level reaches 20 and you achieve a certain reputation, you can create a Pirate Alliance."
A Pirate Alliance was a guild, and Lena was very familiar with that.
Lena and Mina, along with three other sailors, boarded the ship.
"Hoist the sails and set sail!" Lena declared spiritedly, standing at the bow.
She had waited a long time for this moment; she had even dreamed of this scene last night. Now, she could finally depart.
Many players on the shore waved to her.
@GoldCoinFan: "Leni Goddess, have a smooth journey!"
@SeaBreeze88: "Be careful!"
@KrakenKraze: "Don't you, sea beast, come out!"
Mina was in charge of steering, heading southwest.
Next stop: Cannonfire Town.
It was called Cannonfire Town because that town was famous for producing cannons.
The single-masted sailboat had one cannon emplacement on both its port and starboard sides, but the starting town did not sell cannons.
The sailboat moved further and further from the shore, allowing them to see the entire coastline.
The weather was good today, and the wind speed was just right.
Looking at the endless sea made one feel refreshed and relaxed.
"Mina, what kind of entertainment activities do you sailors usually have at sea?"
"Playing cards, and also fishing."
"Then I'll try fishing."
Lena took out a fishing rod, put on bait, and sat at the edge of the deck to start fishing.
The seawater rippled slightly.
In about ten seconds, Lena successfully caught a grouper.
She was very happy to have caught a fish.
After all, it was a game, and the difficulty of fishing was much simpler than in reality, which also added a lot of fun for players during their journey.
She fished while checking the world map.
The map only displayed Barbado Island and Cannonfire Town Island; the surrounding areas were unexplored shadows.
To find out the location of the next island, one had to ask an NPC for the island's coordinates. Asking players was also an option, but there were no players to ask right now.
The fish caught could be processed using the cooking skill.
Soon, a delicious grilled fish appeared.
Eating food could make a character reach a state of full vigor, and in this state, all attributes received a 10% bonus, lasting for three hours.
"This game is full of details," Lena exclaimed.
After eating the grilled fish, she continued fishing, and Mina also sat beside her with a fishing rod.
Mina dangled her legs and hummed a tune, looking carefree and joyful.
Suddenly, Mina's fishing rod dipped.
"I got a bite!"
Mina exclaimed, and started to pull the rod. It seemed a bit heavy, so it must have been a big fish.
"Captain Leni, help me, this fish is a bit big!"
Lena clicked on Mina with her mouse, activating the two-person cooperative fishing mode.
The two of them pulled the fishing rod, one in front and one behind, looking quite comical.
The viewers in the live stream were also amused by this scene.
@TreasureTroll: "Haha, will they catch a shark?"
@VoiceForge: "One in front, one behind. If the one behind were a man, I can't even imagine the scene."
@CaptainCynic: "Two men would be even more cringe-worthy."
With their combined effort, it took a full minute to pull it up.
After pulling it up, Lena was stunned. It wasn't a fish; it was a sparkling treasure chest.
System Message: "Congratulations! You have obtained a rare treasure chest. Opening it guarantees a rare item."
"Item qualities are: Common, Excellent, Rare, Epic, Legendary."
"Yay! It's a treasure chest!" Lena danced with joy.
She had fought so many monsters, and the best equipment she had gotten was of excellent quality. She didn't expect to fish out something of rare quality.
She rubbed her hands and clicked to open the treasure chest.
A blue light flashed, revealing a flintlock pistol with exquisite patterns.
Item: Flintlock Pistol
Quality: Rare
Level: 10
Attack: 31 ~ 39
Effect One: Attack inflicts 20% bleeding effect, lasting 5 seconds.
Effect Two: Attack inflicts 10% armor penetration effect.
"Great, it's a pistol!"
Lena eagerly equipped the new pistol and checked her stats; her attack power had doubled.
In the early game, a good weapon could make leveling up much easier.
"Mina, you're practically my lucky star!"
Lena made an expression of hugging Mina, and Mina also looked very happy.
Why was Mina able to fish out a treasure chest?
Opening Mina's character panel again, Lena found that one of her traits was called: Treasure Hunter, which had a chance to discover high-level treasure chests.
"So it's a trait, no wonder."
It turned out that recruiting an Epic-grade crew member had so many benefits.
Each island had more or less a few hidden NPCs, but Epic-grade NPCs and Legendary-grade NPCs were very rare.
Matthias Engel had arranged such an Epic-grade NPC in Barbado Town, and Lena had fortunately acquired her.
Matthias, watching the live stream, was also happy for Lena.
Seeing her happy, as the producer, he also felt satisfied.
After an hour of sea travel, Lena finally saw the coastline of Cannonfire Town.
An hour sounded a bit long, but the actual experience was very interesting, not boring at all.
During this time, she interacted with the audience in the live stream, doing all sorts of interesting things, and her popularity soared.
Looking from afar, Cannonfire Town was shrouded in thick smoke.
That was the sign of an industrial town. She wondered what interesting things she would encounter here.
