Aria's POV
Screech. The brake sounded disastrous. We just got into the driveway of his home. His house… it's so biggggg!Nice, but…
"Oow!" I shouted as he suddenly pulled the handbrake. On top of that, the car was almost speeding wildly, and my head… was just a few centimeters away from becoming a pancake with blood over it.
"Crazy!" I said, then looked up.
A tall man was standing there, wearing formals. By his clothing and the papers he held—which had the national stamp on them—anyone could guess he was a lawyer.😶
Wait! A lawyer? Why? Did Lucian kill someone, or maybe kidnap someone?😆
"Wait here and don't step out unless I allow you to," Lucian said with authority.😮Looking at his face, I could tell he was either afraid or anxious after seeing the lawyer.
END OF ARIA'S POV
Lucian's POV
Why? Why is he here?Stephen… what does this guy want from me?But first, how did he even know my address?
"Hello, Mr. Valle," Stephen said, extending his hand, probably for a handshake.
"Hello," I replied, clearly avoiding his hand. But he didn't bother; instead, his gaze was fixed on my car—or probably on…
"Girlfriend, huh? She looks beautiful!" he smirked, looking at me again.
"Don't bother trying to know who she is," I replied, frustrated.
"Mr. Valle, I hope you read your mother's will box. I gave it to you, and you probably remember who I am?" he said, staring at me, clearly waiting for an explanation.
I chose to go straight to the point. "Why should I even tell you that? Huh! Don't expect the best of both worlds!" I replied, controlling my anger.
Probably this shameless guy understood what I meant by "best of both worlds." He smirked. I wanted to punch him hard in the face, but—
"Come on, mister! Is there a serious problem? If not, please leave!" Aria said, stepping in front of Stephen before slamming the car door.
Phew! It didn't break! This girl… not too different from Sophie.🤣
"Miss, nice to meet you," Stephen said, taking Aria's hand and trying to kiss it!
I pulled her back. "I told you, do not step out of the car unless I instruct! Are you deaf?" I shouted.
"Yeah, I am!" she replied—and pushed me.
"Miss, I'll take my leave," Stephen said.
"Go away!!!" I shouted and pushed him.
He balanced soon and went away.
"Are you a monster? Don't you know how to be polite?" she shouted.
"Why? Why should I be polite? He betrayed my mom!" I shouted back. My voice echoed, sending a shiver down her spine, which I could clearly see😐.
"He-he did what?" Aria asked.
"I'm not sure, but I feel like he is the reason. He is betraying her!"😮 I replied.
"Let's go. We need to practice," I said, trying to change the topic. I didn't want to talk about it again. But it's true—I know this filthy man is up to something.
"Welcome back, sir!" my maid greeted me as she turned toward the door. She looked confused—probably because I never brought a girl home. Never means never… maybe.
"She is my friend," I said instantly when I noticed my maid smirking.🤨
"Listen! Please take her to the study. I'll come after taking a shower," I said, calling Miss Era. She is my caretaker and has looked after me since my mom died.
"Yes, sir," she replied.
After my shower, I went to the study. Wait! Where is she? Did she run away?
"Aria!" I shouted.
"Sir, madam is in the garden,😏" Era replied.
"What? Madam? Don't dare to say that again. Her name is Aria🤣!" I said.
She laughed and went away.
I went to the garden. There she was… her hair loose, reaching her waist. She looked like a fairy in the garden!❤
"Hey! Are you okay?" she asked, coming toward me.
At this moment, I felt calm, relieved, and less stressed.
"Yeah… okay," I replied, and this time my lips curled into a smile. A real one—not forced.😉
"See! You smiled, but sometimes you force yourself not to smile and stay cold," she said.
"Yeah, probably. But I have my reasons," I replied.
"Let's get to know more about each other," she asked.
Maybe I should share my problem with someone to relieve it. "Yeah, okay," I said.
I narrated the whole story I remembered from when I was in Wenming Hospital.
As I finished, I looked at her. She waited and then started, "I actually never met my mom and dad. I am an orphan. My grandma adopted me, but I struggled. I gave almost 20 scholarship exams just to make sure my grandma wouldn't be burdened with my education. She couldn't afford it. After reaching 10th grade, I applied for a high scholarship exam. I am good at studies, so I easily scored above 90% and was transferred here," she replied, avoiding eye contact.
I could feel it… she had worked so hard to make her education count.
"Should I drop you?" I asked, changing the topic.
"Fine," she replied.
We went inside, but wait… what is this?😮
