Three years have passed since the day that Ryoken appeared in the Fusion dimension, beginning his new life and adjusting to it.
During this time many things have changed, one being that he is now 15 years old. The age where he could attend the Duel academy and begin the first part of his plan.
The plan was simple, get into the academy, share the joy of dueling, steal some equipment from them especially the dimension traveling ones, share the joy of dueling again, And lastly if he was lucky enough, challenge the Egghead to Duel.
Putting that matter aside, he had upgraded the warehouse he was using as his base with items he bought from the system, even adding a basement with a tunnel route in case he needed to evacuate and escape.
From the yearly offers, he managed to buy a skill called (Card Modifier), Which allowed him to modify and change a cards effects and stats by spending Appropriate points equal to the Change.
Let's say for example we have an Ultra Rare card like Envoy of the beginning, if he wanted to remove the side effect of not being able to attack when it banished a card, he had to pay up 150 UR points, equal to crafting 5 UR cards and dismantling 15 UR cards.
The cost might seem high, which kinda was but in the long run it was beneficial to him. The reason was simple, he could always get more UR cards by opening packs as long as he duled, which he does regularly.
Unfortunately he didn't meet up with any other important characters from the show to get the spirit reward, so he still had only 2 spirits.
His spirits also didn't sit idle and improved as the time went on and the more duels he won, especially Medea who told him she was close to getting her evolution, making him joke about her being a Pokémon which earned him a well deserved slap.
"Please take me with you." Yuri, now taller than he was before asked as he was clinging to Ryoken.
Just then a hand, clenched into a punch hit the top of Yuri's head, making him drop to the ground and hold his head while hissing from pain.
"Idiot, don't bother big brother. He has Duel academy exam, the least he has to worry about is you."
Serena said as she looked down at Yuri before turning to Ryoken and handing him a bento "Good luck brother."
Right, during these years the relationship between the three of them also changed.
Well for Yuri and Serena it was mostly about who was the best sibling, always getting on each other's nerve to win Ryoken's affection.
He didn't mind it as it made him remember his family from his previous life.
Yes unlike 99% of people who were orphans before reincarnation, he actually had a loving family and he missed them from time to time.
But he didn't let it get in his mind and instead always hoped that they were living well without him, whilst thanking them for being the reason he existed.
He gently patted both of their heads "I'm going. Take care and also don't bully each other when I'm gone."
The two looked at each other, glaring at each other before looking away while muttering "Fine" respectively.
"It's not like I won't be back. I'll sneak off from time to time to visit you two."
He then pulled out two cards from his pocket, giving each of them one "Have this as an early birthday gift. Behave while I'm gone and don't make trouble for Sheppard Sensei, Alright?"
The two children's eyes brightened with happiness as they grabbed the new card he handed to them.
As Ryoken bid farewell and was about to leave the dojo, he saw Sheppard waiting for him in front of the Dojo's entrance.
"You didn't need t-" Sheppard stopped him mid sentence, holding out a deck of cards in front of him, Making him raise a brow "What's this?"
"As you know Cyber End Dragon is known to be my most prised possession, which I passed it down to Zane as he was my first disciple. But to be frank, this deck is actually a deck I planned to pass on to him but didn't."
"You didn't? why?"
"This deck... in a way it's cursed. It contains a Dark power, one that I couldn't risk giving it to Zane because I was afraid of setting him on the wrong path."
"Oh so it's fine if I walk the dark path." Ryoken joked, making Sheppard's serious expression crack and chuckle.
"No. But I sense a power from you, the power of duel spirits. Before you say anything, no I can't see them. But still I know about them, that's why I know you can tame this deck."
Ryoken checked through the contents of the deck, and sure enough, it was the infamous Cyber Dark Deck.
This deck's gameplay was akin to a parasite. The main monsters in the deck equipped monsters from the graveyard to themselves and powered them up by that tactic.
This was also the deck that Zane used when he went into Dark Zane mode, or well known as Hell Kaiser.
(A/N: whilst we're here, gonna share some interesting facts. Kaiser is the german word for emperor, meaning that Zane's name in the Japanese version meant Emperor, which combined with the title would be Hell Emperor. Pretty cool I'd say. Also the names of his cards were also taken after the German numbers, like zwei(2), Drei(3), Vier(4).)
True to his words, the deck did give a weird feeling, as if something was being sucked from him into the deck.
"Ryo, these cards are absorbing your power. Should I kill them?" Medea appeared out of thin air, a murderous look in her eyes as if she wanted nothing more than to kill those cards.
'It's Fine. I'll deal with them later and give this deck to Zane because it doesn't suit my play style.' He told her through their mind link.
"Kuri Kuri!!!" Magik also seemed to be angry at the cards who were absorbing his energy, ready to cast a spell.
Ryoken chuckled and told Magik that it's fine before putting the deck inside his pocket.
"Thanks for trusting me Sensei. But I will probably give this deck to Zane after I fixed it."
Sheppard sighed before putting a hand on Ryoken's shoulder "Do whatever you want. Just know I'm proud of you, You're the strongest disciple I ever had. Also make sure to visit me and Dorothy, you know how she treats you like her son."
Ryoken smiled at that "I'll take that offer."
After bidding farewell, Ryoken finally left the dojo to go to the academia to take him entrance exam.
