Ryoken looked at the purple haired little girl who was staring at him with stars in her eyes.
You might wonder how he ended up in this situation, well that's easy to explain.
When he searched the warehouse for the supposed intruder, he found her hiding between a few boxes that he had cleared out and put in the corner of a warehouse.
She thought he was a duelist from Academia, who was tasked with the mission of taking her back there again.
It wasn't that she was treated badly there, anything she wanted they would grant and give it to her.
The problem was that they always kept her in her room and she was banned from leaving it.
And even the times they let her get out of her prison as she calls it, at least two students were tasked to keep an eye on her and accompany her.
All of this finally got to her and whilst on the leave, with the excuse of using the bathroom she had fled from the academia.
This obviously meant that the students on behalf of professor Akaba's orders were searching around the city for her.
That's why she was suspicious of Ryoken and they dueled, in which he didn't hold back and OTK her.
After the loss, she apparently had become a fan of him, introducing herself as Serena and asking him to hide her from Academia.
(A/N: Her name in Dub version is Celina, but I decided to stick with Serena cuz why not.)
Meanwhile Ryoken appeared calm on the surface, but was racking his brain and calculating the risks of taking her with him.
Obviously she's a character important to the plot, and not only that, he felt pitiful and sad for her since her situation was the same as Yuri, which Yuri had it worse.
Taking her with him meant directly opposing Academia which he didn't mind, but that would also put Yuri and the people in the Cyber art dojo at danger too.
'Sigh... fuck it, I'll take her with me. What's the worst that can happen?'
As if on cue, a man with quite a large build entered the warehouse, his eyes roaming around till he saw Serena.
"Lady Serena I applaud you for running away, but please come back. Professor Akaba is worried for you."
Serena hid behind Ryoken, clutching his shirt making him sigh and smile.
"Sorry pal but she's not going anywhere."
"And who are you?" The bulky guy with spiky hair asked, raising his duel disk.
Ryoken thought about it for a second before answering "Jaden. Jaden Yuki."
He decided to borrow the identity of Jaden just in case Barret gave information on him to professor Akaba.
"I see. Well then I guess we have to resolve this through a duel."
"Couldn't have said it better." Ryoken activated his duel disk quickly, changing his name in it before initiating the duel.
Both Duelists stepped out of the Warehouse and began the duel.
[DUEL!]
Barret: 4000LP (5cards)
Jaden(Ryoken): 4000LP (5cards)
"I'll go first. I'll show you how a seasoned warrior duels." Barret declared.
Turn 1
Standby phase 1
"I summon Feral Mechanic in the attack position!"

As the monster was summoned, Ryoken using the duel disk read the cards effect.
The Deck that Barrett used was an archetype known as (Beastborg), an anime exclusive deck. One that didn't get printed into OCG or TCG.
Hence why he didn't remember the effect of the cards and made sure to read them in case he would be in for a trap.
Whilst doing so he couldn't help but laugh in a low voice, remembering that he broke Yu-Gi-Oh's important rule of not reading your opponents card effects.
Barret noticed the laugh and thought that Ryoken was mocking him, making him take the boy seriously.
"If this card is Normal or Special Summoned I can add 1 Level 4 DARK Machine monster from my deck to my hand!"
Barret added a card before counting "Feral Mechanic's other effect activates! During the main phase I can special summon DARK Machine monster from my hand or graveyard!"
"Appear, Carrier Sentinel and Dark Sentinel!"

"Carrier Sentinel's and Dark Sentinel's effects activate, When summoned I can add 1 Level 4 or lower Dark Beast-warrior to my hand, and I add one Beastborg spell or trap card to my hand too!"
"I add another copy of Feral Mechanic to my hand and also add the Spell card Beastborg Fusioner to my hand!"
Barret looked at his cards and field before smirking "Here's a lesson for you arrogant boy! I activate the continuous spell card, Beastborg Fusioner!"
"With it I can Fusion Summon 1 "Beastborg" Fusion monster, using monsters in my hand or field as Fusion Material, then, place 2 Beastborg Counters on this card."
Beastborg counters 0 -> 2
"I fuse the Feral Mechanic in my hand with Carrier Sentinel on my field! Two creatures of darkness join together to create a predator! Fusion summon! Appear level 6! Beastborg Panther Predator!"

Ryoken wanted to make a comment about summoning a predator against a 12 year old boy, but he held his tongue and decided to stay silent.
DARK Machine monsters I control gain 200 ATK/DEF for each Beastborg Counter on Beastborg Fusioner! So all three of my monsters gain 400 attack and defence points."
Panther Predator 1600 -> 2000 ATK

"When I control a "Beastborg" Fusion monster, I can activate the continuous trap card Beastborg Medal of the Steel Chain from hand!"
"While this card is face-up on the field, special summoned monster's you control cannot declare attack, change their position or be destroyed by battle."
"Last but not least I activate polymerization to fuse Dark Sentinel and Feral Mechanic on my field. Two creatures of darkness join together to create a viscous wolf! Fusion summon! Appear level 6! Beastborg Wolf Kampfer!"

Serena couldn't help but look at Barrett field with awe. Barret was basically her personal bodyguard, yet this was her first time seeing him duel.
This made her anxious. Could Ryoken even do anything against this line up?
Because this is the first turn, I cannot attack you. But I still can deal effect damage. Panther Predator's effect activates. Once per turn my opponent takes damage equal to half of this card's attack points. Meaning you would take 1000 points of damage."
The panther roared before jumping at Ryoken and hitting him with its claw.
Ryoken LP 4000 - 1000 -> 3000
"Wolf Kampfer effect activates, whenever my opponent takes damage, this card deals 300 points of effect damage."
Ryoken LP 3000 -> 2700
"I end my turn. Go on show me what you can do." Barrett said as he ended his turn, but much to his surprise a faint smile was on Ryoken's lip, making him shiver.
It's been a while since Ryoken was put up against a deck that deals burn damage, making him remember the old days in master duel rank duels.
Also if his opponent dealt burn damage to him, that meant they wouldn't mind it if he did the same.
Turn 2
Draw phase
"My turn, I draw!"
Ryoken looked at the card he drew, smiling upon seeing Magik(Magikuriboh).
"I activate the spell card pot of greed, which allows me to draw 2 more cards!"
He drew two cards from the top of his deck before playing the next spell card "I activate graceful charity which allows me to draw 3 more cards. But I must discard 2 cards from my hand afterwards."
He drew 3 more cards before sending two cards to the graveyard.
Now he had 7 cards in his hand and 4 in the graveyard.
"From my hand I activate the spell card Dark Magical Circle! When activated I can look at the 3 cards on top of my deck, and reveal one that mentions Dark Magician and add it to my hand."
He looked at the 3 cards before revealing one to Barrett "I add The field spell Magician's Salvation to my hand. And of course I play it now."
As the card was played, golden runes began to appear all around the area, written in a mystical language.
"Magician's Salvation's effect activates. I can set one Eternal Soul directly from my deck."
A card was ejected from his deck which he grabbed it and set it face down in his spell and trap zone.
"By sending a card from my hand to the graveyard, I can special Apprentice Illusion Magician from my hand, and her name becomes Dark Magician Girl."

"Apprentice Illusion Magician's effect activates, When special summoned I can add one Dark Magician from my deck to my hand."
"Next up, I activate Magician's Salvation's effect. When I special summon a Dark magician girl, I can special summon one Dark magician who's in my graveyard. Be reborn Dark Magician!"

Barrett nodded in acknowledgement "It is impressive that you managed to summon a strong monster like him this easily. Tell you what, why don't you join our Duel academy?"
Before Ryoken could even answer, Serena tugged at his shirt with her small hand, shaking her head as if asking him to not do it, making him chuckle.
"Would have loved to join the academia if it wasn't run by an egghead."
At the mention of that word, Serena giggled while Barrett's lips twitched, holding back his laughter.
Sure Akaba was his commander and boss, but he also was to a certain extent against the methods he trained duelists.
"Ah right before I miss the chance, I activate Dark Magical Circle's effect. When I normal or special summon a Dark Magician, I can select a card on your field and banish it. I banish your Beastborg Medal of the Steel Chain."
The Continuous trap card on Barret's field vanished with a simple move of Dark Magician's Rod.
"Next up, I activate the spell card Secrets of Dark Magic, with it I can fusion summon a monster that lists Dark Magician as its material."
"I Fuse the Dark magician on my field with the Red-eyes Black Dragon in my hand!"
Dark magician and Red-eyes Black Dragon joined together and disappeared into the vortex in the sky.
"Two legendary monsters fuse together to create the Ultimate Magician! Arcane light and dragon fire, merge as one! Descend! Level 8! Red-Eyes Dark Dragoon!"
As the Dark clouds in the sky parted, Dark magician, now armoured with Red-eyes Black Dragon scales and wings descended from the sky to field.

Serena looked at the magician with awe and excitement, never witnessing a card that looked this cool.
Ryoken himself smiled, this was his first Fusion summon in this world and it felt special to him, specifically when it was this card that brought many players to the brink of despair.
Truly a card suited to share the joy of dueling amongst everyone.
"Dark Dragoon's effect activates. I select a monster card on your field and destroy it, then you take damage equal to its attack points! I choose your Kampfer! Go Dark annihilation!"
Dark Dragoon Raised his Lance, from it a gigantic dark fireball manifesting and hitting Kampfer, crushing and burning it to death.
"Kampfer's original attack points were 2200, so you take the same amount of damage."
Barrett LP 4000 - 2200 -> 1800
"Kampfer's effect activates, when destroyed I can special summon Dark Beast-warrior or Machin monsters from the graveyard! Appear again Carrier sentinel and Dark Sentinel, both in defence position."

"Also this turn my monsters cannot be destroyed by battle."
"Thanks for bringing back those two. I actually needed them."
Barret raised a brow at Ryoken's words, suddenly having a bad feeling about the boy in front of him.
"Dueling is meant to be fun and joyful, to share that joy I gift you this strong monster! I tribute Carrier sentinel and Dark Sentinel on your field to special summon Lava Golem in your field!"
Lava began to rise from the ground, engulfing the two monsters. Then a golem made out of Lava stood tall proudly, letting out a burp as if it had enjoyed the food, making Barrett's brow twitch.

"Now to end this duel I activate Dark Dragoon's effect again! I select Lava Golem this time, meaning you would take 3000 points of damage!"
"Wait what? That card's effect isn't once per turn?" Barrett asked, thinking Ryoken was planning to cheat.
"Of course not. Dark Dragoon can use that effect up to the number of Normal Monsters used to fusion summon it. Both Dark Magician and Red-eyes Black Dragon are Normal monsters, meaning I can use the effect 2 times per a turn!"
"Go Red-eyes Black Dragoon! Hit him one more time with Dark annihilation!"
As the Fireball destroyed Lava Golem, it gave an apologising look to barret before exploding, making Barret take 3000 Points of damage.
Barrett LP 1800 - 3000 -> 0
[Jaden (Ryoken) Wins]
Barret layed down on the ground, passed out from the attack. Ryoken approached him, whilst Serena followed him.
Ryoken kneeled down before him and Grabbed Barrett's deck from his duel disk.
"Umm is it alright to take his deck?" Serena asked as she watched Ryoken take out the whole deck out.
"Of course it's alright. He's a seasoned warrior as he said it, so he would understand what I'm doing is actually honouring him and showing respect."
He then patted her head "Let's go to somewhere that egghead wouldn't find you, alright?"
Serena's eyes Widened, before a big smile adorened her face as she hugged Ryoken "Alright!"
