In the academia, Ryoken was sitting in the stands amongst other students inside the duel stadium where the practical exam was being taken.
He had easily aced the written exam with help of Medea so he was sitting idly in his seat and watching the duels unfolding in the arena.
The only thing that came to his mind when he saw the duels was disappointment.
None of the people had any real skill or a deck that was built well, then again cards weren't cheap and not everyone had the ability to card print.
It was then that he saw something that finally caught his interest.
"Destiny Hero Disctopia, attack!"
The owner of the said monster was a boy around his age with neatly done silver hair, his attire making him seem like a noble.
'Aster Huh...' The corner of his lips raised as he saw another name character. One who in future would be one of Akaba's commanders.
"That guy is good. He will probably end up in the Blue dorm." The boy sitting next to him said.
'Blue dorm? Does he mean Obelisk? but why refer to it like this..'
"This is my first time in this city, can you tell me more about that Blue dorm you said?"
The boy looked at him with surprise and a bit of embarrassment "Oh you heard that? Well in academia we have three dorms, Red, Yellow and Blue."
"No slifer?" He asked randomly, making the boy raise a brow
"Who's Slifer?"
'Either this world doesn't have Egyptian gods or they simply dont know about them.'
"Nevermind it. what you said is true, That boy does look like a good duelist. But not the best."
"Not the best you say... you think there's anyone better than him amongst the first years?"
[Ryoken Kogami, Please come to the dueling arena no.4]
Ryoken stood up as he heard his name being shouted by the microphone "Yes that guy."
Meanwhile on the other side of the stands, Zane was leaning on the railing, eagerly waiting to see Ryoken's performance.
"You seem eager Senpai." A girl with long blonde hair said who was sitting next to him.
"That's because I am. Pay close attention to that boy Alexis." He advised while staring at the dueling arena.
"Alright. He must be good if you're this interested for him."
"He's not just good. He's even better than me." He muttered, leaving Alexis in shock.

In the Arena Ryoken stood In front of one of the instructors, who was wearing a gray coat.
"You're the boy who aced the written exam. I Hope you won't disappoint me in this Duel." The instructor activated his duel disk, ready to begin the duel.
"Of course. Please look after me and guide me through our duel." Ryoken said politely.
'He seems like a nice and respectful kid.' The instructor thought to himself, which he couldn't have been more wrong about it.
[DUEL!]

Main Phase 1
"I'll go first. I will show you how to put a strong front. By discarding a card, I can special summon Tricky from my hand. I summon Tricky in the attack position."

"Wow! You summoned a monster with a high attack without any tributes!" Ryoken said in awe, which was fake.
The instructor didn't seem to realise his intentions and laughed proudly "Of course. This is nothing. Now I'm going to conduct my normal summon. Appear, Goblin attack force!"
Goblin Attack Force 2300ATK/0DEF
"Wow you summoned another strong monster!"
"Hahaha of course. Most would avoid using the monster I summoned because of its effect, but they're just a bunch of Amateurs! Nothing is more important than attack points! Learn this from me junior!"
'So this Instructor is one those old school Yu-Gi-Oh players who thought higher attack points meant being better at this game.'
"Now since this is just a simple exam, I won't go any further and end my turn so you can also show off a bit Junior."
"Oh my, how kind of you instructor!"
Turn 2
Draw Phase
Ryoken drew a card and without looking at it played it "I activate the spell card graceful charity, I draw 3 cards but then I mist discard 2."
"Eh? He played a card without looking at it and guessed it correctly?" Alexis muttered whilst leaning closer to watch the duel.
Zane Smirked at her reaction "That's what strong duelists do. The bond they have with their deck is so strong that they draw what they want."
To some extent what Zane said was true, given that during these years Ryoken and his spirits power had risen to a new level.
But the truth was that Ryoken didn't shuffle his deck. Who shuffled their decks these days? No one.
Did he admit he cheated? Yes. Did he care? Not really when his opponent also thinks of it as a bond with cards.
"Professor the monsters you have are strong, so I will give you a gift. I tribute both of your monsters to special summon Lava Golem to your field! accept my gift instructor!"
Lava erupted from the ground, burning and absorbing the two monsters while they cried in pain. As the Lava stopped rising, a golem made of lava stared At the instructor, bowing his head to thanks for the food.
Lava Golem 3000ATK/2500DEF
The instructor looked at the monster with a unreadable complexion, but when his eyes saw the attack points of the monster, he was more than happy to get that card.
"Hahaha thank you junior, this is truly a great gift. I've never had the chance to play a card with 3000 attack points." He said gratefully.
'I was right. This boy really has a kind heart.'
"I'm happy you liked it, most people don't like him."
He shook his head in disappointment "Dont mind them, they're just tasteless fools."
Ryoken lips curved upward hearing the instructors words, whilst Lava golem just looked at the instructor apologetically for what was to come.
"Thanks for your understanding instructor. I set a card face down and end my turn."
Turn 3
Draw Phase
"I draw." The instructor drew a card and added it to his hand.
Main Phase 1
"At this moment, Lava Golem's effect activates, during the main phase, its owner takes 1000 points of damage."
The Lava Golem spat some Lava at the instructor, making him wince.
Instructor LP 4000 - 1000 -> 3000
"Ah so that's why you said people don't like this guy. But it's still alright, that minor effect is worth his attack points. Now Junior, since you have no monsters in your field I can attack you directly."
Ryoken held his hand up, stopping the instructor from attacking as he pressed a button on his duel disk.
"About that, I activate my set card, the trap card Ring of destruction. I select a monster on the field and it is destroyed. Then both players take damage equal to that card's attack points."
"I destroy the Lava Golem on your field, so we both take 3000 points of damage."
The instructor's eyes Widened as he looked at the Lava Golem who gave him a goofy look, before exploding.
Instructor LP 3000 - 3000 -> 0
Ryoken LP 4000 - 3000 -> 1000
[Ryoken wins!]
"That was a close duel instructor! You managed to lower my life points to 1000!"
The instructor didn't say anything and got up, taking off his coat and pulling up his sleeves.
'Others will understand that I'm just going to make the world a better place. Yes the world is a better place without him.'
But just as the instructor was about to beat up Ryoken, someone began to clap for Ryoken, making the instructor stop in his tracks.
"Mama mia! Well done. Truly a student worthy of being placed in the Blue Dorm!"

Didn't want to write a full duel of summoning ace monsters because Ryoken's opponent was a fodder, and fodders are meant to be used to spread the joy of dueling.
Also I didn't expect you guys to like female kaiba that much, might add her since there are barely any competent female characters in Yu-Gi-Oh.
By the way has any of you read the manga for that Yu-Gi-Oh series who's mc uses the meta decks? mc sister uses a traptrix deck, a deck that definitely shares joy of dueling. Should I add her or nah?
