Azariah stared with disgust in the distance, at someone.
It was none other than Yvan, who was currently practicing with his katana at the dummies in front of him.
But it wasn't just Azariah; almost everyone was currently looking at him with awe and envy.
His blade was moving so fast that, for the weakest lad, Azariah, he was barely even able to follow it.
All he could see were instantaneous marks on the training dummy, so precise every time that one would know each strike was planned.
Azariah clicked his tongue.
'Show off.'
Looking back, he saw a line of training dummies in the distance.
Yes, he was at the ranged practicing area.
But before he started practicing, he turned to look at someone else practicing not far away from him.
It was Alyssa, who was the only one that didn't bother to look at Yvan.
Seeing the sweat roll down her face, Azariah knew that she was fully locked in.
But she knew what she was doing, unlike the others with a bow near her.
Just from her posture and her way of holding the bow, it was clear that she was far more experienced than the other archers.
If that wasn't enough, one could always just look at her shots.
Azariah's eyes shifted towards the dummy she was shooting at, and it was safe to say that he almost got chills for a moment.
The whole of the dummy had been covered in thick gashes and holes, with some of its edges being subtly frozen.
Yvan's work was nothing compared to this.
Azariah gulped as he took another look at the dummy and Alyssa.
No wonder she was first ranked. It wasn't by any coincidence or to give character development for the MC.
No, she was just that strong—a major reason why she was packing everyone's asses as a major villain.
'She's already trying to infect magic into her weapon this early on.'
The fact that she could already do so to some extent was crazy.
'Fuck, if I do nothing at this rate, I'll be devoured by these people.'
Shifting to his dummy in the distance, Azariah took a deep breath.
He took out his weapons a second later.
They were two guns, both of them obtained as a pair in the miscellaneous section.
He quickly loaded the couple of magazines he got alongside the guns into the pistols.
But as he held them up, the worst thing he was fearing happened.
"Guns? Is this guy being serious?"
The nearby guy's words were loud enough to attract the attention of other guys as well.
"Guns? Who the hell in their right mind would pick that?"
"Out of all the weapons, you don't have a sane reason to pick the gun."
"The only reason can be he's trying to bag attention by picking the worst weapon ever."
Sooner than later, everyone knew that he was holding guns, and laughter elicited throughout the area.
Everyone was convinced that he was just trying to bag attention by doing so.
And honestly, Azariah couldn't blame them.
Guns were perhaps the most useless weapons he could have picked right now.
They were almost the same as spells; they were not designed for close combat. It took someone almost half a second to take their guns out and take a shot from close range.
And they were supposed to choose the ideal weapons for close combat.
Even a bow as a choice would have made sense.
In this modern future, they could be used for close combat as well by breaking it into two small daggers.
Additionally, unlike other weapons, you had to worry a lot about the gun's ammo. At any point, you ran out of bullets, the weapon was useless.
So you basically had to put a lot of care into a weapon that could almost do nothing.
At least that's what they thought.
Though he couldn't explain it right now, he just knew that the faces of everyone would be drastically different in the future.
But for now, he had to contend with the laughs.
Even the main cast was staring at him with amusement and confusion.
So much so that he even heard a call from Evangeline herself.
"Student Azariah Indrath."
Listening to her call, he turned back.
"Yes?"
"Are you really sure you want to pick the gun as your weapon of choice? Do note that once a weapon is picked, you cannot pick another weapon for the whole semester." She looked into his eyes.
He knew she was trying to warn him as well—to change weapons and try some other attention stint.
'Only if they knew.'
Unfortunately, Azariah was not going back on his choice.
"Yes, I'm sure. My choice is these guns."
For a second, Evangeline remained silent before nodding.
Regardless of a warning or not, she always knew not to press others about their choices or business.
That's what Azariah liked about her in the game.
'Well, let's get to work, boy.'
Facing the dummy in the distance, Azariah held up the gun in his right hand to take a shot.
Everyone's attention was now on him, to see what he would do.
Maybe he was actually really good with guns. That was the only saving scenario they could think of right now.
Azariah remained still for a second, adjusting his gun's position slightly as he closed one eye.
The whole area was now drowned in silence before—
BOOM!
The sound of a gunshot was heard in the air, making everyone's heads simultaneously turn towards the dummy in the distance.
But then, they saw nothing on the dummy's face or its chest.
Rather, there was a little mark on the edge of the dummy's right leg.
Azariah had missed his shot by a large margin…
Complete silence filled the area once more as they digested what happened.
"Pfft…"
The first sound escaped before a wave of laughter followed from behind.
Soon, the whole area was laughing at what they just saw—except Alyssa and Evangeline.
"I told you, he just picked those guns to be the center of attention, nothing more."
"You're so right, I bet he was feeling lonely as Division 2 in a Division 1 class."
"That shot was more than proof that he just got here through connections, nothing else."
A wave of mockery followed as well at his shooting skills.
Standing in front, however, Azariah didn't care.
He was already expecting to miss the shot before even trying. It was his first time trying to shoot a gun, after all.
And he would be surprised if the previous body had ever tried doing so as well.
Just the fact that he was even able to hit it on the body and not send it to the ceiling from the recoil was impressive.
"Yeah, I'm not wrong. I can work with this," he said, a slight smile spreading on his lips.
Regardless of the opinions, he knew he had made the right choice.
