Chapter 12 - A Surprise Fight

After an hour of training, a clap was heard from Evangeline.

"Okay, I think that's enough for today. It's time to put your training to use."

The class's attention was quickly taken by her as she directed them to a ground with multiple circles made on the floor.

"All of you will get into a randomized pairing given through the terminal and fight in these circles."

Immediately, several pings were heard on everyone's terminal.

"Additionally, only wooden versions of weapons are allowed to prevent any accidental damage. Stepping outside of the boundaries will also result in instant elimination."

As she completed her instructions, she pointed to the huge side walls of the training facility.

"You can obtain the wooden weapons from there. Also, no magic allowed as well. You will only be tested for your weapon skills."

Several groans were heard throughout the area from people who had just started using weapons.

Nonetheless, they had to get used to such uncomfortable orders.

Taking their complaints in, everyone headed to the side walls to get their weapons.

Azariah found the same gun in his drawer, but instead of real bullets, there were rubber bullets for safety measures.

"That works."

He already knew about this class from the game, so he wasn't surprised about anything.

Now that he had gotten his weapon, he quickly checked his terminal.

[Azariah Indrath VS Alex Baena]

'Hmm…'

He didn't know about the guy at all. Probably an NPC.

That was good. His chances of winning against anyone in the main cast were null.

But against a random dude…

Suddenly, a voice came from the side.

"Hey, you twerp. I am your opponent."

Looking to the side, Azariah saw a lanky man with a broad grin on his face that could reach the moon.

It was obvious from his smile that the man was thinking it was a guaranteed win against him.

'These Division 1 students really need to stop lacking so much.'

"Yeah, alright sure."

"Pfft, stop trying to act all tough, prick. You should have stayed in those Division 2 classes where you belonged."

Unbothered by his words, Azariah just led him to the circular ground and stepped inside.

He knew it was automated, so the moment he stepped inside, the circular boundary lit up, indicating the match had already started now.

Unfortunately, he couldn't take the other guy by surprise, as he was able to quickly compose himself.

The moment Azariah neared Alex, the latter whipped out his spear.

'Well, that's going to be a problem.'

Twisting his foot, Azariah narrowly dipped and dodged the blade of the spear.

He quickly put distance between himself and Alex again, using the momentum of the dodge.

While he was not experienced in any guns or weapons from his previous world, one thing in which he was a prodigy since birth was martial arts.

Spears would be a problem in such a close space with how far they could reach, but Azariah knew he could manage it well.

The fight was supposed to end when someone was thrown out of the boundaries, not forced down, so…

It was possible for Azariah.

Once again, dipping his foot into the ground, he launched himself forward at Alex.

The latter quickly countered by lunging his spear at him, but it wasn't like Azariah was without a plan.

Throwing himself to the ground mid-air, he dodged the blade of the spear once more before gripping its shaft tightly.

Alex wasn't a bulky guy, so Azariah knew the spear would be able to withstand his next move.

Using the weight of his momentum as an advantage, he pulled on the spear hard, lifting Alex up for a moment.

And that moment of surprise in Alex's eyes was enough for Azariah.

He quickly lunged underneath the gap and put Alex on his shoulders.

'Fuck, he's heavy for this body.' Azariah complained.

Even though the guy was built like a twig, Azariah's body was too underdeveloped to even carry that.

Just the previous movements had him wincing in pain as if he was about to break.

Regardless, the main job was already done.

"What the fuck!?" Alex cursed as he found himself high in the air on Azariah's shoulders.

Before finding himself thrown out of the ring, as the latter planted his foot on the ground and spun him out of the boundaries.

Immediately, the glowing blue boundaries turned into red as a holographic screen appeared in the air.

[Student Azariah Indrath Wins!]

'Phew, that was a tough win.'

Looking around, Azariah saw most of the students staring at him with surprise.

It seemed that most of them were already done with their fights.

Well, he would be surprised in their shoes as well.

The whole fight, he hadn't used his gun once despite having it strapped to his waist.

And while he could have used it, he felt there was no need for it.

The gun, at most, would serve to bring him down, but the mission was to get his opponent thrown out.

It was why he went straight for throwing arms to catch Alex by surprise.

And it was evident that it worked, as Alex stood up, now seething with rage at Azariah.

"You bastard, the fuck did you do!?" He launched himself at Azariah.

However, the latter didn't need to do anything, as the next moment, two ethereal black chains erupted and smashed Alex into the ground.

"Alex Baena, you are noted for the direct infringement of basic speech conduction and charged with attempting to assault a fellow student. A deduction of 20 points will be made on your next test."

The cold voice of Evangeline struck once more in the ground, putting it to silence.

Standing next to Alex, she clapped her hands once more.

"Okay, as the fights are all done now, you can move for your next classes or activities for today. We will continue from tomorrow."

Letting out a sigh of relief, Azariah patted his clothes to take off any dirt before walking over to Alyssa in the distance.

However, immediately, he could feel the whole class glaring at him.

It was obvious that they did not take a loss to a Division 2 student lightly. Most likely, he was going to become a target to be hated.

They probably considered him the filth of the class.

In any case, he ignored it and went straight to Alyssa.

The latter had won her fight as well, probably, though he was unable to see who it was against.

"Is there any other place you wish to go now?" Azariah asked her.

He was now free for the day, so as per the rules of being her bodyguard, he was supposed to accompany her now.

"I need to report to the student council today for my introduction," she said, glancing at him for a moment before focusing ahead.

'Oh, this is going to be interesting.'

"Very well. Let's go."
