Chapter 60 - Chapter 59: Uchiha Edge-Lord

Obtaining the Book of Seals was Hidan's greatest gain today.

Even though he had only managed to grasp Edo Tensei so far and hadn't touched the rest, just holding the Book of Seals in his hands was enough.

With this in his possession, there wasn't a forbidden technique in the shinobi world he couldn't eventually master.

After being carried back to the courtyard by Konan, Hidan wasted no time. He pulled her straight into the bedroom—after all, the fire she had teased in the grove hadn't been put out yet!

He had to admit it: ninja bodies were seriously built different.

Hidan could pour out endless energy, and Konan, with her incredible flexibility and softness, matched him flawlessly.

Each movement left him intoxicated...caught between lust, affection, and the high of battle-like passion.

...

Knock knock…

A sharp knock on the courtyard gate shattered the mood.

"Tch…" Hidan clicked his tongue in annoyance, dragging out a sigh.

"Of all times, it has to be now? Damn it…"

But for the sake of his plans, he had no choice. Sasuke needed training, and fast. The stronger Sasuke became, the sooner Hidan's goal could be achieved.

Reluctant to leave, he spent a long moment teasing Konan's soft "white buns," pressing kisses against her flushed skin until she weakly protested, her voice trembling with shyness.

"Go already…" she urged softly, cheeks burning.

Only then did Hidan finally pull on his clothes and step out.

Konan, left behind, watched his back disappear through the doorway. Her gaze was hazy, her body still tingling. Curling up beneath the sheets, she buried her face in the pillow...her whole face crimson at the thought of the storm that would no doubt return with him later.

---

The night was quiet as Hidan walked lazily beside Sasuke. He stretched like he didn't have a care in the world and suddenly asked:

"So, Sasuke… tomorrow's the big day. You're gonna get tossed into a three-man squad. Any thoughts on that?"

He smirked inwardly, wondering how the kid would react once he found out his teammate was none other than Naruto, the Academy's loudest, clumsiest failure.

Sasuke didn't even blink. His reply was as cold and clipped as ever:

"It doesn't matter who I'm grouped with. As long as they don't get in the way of my training for revenge.

But if they do…"

He trailed off, and his young eyes glimmered with ice. A dangerous chill radiated from his small frame, sharp enough to feel like a blade pressed to the skin.

Hidan's grin widened just slightly, almost imperceptible.

Not bad son.

That bloodlust… yeah, he liked it.

The deeper Sasuke's hatred grew, the faster his strength advanced.

And that was exactly what Hidan wanted to see.

As for Naruto? Hidan also had expectations for that brat, but honestly, there was no need to worry.

That kid was a walking cheat code.

No matter what happened, he just wouldn't die.

Every fight, no matter how reckless, only made him tougher—an undead little cockroach who somehow always crawled out alive.

The same "protagonist" role, yet what a contrast.

Naruto had stubborn willpower, while Sasuke's entire growth was soaked in hatred. His whole life had been a scam. No wonder, once he learned the truth, his eyes turned on Konoha itself.

And Hidan had to admit—Sasuke's talent really was something.

Under his guidance, Sasuke had already mastered the changes to Chidori: the piercing Chidori Sharp Spear and the wide-ranging Chidori Current.

For a genin fresh out of the Academy, the kid was using them frighteningly well.

The only thing holding him back now was chakra. At best, his reserves matched a chūnin.

Otherwise, with the ninjutsu he had already mastered, Sasuke could stand shoulder-to-shoulder with an elite jōnin.

After being forced to endure Tsukuyomi over and over again, Sasuke's eyes had grown sharper, colder.

Gone was the trembling boy from the beginning.

He had faced the shadows of his deepest fears again and again, and each time he came out harder, stronger—his will forged into steel.

That was his greatest gain.

"After today's training," Hidan announced lazily, "there's no need to come to me again.

I've already taught you the Uchiha clan's ninjutsu, even passed down my unique secret technique—Chidori."

He grinned shamelessly as he claimed it as his own. "From here on, the path's yours to walk. The hatred of the Uchiha clan… that's yours alone to resolve."

"Why?" Sasuke said, frowning. "I haven't grown strong enough to take revenge yet!"

His voice held frustration. He still wanted Hidan to keep teaching him.

During this time, he had seen the sheer breadth of Hidan's power—his mastery over fire, his terrifying skill with lightning.

And Sasuke himself was naturally attuned to fire and lightning. Every jutsu Hidan had taught him fit perfectly, like they had been made for him.

Of course Sasuke wanted more. He wanted to keep drinking from that well of power.

"It's useless to keep training behind closed doors," Hidan said, his tone dropping into something unusually serious.

"The ninjutsu you've mastered now already surpasses plenty of elite jōnin.

"What you lack isn't technique...it's blood, fire, and the battlefield."

"Only by clashing head-on with death will you keep moving forward. Do you get it?"

Sasuke's eyes widened. Of course he understood.

Right now, he was simply learning techniques under Hidan's guidance, sharpening his mind through genjutsu.

But actual combat? He had barely any.

A shinobi without real battle experience… was no shinobi at all.

"After your team is formed tomorrow, you'll start taking missions. Use them. Every task is a chance to sharpen yourself. Experience, knowledge, blood, danger—that's what you need. That's the road you must grasp for yourself."

"I understand!" Sasuke clenched his fists tightly, his dark eyes burning with new determination. He would seize every chance to grow, every chance to narrow the gap between himself and that man.

"Good. Then from tomorrow on, don't come back here. Unless you hit a wall you can't break through, there's no reason to see me again."

Hidan turned, space already distorting as he prepared to vanish with Kamui

"Wait."

Sasuke's voice was low, heavy, but filled with urgency.

Hidan paused, his single eye sliding toward the boy. "What is it? Spit it out."

Sasuke's jaw tightened. "With your strength… why don't you take revenge on him yourself? Don't you hate Itachi for destroying the Uchiha clan?"

For a moment, the scene fell into silence.

Hidan chuckled slightly, his grin wide.

"Revenge? On Itachi? Don't make me laugh. The Uchiha clan never gave me a damn thing. Why should I care about their destruction? Why should I waste my time hating a clan that meant nothing to me?"

His words were calm, but completely honest.

Sasuke froze. Slowly, his expression darkened, his thoughts spiraling.

He misunderstood entirely...in his mind, Hidan was just another abandoned child, discarded by the Uchiha and left to fend for himself. No wonder he carried no attachment.

With a complicated expression, Sasuke gave a stiff nod. "I see…"

He turned away, eyes shadowed, leaving with silent steps.

If only he knew.

The truth was simple: Hidan was no Uchiha at all. He had never been part of the clan. And worse...the one who had orchestrated their massacre… was Hidan himself.

But after a few steps, Sasuke stopped. His shoulders trembled, his fists clenched.

"…I was too impatient."

The words were quiet, almost swallowed by the night. He bowed his head slightly.

"Even though you had nothing to gain, you still taught me. I spoke out of turn… I'm sorry."

Hidan raised an eyebrow, half-amused.

"Oh? Look at that...the great Uchiha Sasuke apologizing. Didn't think I'd live to see that."

He smirked, waving it off like it was nothing. "Tch. Don't sweat it, brat. I didn't teach you out of kindness. Watching you struggle is just entertaining for me."

But despite the mocking words and that annoying grin, Sasuke felt it... Hidan's lessons had been real.

So for the first time he apologised to hidan, he didn't care what Hidan real purpose was in teaching him.

He was indeed getting stronger and that was enough. Sasuke said to himself and then left with hands in his pockets.
