Chapter 59 - Chapter 58: Forbidden Evolution

In truth, the mechanics of Edo Tensei weren't overly complicated. Master the casting seals, gather the right sacrifice and catalyst, and you could summon the dead.

Just as Kabuto once explained, Edo Tensei was little more than a twisted form of Summoning Jutsu.

And for Hidan—whose memory worked like a steel trap—memorizing the scroll's details was child's play. But what came next made his pulse race.

The system chimed.

Host: Hidan

Strength: Super Kage level (not counting special abilities)

Kekkei Genkai: Eternal Mangekyō Sharingan (upgrade cost: 100,000 Kill Points)

Attributes: Fire Release, Lightning Release

Ninjutsu: Curse Technique: Death Controlling Possessed Blood, Edo Tensei (Incomplete), Mind Transfer Jutsu, Eight Inner Gates, Body Flicker, Fire Release Mastery, Lightning Release Mastery

Special: Immortality, Enhanced Perception

Weapons: Triple-Bladed Scythe, Black Spear

Kill Points: 18,561

After killing Hanzo of the Salamander, his points had spiked past ten thousand. Now, under the Ninjutsu tab, a new entry appeared: Edo Tensei (Incomplete).

Then came the voice. That familiar rasp, like nails dragging across his brain—grating, yet intoxicating.

"Host has acquired an incomplete forbidden technique. Spend Kill Points to upgrade to completion?"

Hidan's grin split wide. "Well, well. Even jutsu can evolve with the system, huh? Not bad."

He thought back to Orochimaru, the snake who had wasted years studying this very jutsu, fumbling with corpses and talismans until he'd refined Edo Tensei into something usable. And now? With the system, Hidan could skip all that research with a simple payment.

If Orochimaru knew, he'd choke on his own tongue.

"How much?" Hidan asked inwardly.

"10,000 Kill Points for the Complete version. 50,000 for the Perfect version."

Hidan blinked. "…Perfect?"

The system, patient as ever, elaborated:

"Complete Edo Tensei allows the caster to summon and control the dead. However, if the target's will is strong or their obsession fades, their soul may ascend, breaking free from control."

"Perfect Edo Tensei eliminates this flaw. No matter their strength or knowledge of the release method, the soul cannot escape. All remain puppets under the caster."

Hidan's jaw tightened. That was insane. Even Orochimaru had failed to control the First and Second Hokage. Kabuto had struggled with his summons during the Fourth Great Ninja War.

But a Perfect Edo Tensei? Even Madara or Hashirama would kneel as mindless soldiers.

His laughter burst out, harsh and triumphant. "Kehahahaha! Even the gods of this world can dance on my strings."

Without hesitation, he bit down. "Upgrade Edo Tensei to Complete!"

The system devoured 10,000 points. His mind flooded with clarity—the hand seals, the sacrifice process, the formulas—all sliding neatly into place. No longer fractured, the jutsu was whole. Another forbidden art had fallen into his grasp.

But as his excitement ebbed, another thought sparked. If Edo Tensei could be upgraded… what about his own Curse Technique?

"System. Can Death Controlling Possessed Blood be upgraded?"

"Yes. First upgrade: 10,000 Kill Points. Removes the need to draw the ritual circle. Second upgrade: 100,000 Kill Points. Attack ignores all regeneration, killing in a single strike."

"Pfft—" Hidan actually spat blood. "You've gotta be kidding me. That's basically Rinnegan-tier. And the damn ritual still needs blood contact? What a scam!"

He checked his points again and groaned. Not even enough left for the first upgrade.

He'd slaughtered dozens in the past three years, carving out a reputation drenched in gore, but they were small fry.

True powerhouses hadn't fallen yet, and the system demanded their blood.

"Damn it…" he muttered, gazing at the pitiful digits. "Not even enough to scratch the surface."

With a snap of his fingers, he warped the copied Sealed Scroll into the bloody void of his Kamui dimension for safekeeping. Then he collapsed backward onto Konan, using her like a pillow.

Her frame was slim, delicate, yet strong enough to carry him without complaint. She adjusted her steps, walking quietly out of the forest.

Hidan smirked, resting his head comfortably against her back. "At least I've got you, eh? Better than staring at numbers all night."

Konan didn't reply, but her faint blush betrayed her thoughts. She was used to his weight, his arrogance, his touch.

She was his shield, his maid, his companion—and deep down, she wondered how long she could keep watching him walk this path of blood.
