(SANDRA'S POV)
Krystal's phone starts ringing.
The sound manages to distract from the tension that's hanging in the air between all of us.
"Are you serious?" she mutters under her breath as she fishes the phone out of her pocket.
I'm not even looking at her at first. I'm staring at the double doors that lead to the surgical wing, hoping it opens any second now and the doctor walks out with good news.
But when I look at Krystal I notice something.
It's subtle.
So subtle I almost miss it.
The second she looks down at her screen, her face changes. Not dramatically. Not enough for anyone to grasp.
But I see it.
Her shoulders tense. Her lips part slightly. The color drains from her cheeks for a split second before she forces everything back into place.
It's gone so fast that if I blinked, I would've missed it.
I glance around casually.
Bruno is scrolling on his phone.
Leo is pacing.
Michele is staring at the floor like he's trying to burn a hole through it.
