(KRYSTAL'S POV)
I'm still holding the phone to my ear.
My fingers are locked around it as if it's glued to my skin.
"…Xavier."
Saying his name feels like swallowing glass.
For a second, I consider ending the call. My thumb even twitches toward the screen.
I want to hang up.
I want to throw the phone at the wall and watch it shatter into a thousand pieces.
I want to pretend I never heard his voice.
But I can't bring myself to move.
"Bianca," he says smoothly.
The way he says my name crawls under my skin.
"Does Valentino know the truth?" he asks. "Does he know that the woman he's fucking has been working for the enemy this whole time?"
"I never worked for you, you bastard," I hiss through gritted teeth.
"Oh really?" he replies with this calm, mocking tone.
"When Valentino and his brothers went to that fancy rooftop restaurant," he continues, "who leaked the address to the Red Devils?"
My throat tightens.
