The rain beat hard on the roof but the shouts and rants of Leslie's parents were louder, she stood at the entrance watching her parents, emotionless...
"Why did I fucking hell married you? Her mum's voice came out loud and sharp.
"When you were enjoying my wealth and riding posh cars why didn't you regret it then ? Her father barked.
"I was foolish then stupid young naïve blinded ... and now I'm regretting it look at my life, her mum wailed.
"I'm going out for a smoke, her dad said wearing a loose rain coat.
"Yeah go on leave just don't come back here don't you dare!
He leaves angrily, her mum turns sharply and sees Leslie at the entrance looking at her.
"And what are you looking for useless child , her mum barked. Leslie still stayed there looking at her.
"I can't deal with another useless person. Her mum pulls out a pack of cigarettes from her pocket she lits it and looks at Leslie who still stood there.
"Make yourself useful and get me a bottle of beer.
Leslie still stood there staring at her mum. Her mum turns sharply and sees her still there .
"Are u deaf? Leslie get me a bottle of beer, she asked again. But Leslie stood there quiet. Sluggishly her mum stands and walked towards Leslie.
"Useless child, she spat on Leslie face and pushed her away.Leslie landed on the ground and began to sob quietly.Her mum walks over to the kitchen and took out a bottle of beer from the fridge she takes a quick gulp and looks at Leslie who was on the ground sobbing quietly.
"Fuck! Her mum throws the bottle of beer at the wall frustration getting the better part of her.
"What did I tell you about crying ?
"No crying when mum is around, Leslie said admist sobs.
"And what are you doing huh? Shut that thing you call a mouth!
Quickly Leslie cleans her eyes she knows what will happen to her if her mother gets angry.
"Good and the day I fucking hear that silly voice of you crying you are as good as dead, Now clean this damn house up, she takes another bottle of beer and leaves.

SCHOOL
Leslie arrived at school her clothes torn and battered since her parents don't care about her welfare. During lunch she sat on the playground watching kids eating and running off with their friends she was lonely and hungry, she had no friends since no one ever talked to her they avoided her like a plague.
"Hi, someone greeted. Leslie stared at the stranger silent as ever.
"My name is Austin and you are? Leslie stared at him blankly.
"Oh, I see you aren't much of a talker. Can I join you?. . .I guess that's a yes, He takes out his lunch box and opened it the box letting out a salivating scent. He takes out a sandwich and gives it to Leslie.
"Want some?
Leslie stared at him then the sandwich reluctantly she declined shaking her head.
"C'mon I'm giving you he opens her palm and gives her. Leslie look at the sandwich again unable to hold it anymore she began to eat hungrily.
"Slow down, Austin said letting out a beautiful smile for a spilt second she was lost. Then she looked away still eating.
"I'm a new student here I noticed you were alone while the others were playing. What's your name?
"Leslie, she finally said.
"You have a pretty voice.
Leslie didn't say anything this time .
"You should say thank you. Leslie gave him a confused look.
"Yeah whenever someone compliments you, you should show appreciation. Leslie nods her head in compliance.
"We should get back to class. C'mon Lessy. Leslie looked at him confused.
"I tend to give my friends nickname since you are my friend now I came up with a nickname, do you like it?. Leslie shrugs her shoulders.
"I guess that's a yes.

Late in the night.
It was raining heavily again, Leslie heard the crashing of plates and rantings coupled with the noises it was getting hard to sleep. She heard a loud thud from outside but ignored it after an hour everywhere went silent.Confused by the sudden change she decided to go downstairs but what she saw didn't come out as a surprise.
