As Sumit called out the Status screen appeared before his eyes.

Sumit was visibly annoyed by that Remark but he had his priorities.
" Hey, System what do the ranks mean and bow many ranks are there and how can I raise it?", Sumit cut to the chase directly and asked the most important question.
The system replied ,
[Ranks represent the Cosmic hierarchy of a living organism. According to my memory the ranks are:
1) Recruit
2) Foot soldiers
3) Squad Leader
4) Captain
5) Major
6) Colonel
7) General
8) King
9) Emperor
With each rank being many times more powerful than the last one.]
"Hmm, so I am at the Recruit rank now?"
[Yes host and to rise through the ranks you need to gain "Life Pearls", which is basically the EXP you get after defeating enemies.]
"So how many levels till I am a Recruit?", asked Sumit.
[25 levels, host. As for what happens after that, well you are too weak right now to care about that. ]
Suddenly Sumit remembered something, "Wait a minute, I need to contact Saurabh!"
As Sumit tried to use his phone, he could not help but curse out.
"Damn it, why is it not working?!"
[It's useless now host. In fact every piece of electrical technology from your previous world was rendered useless due to the mana burst.]
Looking around Sumit realised something, it was suspiciously dark all around him , he could right now see a huge chunk of city but not a single light source was visible.
Before Sumit could adjust to his new reality, Screams started to come from downstairs.
Without wasting any time Sumit ran towards the exit and he noticed a change.
"Am I hallucinating or have I really gotten faster?"
The system replied,
[The STATS of an average adult is 5 in each category, now you have 7 in your Agility Stat,
So of course you are faster now.]
"Wow, this is really like an RPG game." Sumit felt quite excited.
As Sumit descended to the 5th floor of the dorm, he was met by DARKNESS.
Except for the moonlight leaking through the balcony every space was shrouded in pitch black darkness.
It was not that , power cuts never occurred in his dorm, but Sumit could tell that his sight was way to restricted.
"Hey , System is this normal?"
[I am afraid that I cannot answer this question right now, because if you become to focused on listening to my explanation, you won't be able to survive.]
Before Sumit could say anything a door opened and a person came stumbling out
Sumit could identify him by his silhouette as Rohit.
He was Sumit's batch mate and though not a friend he was acquaintance .
"Hey! Rohit are you okay?" Sumit asked in a low voice.
To which Rohit did not reply but only staggered towards him.
At that moment the system which was silent till now, screamed in Sumit's mind.
[RUN!!! HOST!!]
Sumit without even thinking anything just turned and ran towards the stairs.
While running he looked back for a brief moment and faintly caught a glimpse of "Rohit"
When moonlight shone on Rohit's face Sumit was stunned.
"That's a FRICKING ZOMBIE!!!" Sumit spoke quite loud and paid the price for it.
Out of rest of the rooms 5 more silhouettes emerged and charged towards Rohit.
"Oh Sh*t!! cursed Sumit as he quickly climbed downstairs and aimed to reach at his room.
But then , he realised something.
"It would be a bad idea , if the zombies camp outside my room, then I am finished."
With this thought Sumit formulated a plan.
"Since being passive would be the end, I must think of a way to take out ea h of them with a single move.
Suddenly an Idea came into his mind and Sumit started grinning.
[Don't do that host, you are creepy.]
The system chimed in.
Sumit paid no attention to the system and started running towards the utility room of the dorm.
It was located on first floor and till now Sumit was only using staircase and fortunately the zombies were still moving around the deeper parts of the corridors.
But, right now the zombies were being attracted to the sounds ,made by Sumit's running.
"It won't be long enough before they catch up with me." , Sumit thought.
Just when he passed the 2nd floor and was about to head to the 1st he abruptly had to halt his steps, which made hi fall over.
The reason was, standing infront of him was a zombie over 7ft tall. Watching it reminded Sumit of the body builders Sumit had seen on internet before, except for the fact that this thing was an abomination.
With a tall bulking frame, Sumit could only see it's glowing red eyes in the darkness.
But it did not matter right now, because the zombie had already made it's move.
Dashing towards him it punched with its right fist aiming to pulverize his skull.
Though the zombie was packing a lot of power it was still at a manageable speed.
As a result Sumit was able to dodge it's pun h by ducking, but the punch still connected on the wall.
And then… BOOOOOOOMMMM!!!
The wall was blasted through and a huge gaping hole could be see on it now.
The whole area was covered with dust and smoke.
Sumit was able to swiftly make use of this small opening and was able to crawl out and again run towards the utility room.
[HP: 40/90] the system showed a notification.
Sumit sighed, "The attack did not even connect, yet it took 30 HP from me." Feeling dizziness and ringing from his ear while running,
Sumit thought, "I am lucky that this was the extent of damage I received."
As Sumit finally reached finally reached the end of first floor corridor, he found himself in front of the utility room.
Just as he was about to open the door, a ferocious roar came from behind.
RAARRRRGHH!!!
The zombie having realized that he had lost his prey was now currently fighting against the 20 or so smaller zombies that Sumit had aggroed.
"At least its not intelligent.", Sumit said and entered the room.
[IDENTIFICATION COMPLETE

Sumit's eyelid twitched at the remark but he kept his cool and said,
"One step and I am dead. Let the plan begin."
