Chapter 38 — Yuhao, did you sleep well last night?

Due to the excessive use of spirit power, the fatigue etched across Huo Yuhao's brow was something anyone could notice at a glance.

After dinner, urged by Huo Yun'er, Huo Yuhao—already pushed to his limits—simply nodded to her in acknowledgment before making his way upstairs first.

After a brief shower, Huo Yuhao did something rare: he did not sit cross-legged to meditate. Instead, he chose to rest properly, letting his mind relax completely.

It seemed that the exhaustion of the day had truly taken its toll. Huo Yuhao's head barely touched the pillow before he slipped into a deep sleep, and within moments, the room was filled only with the even rhythm of his breathing.

How much time had passed? No one could say. Outside, the moon hung high in the night sky. Then, a faint click suddenly rang out from within the room.

With that sound, the bedroom door creaked open just enough to allow a narrow gap. Beyond the crack, a pair of beautiful eyes, glimmering with purple light, cautiously observed the interior.

After waiting a moment and confirming that Huo Yuhao showed no sign of awakening, the figure steadied her courage. Tiptoeing carefully, she entered the room, quietly closing the door behind her.

The first step was always the hardest.

Once this was done, the figure visibly relaxed and walked straight to Huo Yuhao's bedside. The dim room had no effect on her purple-glowing eyes, which glimmered in the darkness. Moonlight spilled through the window, illuminating half of her delicate face and tracing the contours of her refined features.

It was Tang Ya.

She crouched slightly, bringing her face close to Huo Yuhao's. Through the night-vision effect of her Purple Demon Eye, she quietly studied the peaceful expression of the sleeping youth.

The proximity caused her slightly heavier breathing to brush against his face, yet Tang Ya seemed unaware. Several minutes passed, and seeing that Huo Yuhao remained unresponsive, she finally seemed to make a decision. Carefully, she leaned in and pressed her lips to his.

To do something like this to a boy three years her junior made Tang Ya's heart feel like it would leap from her chest, her face flushing intensely.

After a long while, she slowly lifted her head. Swallowing with a slight throat movement, as though tasting a drop of sweet morning dew, she calmed herself and asked in a barely audible, almost self-soothing voice:

"Yuhao… are you awake?"

Perhaps because of his exhaustion—or simply because he felt no need to remain alert at home—Huo Yuhao showed no signs of waking. He did not respond, and the slight parting of his lips remained undisturbed.

"If you don't say anything, it means you acknowledge it."

Tang Ya's breath grew uneven, almost sickly, as her gaze traveled down the boy's neck, daringly sweeping over his body until it rested on the collar of his sleepwear.

If I get caught… this might be the end for me. Tang Ya… he's still so young… I'm a pervert.

Though she scolded herself inwardly, she made no move to stop. Her hands trembled as she began unbuttoning his sleepwear, one button at a time. Tedious though it was, she felt a secret thrill: at least buttons could be undone silently, unlike pullovers.

Click.

The door opened from the inside, and after a quick glance at the quiet corridor, Tang Ya stepped out of Huo Yuhao's room.

No one knew what had occurred inside, though her face retained traces of the flush brought on by her excitement.

Just as she placed her hand on the doorknob to enter her own room, a sharp click of a door opening rang out behind her. Tang Ya flinched, her guilty conscience jolted, and instinctively glanced back. Gu Yuena stood in the doorway, observing her with the same calm curiosity.

In the dim lighting, Gu Yuena's silver hair seemed to shimmer like it radiated its own light. Though her purple eyes betrayed no emotion, Tang Ya felt a depth in them that was almost unfathomable.

They stared at each other for a moment. Noticing Tang Ya's panicked expression, Gu Yuena blinked, and her ethereal voice echoed from the corridor:

"I'm just going downstairs for some water."

With that, she ignored Tang Ya entirely and turned toward the stairs. Tang Ya stood frozen for a moment before blushing furiously and retreating into her own room.

The next morning.

Huo Yuhao opened his eyes and sat up in bed. Listening to the chirping of birds outside, confusion crossed his face.

".?"

He instinctively raised a hand to touch his slightly swollen lips. Then he paused. A faint stickiness traced down his neck and upper body. Pulling at his collar, he looked down at himself—but found nothing unusual.

"Did I sweat last night?" he muttered, puzzled.

He didn't think much of it. Closing his eyes again, he briefly scanned his fully restored spirit power. Then his attention fell on the dark red light cluster in his spiritual sea, and his brow furrowed slightly.

"Why does it feel like the lust origin unlock progress has… increased a bit?"

What the hell?

Resigned, he picked up the clothes he planned to wear and decided to take a shower first.

Just as he opened the door, he saw Tang Ya stepping out of her room.

"Good morning, Sister Xiao Ya."

"Ah!"

For some reason, Tang Ya trembled as if her tail had been stepped on. Only then did she remember to greet him.

"Y-Yuhao… good morning."

"Is something wrong?"

"No… no, nothing at all."

Tang Ya scratched her head, her smile slightly stiff.

"There's nothing Sister Xiao Ya could be up to. Just a bit groggy after waking up."

Although Huo Yuhao was slightly confused by her reaction, he didn't dwell on it. Tang Ya seemed to have composed herself and casually asked,

"Yuhao, did you sleep well last night?"

"Very well."

He had thought to ask if anything strange had happened to her last night, but reconsidered. It didn't seem important, and even if he mentioned it, she probably couldn't help. So he kept silent.

"Good. Then I'll head downstairs. Remember to come down for breakfast later."

"Okay."

Huo Yuhao nodded. For some reason, watching Tang Ya go downstairs gave him the odd impression that she was fleeing in a hurry.

Just as he turned away, the door beside him opened from the inside. Gu Yuena stepped out, her hair slightly tousled. Her purple eyes swept over him briefly before landing on the clothes in his hand.

"Going to shower?"

"Yeah… by the way, did you notice anything strange last night?"

Gu Yuena blinked a few times, then shook her head gently.

"I went downstairs for water in the middle of the night. Nothing seemed odd."

"…."

Huo Yuhao twitched in frustration but said nothing, turning toward the bathroom.
