With 26 avatar points Lucas could finally evolve Ghost to C-rank.
But he had other matters to attend to first.
After Lucas, his avatars and his guild members took care of 4 of the 15 gate breaks, they had countless monster corpses to take care of.
Lucas called the guild's logistics department and ordered them to come with the new big trucks that they owned.
They soon arrived at the 4 gates and started loading the corpses onto the trucks.
It took a while to load everything, but when they finished they headed back to the large storage facility that belonged to the Helios guild.
There wasn't just the logistics department, but also a department that took care of butchering and sorting the monster corpses.
Most corpses would be sold to the association, but the Helios guild was currently organizing a research facility to do research on everything related to gates and monsters.
In the meantime the corpses would be stored in a very large freezer that was part of the warehouse.
Lucas and the others all returned to the guild to rest and discuss what to do next.

Currently in a large conference room of the Helios guild.
Leah started speaking.
"The guild master and members did great tonight, but it's clear that we severely lack in awakend members."
"We also need to create a strategy department and recruit people who are extremely intelligent and skilled into it."
"The good thing is that with all the corpses we got and the ones we will get soon from the other gates, we will have enough money to buy more buildings and hire people."
"We also need blacksmiths and scientists for our guild. I'm sure the association already has a lot of them."
"Soon there will be a large demand for weapons and we need a head start in making them."
"Does anyone have anything else to say?"
Lucas responded.
"No, those are excellent ideas. I will trust you and Yuto with the money and hiring process."
"I while search for capable and trustworthy awakends."
"My avatars will clear some of the remaining gates with Sarah,Ruben and Chima."
"After that my avatars will investigate the higher ranked gates."
"Is everyone in agreement?"
Lucas asked from the head of the long table.
Everyone responded.
"Yes guildmaster!"
After that every department head left.
Only Leah, Yuto and the awakend members remained in the room.
Ruben asked.
"How do you plan on finding more awakened members for the guild?"
Lucas answered.
"Leah, call in the media and recruitment department heads."
Leah immediately understood and answered.
"Got it."
After a few minutes they arrived.
Francesco De Luca was the recruitment department head and was in his 50s. He used to be a recruiter for a private security company.
Maria Garcia was the media department head. She was in her late thirties. She used to be a media manager for a famous football team.
"Thanks for coming. I have a job for you."
"I want you to let the whole country know that our Helios guild is looking for awakened members."
"Don't specify any requirements. I will judge them all myself."
"You can figure out the rest yourselfs right?"
They both replied.
"Of course sir."
After talking with Leah for a while longer, Lucas could finally head home for some rest.
When he got home Lucas saw that Ghost was waiting for him there.
"It feels like I haven't seen you in forever. How did scouting the C-rank gate go?"
Even though it was morning and Lucas was up all night fighting, this was important.
"It went well master. Let me give you my report."
"Go ahead."
"The C-rank gate is an orc village. There are only around a hundred orcs, but they are all C-rank and their village chief is B-rank."
"They all have large builds and wield axes, including the chief who wields a very large one."
"The village has wooden walls and lacks any defensive abilities. In the day, about 20 of their weaker warriors are out hunting. In the night everyone is sleeping except for the 10 guards around the village."
"They seem very carefree and arrogant, but they're strong."
Lucas was excited at the idea of hunting them, but he wasn't sure if they could handle them.
'Well first things first.'
"Ghost. It's time to evolve you."
'Between summoning a new C-rank or evolving Ghost to C-rank, the latter is the much better choice.'
'I also noticed that the more they evolve, the higher the stat difference becomes between my avatars and monsters of the same rank.'
'Ghost is D-rank and stronger than a C-rank monster, if we include skills.'
'I also think it has to do with their levels. Because Ghost was already stronger than D-rank monsters at level 1. And he is level 11 now.'
Lucas pulled up the evolution tab and clicked it.
Do you wish to evolve your Avatar to C-rank?
'Yes.'
-20
Your Avatar is evolving.
A light appeared from Ghost and after a minute it subsided.
'Status.'

Lucas was absolutely shocked.
"What the fuck!! The whole ranking system of avatars can't be compared to monsters."
'Every stat increased by at least 20 points. He gained one new skill and the rest all upgraded by at least one rank.'
'But the most shocking is obviously the unique ability. I didn't know avatars could have one.'
"Ghost, do you know how to use shadow step?"
"Yes master. Everything I need to know flooded my head when I evolved."
"I see. Can you show me?"
"Yes master."
Ghost stepped on a shadow and just disappeared.
He then appeared on the other side of the room, coming out of a different shadow.
"Here master."
Lucas turned and was impressed.
"This is amazing. Are there any restrictions?"
"Yes. I cannot attack while I'm inside a shadow."
"Hm alright, but that shouldn't be a problem right?"
"Yes master, since I can't appear out of a person's shadow right next to them. They won't have time to react unless they are extremely skilled."
"Okay good."
"Do you think you could defeat a B-rank monster now?"
"It depends on the monster and their level. For example the orc chief, I don't think I can win in a fight, but I can kill him."
"I see."
"It seems that monsters also grow significantly stronger with higher ranks."
"Yes I agree master."
Ghost didn't change much appearance wise, except for growing a bit taller and more handsome.
After a long night and morning, Lucas finally went to bed.
