Immediately as the sky monitor flew into the air, Nibbleskin jumped high too, crashing into it and sending it crashing into the ground.
Meanwhile,
—Griiiinnnn
The sound of a spinning dagger resounded as Enzo appeared behind the lanky skeleton and sent his dagger directly into its back.
It instantly broke apart some bones, causing the lanky skeleton to groan. It didn't back down though, as the excess bones around its body formed up into a shield of bones and a sharp blade.
"Two on one, that's fun!!" The lanky skeleton sneered as it twisted, using the back of its shield to hit Enzo square in the face, sending him a few meters back.
"Shithead!!" Thane saw its counterattack and made use of the distraction, quickly sending a blow towards the spine of the skeleton.
For someone like Enzo, every strike was hard but not lethal for the skeleton. However, Thane was a tyrant, the difference between them was around three whole realms.
—boom!!
The lanky skeleton felt its entire body vibrate as it lost balance. It had been careless in that moment.
No more.
Quickly, it got up as its bones healed, immediately fixing the damage from Enzo and Thane in a few seconds.
"Hmm, so it is you," Thane muttered, seeing the damage fixed in an instant.
Inasmuch as the Skeleton King could control bones, it could not heal anything other than itself. Especially not from this distance.
"Hehe, don't tell me you're just noticing." The lanky skeleton spat.
The Skeleton King had another unique ability most didn't know about. It was his ability to possess whatever he controlled, making that thing and him indistinguishable.
And right now, in body and soul, the lanky skeleton had turned into the Skeleton King.
"Fuck!!" Thane cursed, feigning frustration as he struggled with the Skeleton King.
From the back, Enzo got up and watched this scene, thoughts running through his mind.
Right now, it was only himself, Thane, and the Skeleton King on this cliff. If truly Thane was on the side of the creatures, why wouldn't he just work together with the Skeleton King to kill him?
"He's cunning, that must be it. I… can't trust him," Enzo thought to himself, clearly struggling with the idea.
However, he wasn't privy to the conversation happening between the two during their struggle, if not he would have had a different thought process.
"You're working with the Legion?" The Skeleton King raised his eyebrow as he heard Thane utter some words he had not heard in a long time.
These were control words, engraved in the minds of the guardians to assume control over them when the time was right.
"Yes, now help me kill the boy behind you. Make it look like a mistake." Thane smiled in satisfaction as he looked over at Enzo with the corner of his eyes.
He had secretly been trying to kill Enzo all this while, having him fight against creatures realms above him with no help. But the kid was stubborn and refused to die.
"Hm? Sure!!" The Skeleton King smiled, then lessened the pressure on his bone sword, releasing his grip and pushing back.
However, he didn't stop there. Just as he landed, he broke into a sly smile, sending out his bone sword, causing it to elongate.
But he wasn't aiming at Enzo.
—chuuu!!
The bone sword pierced through Thane, who had unknowingly put his guard down under the notion of control over the Skeleton King.
"What the?" Thane paused for a second before instinctively jumping back as he felt the bone sword expand and take out a massive chunk of his innards, leaving entrails on the floor.
"Hhahaha, infighting is strictly prohibited by the Legion. Don't you see the big bird's bones? Should I draw more parallels?" The Skeleton King laughed and mocked with a crazed look on his face.
Just like the words of control were engraved in the minds of the guardians, an instinctive response to conflict between them was also placed, and it was to prohibit infighting.
However, that control had long since been eroded, and so had the words of control.
They were free to do whatever they pleased.
"Shit." Thane grabbed at the gaping hole in his stomach and frowned. Thank goodness for his zombie lineage, this kind of attack could easily kill a normal person.
More concerning, however, was the information he had just gotten. His words of control had failed, meaning the three guardians were no longer allies but obstacles.
How was he supposed to stop Victoria without any backup?
'This is bad, this is really bad.'
He felt panic distracting him once more, creating an opening for the Skeleton King to launch another attack with his bone sword cutting through the air.
"Watch out!!" Enzo, from out of nowhere, grabbed Thane and rushed him out of harm's way.
"Get your head in the game!!" Enzo barked as he dropped Thane on the ground.
At this point, he didn't care for Thane's plotting. The Skeleton King had tried to kill him too. They were clearly not on the same side right now.
So they had to work together to kill it.
"Ye… Yes." Thane's lips tightened as his gaze returned to him. He stood up and looked at the Skeleton King.
He would work with Enzo for now.
"Okay, let's kill this thing."
The two muttered as both sprinted toward the Skeleton King…..
—boom!!
They collided, Thane using his bare fists to strike at the shield and Enzo whisking to the back, attacking him from there.
In the next moment, several blows were exchanged between the three parties as Enzo and Thane tried their best to end the life of the Skeleton King.
"Fuckers!!"
However, a few minutes later, the three parties separated, and at first glance the damage that had been done was clear.
Thane had lost an arm as it was cleaved off, and Enzo spat out several mouthfuls of blood on the dusty floor. The Skeleton King wasn't just a ruler, he was also an experienced fighter.
But it didn't matter how experienced he was at this point, Enzo and Thane had done a good number on him.
"I'll kill you both!!" The Skeleton King barked with anger as his dilapidated body barely stood. There were drilling holes and chips all over his bony structure, the wounds were so much that even with his healing abilities, he couldn't muster the energy to heal up.
"Enzo!!" Thane tried to get himself, but before he could answer the Skeleton King with his own rebuttal…
Enzo had gulped back his mouthful of blood and flashed forward, disappearing into a shadow and reappearing right behind the Skeleton King once again.
He needed a weapon more powerful than what he had now in preparation for what lay ahead, something strong enough to put him on equal footing with Thane. There was no better chance than this.
So he pulled out another weapon during this dash, something he had saved up for this exact moment.
[Silver Wing Blades – Corrupted]
A silver blade rushed out of his cloak and pierced through the Skeleton King's head as Enzo crashed into it, causing a gust of dust to rise.
"This kid…" Thane shook his head. He could understand the desperation, but this was straight-up dangerous.
Thane was right, of course, as the dust settled and the Skeleton King was still standing, albeit losing its head in its entirety.
"Let me go!!" Enzo cursed at the Skeleton King as he held him tightly by the neck.
His plan had failed. Even without its head, the Skeleton King was still alive.
The skeleton, however, didn't pay him any mind no matter how much he screamed, as it turned to the side and let out a whistle through its rib cage.
All of a sudden, the sky monitor, which was still fighting Nibbleskin, changed directions and moved right for him.
Woom
A few seconds later, it landed on the cliff and the Skeleton King dropped Enzo on the ground.
As it touched the sky monitor, some excess bone flowed into the King's body, repairing its head.
"Fuckers, I don't have time for this. Need to recuperate… that darn pile of blood took too much out of me," the Skeleton King lamented a quiet complaint.
Actually, while fighting the two, it had split its power in half and was fighting the sentient blood at the center of the canyon.
That thoroughly exhausted him; this fight was no longer fun.
"I'll kill you next time," he said, climbing atop the sky monitor.
But before he could leave, Nibbleskin appeared next to Enzo and dropped a massive box beside him.
"It's night time, kid," Nibbleskin, who had several parts of his body bitten off and blood soaking his white fur, said.
Hearing this, Enzo nodded with seriousness and a sigh of relief. He got up and placed his hand on the coffin beside him.
"A friend of ours has been itching to see you." Enzo smirked slyly as the coffin snapped open and a lady in a long red dress stepped out of it, her red hair fluttering in the wind.
Victoria Drakenhart — The Vampire Queen.
