Cherreads

Chapter 37 - Kuoh Academy

In a fairly crowded café, a young girl sat alone. She wore an elegant white dress that perfectly complemented her long, neatly flowing blonde hair.

Her golden eyes were sharp—like those of an ancient beast capable of piercing one's soul with a single glance.

The girl was none other than Kanzaki H. Aria. At that moment, she sat with her eyes closed, savoring a piece of bread in her hand—biting into it slowly, as if cherishing every flavor that melted on her tongue.

On the table before her lay a tray holding an untouched peach bun and a cup of steaming coffee at its side.

Once she finished the bread, Aria reached for the cup and took a casual sip. The warm vapor rose to her face, relaxing her expression.

"Hmm... The peach bun and coffee in this Infinity Room…" Aria murmured, her face glowing with satisfaction. "Truly the best! The taste of... the universe."

But suddenly, her expression shifted. Her brows furrowed sharply. She gripped the coffee cup too tightly until—

CRACK!

The cup shattered in her hand.

Coffee splashed, soaking the table and leaving a few drops on her lovely white dress. Though a little stained, the girl seemed more concerned with something else.

"But… where is that narcissist!?" Aria grumbled in annoyance. "I've been waiting here for an hour! Why hasn't he shown up!?"

The café buzzed on, but Aria's world felt filled with the small fury of a little girl losing her patience.

With an irritated expression, Aria jumped down from her seat. She grabbed the last peach bun from the tray and strode quickly toward the café door, her steps heavy with restrained anger.

"Because he's late…" she muttered angrily, biting the edge of the bun while staring straight ahead. "I'll put holes in his body with my special bullets. Prepare yourself, my servant!"

Her white dress fluttered softly as Aria walked away, leaving behind the scent of coffee and a lingering trace of annoyance in the air.

That morning, the sky stretched wide like a soft blue canvas, painted with thin clouds drifting lazily across it.

Sunlight brushed against the surface of a grand building—Kuoh Academy—casting a warm glow over its tall windows built in a refined modern–classical style.

Around the school, students wandered about—half-asleep, chatting about exams, club activities, or the endless strange rumors that never seemed to stop circulating through Kuoh.

Meanwhile, at the wide-open iron gate, a young man stood calmly—Rian Andromeda, a handsome figure who looked more like a model accidentally dropped into an ordinary school setting.

The official Kuoh Academy male uniform—consisting of a black blazer with white accents over a buttoned white shirt, a black tie at the collar, matching black pants, and formal brown shoes—was supposed to look simple.

But on Rian, it became something else entirely, as if it were a designer outfit meant for a runway.

Even the long black trench coat draped loosely over his shoulders, which should have looked excessive, somehow enhanced his charm—turning into an eccentric yet elegant statement, as though that was the only way such a coat was ever meant to be worn.

A sling bag hung loosely over his left shoulder. His expression was calm, neutral—almost bored—as if today was nothing more than another replay of his already glorious days.

A gentle breeze brushed past, playing with his long jet-black hair that flowed freely like a starless night. Each strand danced softly, moving in rhythm to some silent, dramatic tune that only he could hear.

Suddenly, the lively atmosphere near the gate quieted, just for a moment—frozen in the stillness of morning.

Rian's presence drew the attention of several students who had been rushing, laughing, or chatting. Almost instinctively, their eyes turned toward him.

Some fell silent, others stole quick glances before resuming their conversations—but now with lowered voices and a different tone. All eyes were inevitably drawn to the same point.

It was only natural. The presence of Rian Andromeda simply couldn't be ignored. His face was too striking to pass unnoticed, and the aura that surrounded him carried an unmistakable air of nobility—refined, yet somehow detached from the world around him.

Even the way he stood had a distinct quality: calm, confident, exuding a quiet arrogance without a trace of vanity, as if the entire world were nothing more than a stage prepared solely for his appearance.

Moreover, the faint glimmer of bright blue eyes behind his one-way lenses added a mysterious allure—one that only deepened people's curiosity.

Several girls passing through the gate slowed their steps, unable to resist stealing glances. Whispered voices followed, accompanied by flushed cheeks.

The name "Rian" might not have been well-known yet… but his charisma needed no introduction.

"Eh? Who's that? A new student?"

"He's so handsome… like a mix between an Asian actor and a European noble."

"I've never seen him before… but somehow, he feels familiar."

"Like someone I saw in a fashion magazine. Or… maybe in a dream?"

"Look at him," one girl murmured. "The way he stands, the way he walks… it's so elegant, not like any normal person." She hesitated, eyes wide with awe. "Could he… be a prince from another world?"

Meanwhile, on a bench in the school courtyard, a small girl—no taller than about 138 centimeters—sat quietly, enjoying a choco-chip cookie.

Her white hair reflected the soft glow of the morning sun, and her sharp golden eyes stared straight ahead, as if observing something no one else could see.

Two long bangs framed her face, falling past her shoulders, while a few stray strands rested gently across her forehead.

The short bob cut at the back gave her a neat yet adorable look—further emphasized by a pair of black cat-shaped hair clips on either side of her head.

The girl was none other than Koneko Tojou.

"…Weird human," Koneko muttered softly, not taking her eyes off the scene before her. A piece of cookie disappeared into her mouth. "…His aura is really annoying."

On the other side, the very person who had caught her attention stood silently, his thoughts drifting elsewhere.

Rian exhaled slowly, his gaze fixed on the grand school building in front of him.

In a voice barely above a whisper, Rian muttered, "This handsome man is already twenty-five years old… and now, with this new identity in this world… why does he have to be a high school student?"

His expression shifted slightly, a trace of irritation showing through. He recalled the events leading up to his arrival at this school.

"Worse still… the system actually reduced this handsome man's height from 180 centimeters to 170?!"

"The beloved trench coat of this handsome man… can't even be worn anymore," Rian added in a disappointed tone, remembering his long black coat now hanging uselessly on the apartment's rack. "It's too big. Had to buy a new one on the way here…"

His right hand rose to his temple, massaging it lightly as he closed his eyes for a moment and sighed. "Haah… the path of a handsome man is never easy…" he murmured.

Then, his eyes opened again, glinting with sudden seriousness. "Moreover…" he said quietly, "this handsome man remembers now—"

"This world… its tendency is way too sensual! Like Bayonetta, but mixed with Kamen Rider… or maybe Power Rangers with extra fanservice…" Rian muttered, his brows furrowing sharply.

Rian let out another sigh—longer than before.

"It's better… for this handsome man to stay focused on the mission," he said, his voice calm yet edged with cold resolve.

"Enjoyment? Let's just call it a bonus—if this world manages to be interesting enough."

Behind the tinted lenses, his Six Eyes glimmered faintly, like a frozen lake beneath the light of a full moon.

For a brief moment, Rian allowed his senses to fully awaken. He loosened his glasses slightly—just for an instant—before settling them back in place.

In that fleeting moment, the world before his eyes was no longer made of mere shapes and colors.

He could see and feel with frightening clarity—the auras and strange energies drifting through the air, especially the unique kind of power that danced around the academy grounds.

Some of the sources were hidden deep within the buildings, while others roamed freely outside. All of them, unmistakably, were not human.

"Judging by the readings…" Rian murmured softly, his gaze locking onto an unseen point in the distance. "Power of that scale… some of them surpass even me. At least… authority level four."
