Chapter 26 - First Evaluation

But before he could make his way out, something caught Rian's attention.

Just a few steps away, lying on the platform amid the rubble and smoke, was a small glass vial containing a fragment of golden stone—its faint glow flickering through the haze.

"Hmm?" Rian murmured, stepping closer. "Amber? Nice… another sample for the collection—wait… this one's probably Ada's, huh?"

He paused for a moment, then shrugged. "Alright then, let this handsome and humble man return it personally."

Rian crouched down to pick up the vial from the steel floor—

BANG!

A single bullet whizzed past, striking the ground right next to his foot and scorching the metal surface.

Without looking, Rian picked up the vial anyway. He didn't need to turn around to know who fired the shot.

Slowly lifting his gaze, still half crouched, he saw her—Ada Wong—standing at the edge of the platform, pistol firmly aimed at him.

Ada's face was calm, but her eyes were sharp. Ever since she'd seen the Amber fragment get blown free from Saddler's body after the explosion, she had followed Rian without hesitation.

Rian rose to his feet, turning slowly with a teasing grin. "Hey… this makes twice you've shot at me. Don't tell me you're starting to like me, huh?"

He pointed at himself with his thumb. "The charm of a handsome man like me really is dangerous. Even a woman like you can't resist? Oh man… Rian, you're such a sinner!"

Ada narrowed her eyes, replying coolly, "Careful… sometimes too much charm is exactly why someone gets shot a third time."

With graceful, deliberate steps, Ada approached, her pistol still aimed squarely at Rian's chest.

Without another word, she extended her hand and took the Amber vial from his grasp. Rian didn't resist—just watched her with that faint, playful smile.

"Go ahead and take it," he said casually, giving a slight shrug. "I was planning to bring it to you anyway."

"As always…" Ada replied in her smooth, sultry tone, "your mouth is far too sweet."

"The handsome man takes that as a compliment," Rian said simply, flashing a smirk.

Moments later, the roar of helicopter blades echoed in the distance, growing louder as it approached.

The strong gusts from the rotors whipped across the metal platform, tossing Ada's hair and coat as she strode toward the chopper.

She grasped the rope lowered by the crew, climbing up with practiced grace before standing at the open doorway.

BOOM!

The first explosion rocked the island.

Then another—larger, brighter—erupted in a cascade of fire and steel. Flames engulfed the Los Iluminados facility, marking its complete destruction.

High above, the helicopter hovered steadily. Both Ada and Rian turned their eyes toward the inferno below, silently watching the ruins burn.

Ada looked down at him, her face illuminated by the flickering light of the flames. "Need a lift?"

Rian shook his head slowly, a lazy smile tugging at his lips. "No thanks. A handsome man like me… has his own ride."

He glanced up at her once more. "Ah, right… Ada."

"Hm?" she replied from above.

"In the future… would this handsome man be allowed to hire your services?"

Ada gave a faint, knowing smile as the helicopter began to pull away—its blades drowning out the sound of the burning island below.

"Well…" murmured Rian, watching Ada's helicopter fade into the distance amid the blazing inferno and collapsing ruins. "This handsome man will just take that as a gentle rejection."

He exhaled softly, shifting his gaze toward the total destruction of the Los Iluminados stronghold.

Fire spread across the wreckage, debris rained from the sky, and the heavens themselves glowed crimson under the weight of smoke and flame.

Rian's expression turned calm—serious, yet quietly reflective.

"SYSTEM," he said in a low, steady voice. "Return this handsome man to the Infinity Room. This handsome man is ready for Evaluation."

Ding.

In an instant, faint light shimmered around his body before he vanished completely—no sound, no trace, as though his existence had been nothing more than a mirage carried away by the sea breeze.

As brief as his arrival had been, so too was his departure—silent, leaving behind nothing but ruins… and a faint whiff of expensive cologne from nowhere in particular.

***

Inside a narrow room with dark brick walls, dimly lit and marked by a single red wooden door, Rian stood tall.

The place was familiar—the same waiting room he'd been in before being sent to the world of Resident Evil 4.

The difference was striking, though. There were no overturned chairs or shattered tables from his past outburst. Everything was spotless, silent… and oddly peaceful.

Yet the most notable thing wasn't the room itself, but the warm light that suddenly enveloped Rian's body.

It didn't just cleanse the grime and the stench of blood from his clothes—it also soothed the throbbing pain in his head caused by the Six Eyes' overwhelming data flow.

Normally, it would've taken him about thirty minutes to fully recover. This time, it took only seconds.

Rian raised his right hand, examining his outfit, then gave a light sniff.

"The healing facility is the best!" he said proudly with a grin. "Even the fishy smell's gone. Honestly, Infinity Room should start offering extra services… like a Laundry Room."

Before long, Rian's smile faded. His head slowly lowered as his gaze fell upon his right arm—now trembling ever so slightly. His heartbeat pounded in his chest, out of sync with the calm silence of the room.

Memories crashed into his mind like waves: the massacre of the Ganado in Valdelobos Village, the chaos in Salazar's castle, and the destruction of Saddler's experimental facility on the island.

In a low voice, almost a whisper, Rian muttered, "Back there… I killed so many Ganado. Even though my soul felt uneasy… Six Eyes kept justifying it."

In essence, Six Eyes—much like Gojo's in Jujutsu Kaisen—granted him absolute perception and extreme analytical understanding of the world around him: every movement, every flow of energy, every intent, every potential threat.

This ability, being purely rational and objective, made Six Eyes treat enemies as numbers and data rather than living beings.

So when Rian killed the Ganado, Six Eyes didn't see them as humans—it read them as 'biological threats,' 'infection targets,' or 'parasitic anomalies.'

There was no recognition of emotion, no sense of humanity in the victims.

Everything was logically justified—as preventive action or mission efficiency.

In other words, Six Eyes prioritized extreme logic—never empathy.

Rian couldn't help but let out a long sigh, tilting his head back to stare at the dark ceiling.

"This handsome man's scared he'll end up turning into a psychopath," he said bitterly. "But well… the path of a handsome man was never meant to be easy."

At that very moment, a system notification appeared before his eyes, displaying the Mission List, Evaluation screen, and the rewards he had earned for completing all the main objectives.

Ding!

As a reminder, evaluations within the Infinity Room are ranked across four standard tiers: S, A, B, and C. However, there exists one exceedingly rare classification—attainable only by a handful of Heralds—known as the EXTREME tier.

"An Extreme Evaluation on the very first mission?" Rian said, running his hand through his hair like the lead in a shampoo commercial. "This handsome man truly defies logic… especially with a face this absolutely perfect!"
