[Congratulations! You've obtained Valkyrie armor: White Comet]
Seeing this notification pop up, Bai Ming nearly blacked out on the spot.
The reason was simple — this was an outdated Valkyrie battlesuit.
In an age where new suits started at S-rank, this old B-rank model simply didn't cut it anymore. Its performance and utility were both bottom-tier — just like its name implied: even if you practice with it, it's pointless.
The only noteworthy thing about it was that it happened to be the first suit every new Captain ever had when they started the game.
But nostalgia alone couldn't save it.
By now, it was little more than storage-room junk.
Its only real use was in a few niche combo setups — otherwise, it was long past its prime.
"Seriously?! They're still putting this thing in the gacha pool? Shouldn't it have been discontinued ages ago?! That's 280 crystals down the drain!"
Bai Ming clutched her head, looking absolutely devastated.
"Bai Ming? What's wrong?" came March 7th's worried voice from behind.
Bai Ming turned around and saw her — hands clasped together, her face tight with concern. She was clearly genuinely worried.
"Ah, Marchy!"
Bai Ming suddenly lunged forward, burying her face into March 7th's chest.
"Eh?!"
March 7th froze, unsure whether she should push her away or not.
"What happened? You were just picking up a baseball bat — how did it come to this?"
"I... I bricked my gacha pull!"
"Wh–what? Brick? Gacha? What are you even talking about?"
Realizing mid-sentence that explaining she'd drawn a useless suit might sound insane, Bai Ming quickly changed her words.
"N-No! I just... I just smelled..."
"Smelled what?" March 7th asked curiously.
Bai Ming's cheeks reddened as she blurted out:
"...that you smell really nice. Your scent it's amazing!"
Bai Ming lifted her head and looked up at March 7th, her golden eyes blinking innocently.
"It smells really nice! So I just... had to come over!"
"Y–You…"
March 7th's face instantly turned bright red again. She gently pried Bai Ming off her chest, step by step, she backed away a few paces.
"Geez! Don't say stuff like that!" she scolded, flustered. "If someone hears you, they'll definitely get the wrong idea!"
"Okay, okay~ got it, hehe~"
Bai Ming stuck out her tongue playfully, brushing off the whole situation as if nothing had happened.
"You're so weird…"
March 7th put her hands on her hips, frowning slightly as she studied Bai Ming.
"You look like the type who's supposed to be all cool and composed, but then you go and do stuff like that! Totally not the vibe I was expecting…"
"Huh?"
"Hmph."
What March 7th said suddenly made Bai Ming realize something —bEver since she arrived here, she'd been so busy looking around and reacting to everything that she'd completely forgotten to check herself.
If I really crossed over… then did my appearance change too?
"Hey, March! You got a mirror?"
"Mirror?"
March 7th blinked, tilting her head, then nodded. "I do, actually. But… what do you need it for?"
"I wanna see myself…"
Though the answer sounded a little odd, March 7th still handed over her mirror to Bai Ming.
Bai Ming took the mirror into her hands and let out a small sigh of relief.
"Phew— good, it's still my face. Didn't end up wearing someone else's this time."
That alone made her feel a lot better.
"What's wrong?" March 7th asked, tilting her head in confusion. "Did something look off?"
"Nope!" Bai Ming shook her head quickly, waving the baseball bat she'd picked up earlier.b"Didn't you say we're heading back to the Master control zone? Let's get moving!"
"Mm, alright then!"
The two of them began walking together.
As they moved, Bai Ming kept glancing around at her surroundings, her curiosity already starting to bubble up again.
Bai Ming started talking as they walked.
"There's all sorts of strange stuff around here—these so-called Curios, right? Ugh, Herta collects so many of them and then just lets them sit here gathering dust. What's even the point?" She sighed, muttering to herself. "Maybe she just wants to be a hamster or something."
"Ham…ster?" March 7th turned to her, puzzled. "What does that mean?"
"It's when someone fills a huge warehouse with all sorts of stuff they've collected and feels super satisfied just looking at it!" Bai Ming gestured with her hands to show the size. "Imagine it, March—your whole storage filled with your own treasures! Wouldn't that make you happy?"
"Uh… I think the first thing I'd feel is… cluttered," March 7th said with a wry smile.
"Really? Wow, didn't expect that from you!" Bai Ming laughed.
The two girls chatted idly as they arrived before a sealed control door. March 7th lifted her arm and scanned it across the console. With a soft beep, the door slowly slid open, revealing a corridor leading deeper inside.
Like the place where Bai Ming had first woken up, the walls on either side gleamed with a high-tech glow—but now there were also some plants growing along the edges, and bright signs decorated the walls. Everything looked calm and perfectly normal.
That peace shattered the moment they turned the corner.
Two grotesque creatures—each with blades attached to their arms.
In the middle of the corridor stood a core-like entity, flanked by the two blade-armed monsters. They were glancing around sharply, as if searching for their next target.
The moment March 7th spotted them, she shouted— "Ah! The Antimatter Legion! Those menises actually made it this far! Watch me take them down!"
As she spoke, a strange light shimmered at her waist. In the blink of an eye, a bow—matching the color of her outfit and her bright eyes—materialized from pure energy.
She swiftly gripped it and drew the string back, her movements focused and precise.
A cold, icy-blue light began to gather at the arrow's tip, radiating a chill so sharp that even a single glance could make one shiver.
March 7th narrowed her eyes and held her breath—preparing to strike.
It looked like March 7th was carefully aiming at the enemies she had called the Antimatter Legion. But just then—
Bai Ming suddenly reached out from behind her, stopping her bow mid-draw. The abrupt motion made enough noise to alert the monsters.
The Antimatter creatures immediately turn their heads toward the sound— Fortunately, March 7th reacted quickly, pulling Bai Ming back behind the corner before they could be seen.
"Bai Ming! What are you doing?!"
March 7th whispered harshly, a little angry and shaken. Her attack had been interrupted, and that kind of mistake could've been dangerous.
"March, I'm sorry!" Bai Ming quickly apologized. "I just wanted to take your place and handle them myself!"
"Huh? Take my place?" March 7th blinked in confusion.
"Yeah!" Bai Ming twirled the baseball bat in her hands, eyes gleaming with confidence.
"I'll show them what it means to face the Kaslana family's legendary baseball bat!"
