Chapter 9 - Chapter 9

As the words reached them, both March 7th and Bai Ming instinctively turned their gaze to the side. There stood Dan Heng.

Immediately, March 7th, who had been struggling with Bai Ming over the baseball bat, was startled by Dan Heng's sudden, almost ghostly appearance and instinctively stepped back several paces.

"Whoa! why are you here!? ... and how did you get your before us?"

March jump back in slight surprise as Bai Ming snickered slightly at March's actions.

Dan Heng looked up at the elevator analyzing the situation.

"I took another route, coming around from the upper level. I happened to see you two from the upper level," he explained.

"So…" Dan Heng's gaze settled March 7th and Bai Ming. "What exactly were you doing just now?"

"Uh…?"

Sensing that Dan Heng's tone wasn't quite right, March 7th took a few small steps back to give some distance. Then, she pointed at Bai Ming.

"I'm reporting her! She's about to smash this control panel!"

"Ah! March 7th you snitch!"

"Is that really the case?"

Dan Heng crossed his arms, turned to Bai Ming, and spoke with a straight face: "Let me make this clear: I don't know how to fix the elevator, nor the control panel. If you go ahead and do this, you might be held responsible for any subsequent damages to the space station. The Astral Express isn't responsible for the damage you caused so I hope you mind thinking...."

"Wh… what?!" Bai Ming hurriedly waved her hands. "No, no! I wasn't thinking about that at all."

As she said this, Bai Ming patted the control panel behind her, which glowed with an orange light. "I just thought it was really being mean by not letting us go up to the Master control zone! Right, March 7th?" Bai Ming nudged March 7th with her elbow.

"Don't drag me into this!" March 7th quickly clarified. "I never thought about taking apart the control panel!"

Dan Heng paused for a moment, then continue with the conversation: "So… technically, no actual property damage has occurred, right?"

"Y-yeah!" Bai Ming nodded quickly, but after a moment, she shook her head. "Uh… actually, it did cause a bit of damage."

Dan Heng's expression immediately turned serious. "What kind of damage are we talking about?"

"Uh, this…" Bai Ming used both hands to form a small circle, demonstrating the extent. "Is damage of this size a problem?"

Dan Heng thought for a moment, then murmured, "If it's only that big, there shouldn't be any major issue. After all, whether anyone would even notice is still uncertain."

Hearing Dan Heng's words, Bai Ming slightly enlarged the circle formed by her hands. "What if it's this big? What would happen then?"

Dan Heng furrowed his brow slightly, his expression showing a hint of…

Dan Heng appeared deep in thought.

"If it's at that level, it still shouldn't be a problem."

Bai Ming's confidence began to grow.

"Then what if it's like this?"

She spread her hands wide, no longer keeping them close together.

Dan Heng remained silent for a while. After some time, he finally spoke slowly: "You can just tell me the actual size directly. No need to test it step by step."

"Uh… okay." Bai Ming nodded.

Carefully, she took the baseball bat that March 7th had given her and began drawing a circle on the ground.

As the circle she drew grew larger, Dan Heng's expression became increasingly incredulous.

When the circle finally closed, he seemed unable to hold back any longer and directly said: "You… your name is Bai Ming, right?"

"Y-Yes, that's me!"

"Then you'd better put your stuff away and get out of here quickly."

Bai Ming immediately realized what Dan Heng meant. "Is it really that serious?!"

"With damage over such a large area, it's basically like dismantling the space station. If we leave now, we should still make it," Dan Heng said earnestly, making Bai Ming believe him completely.

She couldn't help but think: why does a person who just got transported here have to start running immediately? Becoming a wanted criminal can't happen this fast, right?

The life of the traveler Bai Ming came to an abrupt halt before it even began! Bai Ming try to think of anything to help her in the situation but in the end it came to one conclusion Bai Ming's brain.exe had stopped functioning.

"Hey!" March 7th shook her. "It's not like that! Bai Ming you have to explain the premise for why you did it!"

"Premise?"

Dan Heng asked as he gave glanced at March 7th.

"Yeah!" March 7th nodded in agreement.

"She was fighting against that group of the Anti-Matter Legion! That's why the damage reached that level!"

"Fighting the Anti-Matter Legion?"

Dan Heng furrowed his brows, sensing that something was off. "She… could really do that much damage?"

"Yes!" March 7th explained seriously.

"I was actually planning to teach her a bit of combat techniques but in the end, she just completely dealt with all of them!"

"How did she manage that?" Dan Heng asked.

"Uh… that's…" March 7th quickly patted Bai Ming on the shoulder. "Bai Ming, you answer him! Hurry up!"

"Well then, Dan Heng, I'll demonstrate it for you!"

Quickly composing herself, Bai Ming immediately activated [Valkyrie Armor: White Comet]. Even though there were no enemies, she replayed the entire process in front of Dan Heng and March 7th with her familiar, skilled maneuvers.

However, unlike last time, at the end, Bai Ming didn't summon Neko-chan that would crush the monsters in midair. She definitely didn't want to leave another massive paw print here.

"and that's what happened!"

After finishing the demonstration Bai Ming de-summoned the armor with confidence in her eyes.

Dan Heng, still savoring the fluid and seamless process he had just witnessed, took a moment before speaking.

"In that case, I have a suggestion… though I'm not sure if I should say it."

"Go ahead!" Bai Ming replied immediately. "We might as well start escaping right now!"

"No, not that…"

Dan Heng looked at the damage inevitably caused by Bai Ming's demonstration. "Let's just classify this kind of destruction as unavoidable external force."

"Unavoidable external force?"

Bai Ming blinked her beautiful golden eyes.

"What does that mean?"

"It's because of the crisis caused by fighting the Anti-Matter Legion. The massive destruction was just a side effect of the emergency measures we had to take."

"Uh…" Bai Ming was a little stunned. A simplified, idiot-proof explanation.

"Basically, we're just blaming all the damage on the Anti-Matter Legion," Dan Heng said directly.

"Oh—!" Bai Ming clapped her hands, her expression suddenly enlightened.

"Now I get it! So I don't have to pay for it! Yay!"

Bai Ming quickly threw her arms around March, her face nuzzling into the girl's neck.

"Isn't that amazing!" she exclaimed, her voice full of excitement.

"Y-Yes… it's amazing…" March stammered, her cheeks turning pink. "But could you… let go of me first?"
