Weekend ended and Jayden hadn't called or texted. He didn't even bother to check up and see if the wound was any better. It was already midweek and still nothing from him.
She passed the pitch every time she was coming home from school, and it was like he was running away from the pitch.
Emma had taken him off her mind and realized all that happened just happened at the spur of the moment. Like, common... That was an international star right there... What was he even finding with her in the first place?
He hadn't showed up at the field since the weekend... According to the kids.
Meanwhile, her face was good now. The swelling was down, and it was just a matter of time till it was hard to notice she had an injury there.
Friday came quick, and Emma was in her room seeing a movie when her phone rang. She stared at her screen for a while and ignored it 'cause she didn't want to pause her movie and wouldn't miss a scene for a moment.
Same number called a couple more times, and it didn't take long before she put her phone on DND.
It was night already, and Emma had just stepped out of the bathroom. She picked her phone up to check the time, and it rang once more.
She picked up the call without hesitation.
"Emma...???" A familiar voice resounded. It was more like a question.
"Who's this?" she asked, playing coy.
"It's Jayden."
Emma stared at her screen for a while and then placed the phone back on her ear.
"I...I didn't get that," she said with excitement all over her voice.
"Said it's Jayden," he said again.
"Hmm, so you remembered me, huh?" Emma said with a pout on her face.
"Told you I had a busy week ahead... Was out of the country the first three days, had meetings to attend the next few days, and then a gala night."
"You were pretty much all over the internet yesterday," Emma teased.
"You think I'd ever forget a personality like yours, Emma?"
Jayden flattered Emma, making her blush.
"Why'd you call?" Emma asked.
"Almost like you don't want me to."
"No.. Not that... It's just that..." Emma stuttered, trying to find the right word.
"It's fine... Hope you've not forgotten about tomorrow," Jayden questioned.
"Tomorrow?"
"Ohhhh, Saturday!" Emma exclaimed.
"The date..." Jayden said to her.
"Ohhhh yeahhh!" Emma squealed.
"I think I'd have to rain check first..." Emma started, trying to hide her laugh.
"I'm sorry for any inconvenience... Didn't mean to just call and expect you to be free anytime" Jayden said sincerely.
"No, I'm just kidding!" Emma said. "I'm free... Totally free!"
"So you're down for tomorrow?" Jayden asked.
"Definitely."
"I want you to wear something nice... It's a date, so be dressed like you're on for your prom" Jayden instructed.
"A'iye a'iye, captain!" Emma joked.
"So how was your day?" Emma questioned.
"Huhhh... Emma, I'm so sorry, but I have to go... I'd pick you up tomorrow like six-ish," Jayden said.
"Ohhhh, A'ight."
"Yeah," Jayden said as he ended the call.
Emma proceeded to save his name. She thought for a while and pondered on what to save it as. Then a name came to her mind - 'Footballer Crush'. Not so slick, but that was the only name in her mind.
She saved his number and proceeded to call Mandy.
