Thousands of people. Media trucks. Security everywhere. The Eternity Project had orchestrated this perfectly. A public resurrection. Broadcast worldwide. Proof that death was optional.
And at the center, on a stage surrounded by medical equipment and magical apparatus, was Riley Blackwood's preservation pod.
Sera stood on a rooftop three blocks away. Watching through binoculars. Her heart hammered. Through the bond, Kael felt her pain. Her desperate hope that maybe, somehow, Riley could be saved.
"Security is heavy," Emma said. She was beside Sera. Her own binoculars focused on the stage. "Private military. Armed guards. Magical wards. We can't just walk in."
"We don't need to walk in. We just need to get close enough." Sera lowered her binoculars. "The demonstration is scheduled for noon. Twenty minutes from now. That's when they'll activate the resurrection. When Riley's soul is most vulnerable."
