"I apologise, Alpha. But Elder Benedict's family, they are under attack. There is a mob at the house. They want them to answer for his crimes too. They want them gone."
Willie delivered the words in one breath.
Ravok shrugged. "Seems fair."
Willie stared at him. He honestly wondered if the alpha was still half asleep and had somehow missed the part where innocent people were about to be torn apart by an angry mob.
"Jean is there!" Willie blurted.
Ravok's brow furrowed slightly as he processed that. "Oh! Right!" he said after a beat. "The girlfriend." He waved a hand vaguely, like this clarified everything. "Well, handle it! You are the Beta of Crestwood now. Your word is law. Go there and fix it."
Willie's mouth opened in disbelief. "Alpha!"
But Ravok had already turned and walked back into the bedroom, clearly done with the conversation.
Willie hovered in the doorway.
"How will you learn how to swim if I don't throw you in the deep end?" Ravok called from inside the room.
