Eric returned home that night, Sera was feeling a whole lot better. The wolfsbane had done its job. His shoulders were still tense from the long day. He had come home knowing he needed to at least pretend to prepare for the engagement.
He had barely taken two steps inside when sudden movement rushed toward him. His mother tackled him, frantic.
"Eric…"
His arms instinctively came up to steady her as she clung to him. "Mom? Whats going on? Why…what happened?" Eric asked.
Claudia was trembling.
Eric saw tears streaking down her cheeks.
"I'm so sorry, Eric. I'm sorry. I'm sorry."
Eric frowned deeply, confusion tightening his brow. "Mum! Whats this? What are you doing?"
Claudia shook her head, wiping at her face. "I shouldn't have pushed. I shouldn't have gone to the triple goddess. I shouldn't have done anything. I should have just let things happen."
"Whats bringing this on?"
