Chapter 3 - New World

Something flashed in the darkness, making Ethan unable to see anything with his eyes; it was as though he had lost his sense of sight.

As this happened, memories started to pour into his mind, memories of a person with the same name as him, Ethan.

Memories started from childhood and ended at the age of 18, with the last memories containing him leaving the village he was in.

After the transfer of the memories, Ethan was once more able to see.

He was still inside the same room, lying while breathing heavily, as his body was wet with sweat.

"Ha-ah." "Ha-ah."

Once Ethan controlled his breathing, his mind adjusted to the memories as the realization dawned on him.

This time, as his eyes wandered the surroundings, he saw the stark difference. The room looked old, a huge contrast to a normal house on Earth.

Seeing these things, memories of the person he had just received now surfaced.

He stood up from the bed, his legs shaking lightly as he moved towards the mirror, present on the side of the closet.

The face he saw was both familiar and unfamiliar.

In his previous world, Eden was an average-looking guy with black hair and brown eyes. But the reflection he saw in the mirror was different now.

The person staring back at him was quite a good-looking guy.

With black hair and grey eyes, and a height of about 6'1 fit, he looked like the hottest guy Ethan had ever seen.

Seeing the body he was inhabiting, he felt both unfamiliar and familiar. Unfamiliar because this wasn't his body, and familiar because he had memories of the person to whom this body belonged.

He could remember every moment this guy had experienced, but what he thought and felt was unknown to him.

So even if the memories made this body familiar, the lack of feelings and thoughts made this body unfamiliar.

Quite a contradiction it was.

Trying to digest the things that happened till now, Ethan once again sat on the edge of the bed, his hands pressing his face.

"So, I am really dead," Ethan muttered to himself, before adding again, "And have transmigrated too."

His voice was coming out quite neutral, considering the weight of the world.

"And what the fuck is wrong with this village?" Ethan once again spoke up.

The reason Ethan was speaking like this was that the world he was in right now was a world where you can have sex with anyone, anywhere, anyhow, if you just pay them the right amount.

"Fucking hell." He muttered, dragging his hands from his face.

After adjusting to his whole memories, now consisting of two lives, and trying not to think too much about this weird situation he was in, Eden leaned back on his hands, looking at the ceiling.

'What should I do now?'

He was pretty sure now he was dead, or how else was he supposed to explain all these weird things?

'But really, dying by choking on food and then transmigrating.' He thought, then laughed humorlessly at that.

He wasn't really feeling anything; the feelings to see his family and friends had already dulled in that darkness, and that solidified much more when that weird calm took over his body.

So, should he just start a new life in this world, or should he try to find out how he came here?

He shook his head, clearing his mind as more and more complex thoughts started to come to his mind.

'Let's see what happens.'

Ethan was not the type of guy to kill himself if he got separated from his family or they died.

It didn't mean that he didn't love his family; he loved them. It was because, from birth, his parents had taught him never to quit, no matter what happened, and most importantly, never to kill yourself just because you don't have something or had lost someone.

Because cowards do that.

And these thoughts just got more solidified due to his unnatural calm state of mind that he was having whenever he thought of his previous self.

As he was thinking these thoughts, the door to the room opened, and a woman with blonde hair and blue eyes and a face beautiful enough to make the Earth's top models fail entered the room.

Seeing him, the woman's eyes widened, tears falling from them, and her body started to shake.

Ethan knew the person before him was the mother of this body, Selene Gray, but he didn't know the reason why she was crying.

Ethan's mother ran towards him before hugging him as she started to cry.

"Y-you are awake...sniff...t-thank...oran..."

Ethan didn't know what to do; he didn't even know what the fuck was going on. Maybe it was something related to the sudden blank of his memory after the previous Ethan went out of the village alone.

Not knowing what to do, Ethan hugged the woman back and spoke, "I am fine, Mom."

The word "Mom" rolled quite easily from his tongue, even surprising him for a second. But he understood the reason behind this was the memories that he had.

He didn't have motherly feelings for her, but the memories made it as though he had practiced speaking like that, with her, millions of times.

As Eden's words entered the woman's ears, she started to cry more, burying her head in his chest as her hands clutched his waist tightly, wetting his shirt more.

After a while of crying, the woman leaned back and looked at him and said, "Are you really okay?"

"Yes, Mom," Ethan replied in response.

"But why are you sweating so much?"

Ethan, listening to her question, shook his head and lied through his teeth.

"I don't know."

It was not like he could tell that some weird things had happened, and maybe or maybe not your son was dead, while he was just some random dude that transmigrated here.

And when he was receiving your son's memories, he just sweated profusely due to stress on his body.

While Eden was justifying the reason behind his lying, his supposed mother, Selene, started to panic more.

Seeing her panicking, Ethan sighed internally before speaking, "I am really fine, Mom."

When she heard that, she tried to steady herself before speaking, "Still, I will confer with Mr. Robert about this."

After ending her words, Selene started to stand up and said, "Let's first get you washed up so you can have a meal."
