Emma had a strange dream. In the dream, she hugged a man tightly, her whole body trembling violently.
She felt his hot breath; his breath made her suffocate.
But the man still did not let her go. His low voice kept ringing in her ears, his hot hand tightly wrapped around her waist, as if wanting to get closer.
Suddenly panicked, Emma opened her eyes, facing Alex's half-smiling, half-not-smiling face.
She realized that her hand was on his waist, and his body temperature woke her up. She quickly pulled her hand back, stammering: "Why are you still here?" She turned her face away, her cheeks flushed.
Having an indescribable dream was already embarrassing enough, and in this position, too.
Alex leaned his elbows on the bed, the corner of his lips curled up into a meaningful smile: "What's wrong? After taking advantage of me, are you going to let it go?"
Emma blushed, trying to deny it: "No, it's just that I didn't sleep in the right position."
"Emma, do you know how noisy you were last night? I've never seen anyone sleep as badly as you."
She was so embarrassed that tears were about to fall, and awkwardly explained, "It's really not."
She had always slept alone, never realizing that she didn't sleep well. If it weren't for him lying next to her, and those strange actions and words before, she wouldn't have had such a dream.
Alex looked at her red little ears, his eyes filled with affection. He gently said: "Okay, okay, no."
"But, Emma, I've already said, if you want to take advantage of me, I don't mind."
What's the matter with you?
---
Even after leaving the house, Emma still didn't give Alex a gentle look.
As soon as she entered the company, she was surprised to see that Director Aaron, who rarely appeared, was already in her office.
"Director Aaron, do you have something to tell me?"
Raising her head, Emma saw the man with his back to her slightly tilt his head. That familiar almond-shaped eye, it was Daniel.
"You're here, sit down."
Director Aaron smiled warmly: "Miss Emma, it turns out you know General Manager Daniel; you've hidden it from us very well. If I knew you and General Manager Daniel had such a relationship, I should have let you interview her directly last time."
A layer of ice appeared in Emma's eyes: "Director Aaron, I don't understand what you're talking about."
Director Aaron was stunned, not expecting her reaction to be like this.
Daniel stood up and said softly, "Director Aaron, I want to talk to her privately."
"Okay, okay. You two talk. I'll go downstairs to buy coffee."
Director Aaron tactfully left the room. The atmosphere immediately became stifling.
Daniel pulled out a chair and said softly, "Wife, don't be angry. I just wanted to see you. You didn't answer the phone, so I came up with this plan."
"Have you remembered everything?" Emma asked coldly.
Daniel curled his lips slightly: "Not yet. But that doesn't matter. Wife, if I did something wrong before, I will fix it. Don't be so cold to me, I'm really heartbroken."
"Heartbroken?" She laughed coldly. "How long can you be heartbroken? Is it as long as 1096 days?"
"Daniel, I don't care if you really lost your memory or just pretended. But I've said it before, my husband is no longer your friend. We're divorced, and that's a fact you can't deny."
"So, after we break up, let's make it clear. I've taken back what belongs to me, and the person you've waited for all these years has returned to you. Let's let go of each other. Don't pretend to be serious with me anymore. You lost your memory, you're not stupid. Even if you only remember me, can you fix your own memories?"
"You have never treated me well, and you have never loved me. So, I have no intention of loving you anymore."
"That's not it, wife, you are mine. How could I not love you..." Daniel hurriedly explained.
Emma bluntly interrupted: "Enough. Don't call me wife anymore. Before the divorce, you didn't love me; after the divorce, what the hell do you love?"
"Do you know what a qualified ex-husband is like?"
Daniel shook his head. He didn't want to know, nor did he want to be an ex-husband. The moment he searched the whole house and couldn't find his and Emma's marriage certificate, all his defenses collapsed.
But Emma didn't bother to pay attention to such a hypocrite and schemer, just calmly said: "If there's nothing else, I'll go to work."
Stella stood watching and eavesdropping. She smiled. If it were her, she wouldn't miss such a good opportunity. So what, ex-husband, ex-husband can still be a good stepping stone to a higher position.
When Emma returned to her seat, the entire office seemed unable to sit still.
First, Cindy hurried forward, her voice full of curiosity: "Emma, why did the boss call you to the office just now?"
Everyone knew that Daniel, the young general manager of Sterling Group, had just arrived. If it were an interview or some other topic, why would he give it to an intern like her?
Emma was annoyed, her voice impatient: "What does it have to do with you?"
"Why doesn't it have to do with me? I'm just afraid that if someone wants to be promoted, there's no problem. Did the boss really give you the topic of interviewing General Manager Daniel?"
Emma glared: "You're so imaginative. Did you change your career to become a screenwriter?"
"You..." Cindy choked. "I think you're really guilty. You've been at the top of the gossip charts these past few weeks; there must be something fishy."
Emma stood up, crossed her arms in front of her chest: "Every article I write is written, edited, and approved by myself. Instead of doubting others here, why don't you think carefully about your topic? People with dark thoughts see everything as dark. Stupid, incompetent people only know how to find excuses to hide their incompetence."
In the practice area, the atmosphere was as tense as a bowstring. At this moment, Stella stepped forward, smiling and asked: "What are you talking about so excitedly?"
Cindy turned back angrily: "Sister Stella, I want to report. I suspect that Emma used deceitful tricks to gain the right to interview."
Stella laughed coldly: "Oh? Whose right to interview is that?"
"It's the young general manager of Sterling Group."
"Idiot," Stella cursed inwardly, but still kept a smile on her lips: "But Emma is the person appointed by General Manager Daniel. The General Manager wants his wife to interview him. I think there's no problem."
Everyone was stunned: "Wife?"
"Sister Stella, you said Emma is CEO Daniel's wife?"
"Impossible." Cindy firmly said, "That day Emma's husband came to pick her up, we all saw it. It was clearly not CEO Daniel."
Emma no longer wanted to participate in this drama; she coldly said, "I correct you, it was my ex-husband. My current husband is definitely not him."
Daniel stood from afar watching the scene of her being surrounded, hearing those cold, sharp words; he clenched his fists, his face darkened.
That cold man that day held the marriage certificate too quickly, making him unable to see clearly what the person's name was.
He must find out who exactly stole his wife.
