Chapter 38 - One of them

All characters and story belong to Kohei Horikoshi and Masashi Kishimoto

Bakugo, who was pinned to a tree by the kusanagi, had no way to dodge Orochimaru's attack. So he figured the best thing to do was attack with his free arm.

—DIE, FUCKING DEMON! —With his left hand, Bakugo created a multitude of medium-sized explosions to stop the advance of Ororchimaru's head. But Orochimaru's neck was very elastic and very agile and he managed to dodge all the explosions with ease. When he was a few centimeters from Bakugo's neck, Orochimaru opened his mouth and sank his fangs into the left side of Bakugo's neck.— AAAAAAAHHHHHH! —the ash-blonde screamed in pain.

The sound ninja moved his head away from the ash-blond's neck and shrank his neck to a normal size, about twenty meters away from Bakugo. The young hero touched his neck, and when he pulled his hand away, it was stained with blood from the wound on his neck.

"First the examiner, and now this weirdo. Fucking perverted pieces of shit," Bakugo thought, pissed off by the situation he found himself in and feeling dizzy.

"I hope you survive, Bakugo-kun. If you do, come see me and I'll show you true power," Oroochimaru said, licking his lips. He then flicked his fingers, and the kusanagi flew from Bakugo's shoulder to Orochimaru's right hand.

"Ugh," Bakugo groaned in pain at the kusanagi's movement. Then, the ash-blond fell to his knees on the ground.

He was terribly tired, he didn't understand why, since he hadn't yet lost enough blood for that to be the cause.

"You're probably asking yourself a lot of questions right now, Bakugo-kun," Orochimaru said, slipping the Kusanagi into his mouth. "I told you my katana was unrivaled. I can swing it from a distance with my chakra, and I've infused it with a paralyzing toxin. That's why you're so tired. But that's the least of your problems..." He flashed a grim smile. "That sharp pain in your neck is due to the little gift I gave you."

"Neck pain? What the hell is this geek talking about?" Bakugo thought, his eyes half-closed from the paralyzing toxin. "It's my fucking shoulder that hurts!"

"Mmmmm..." Orochimaru's face changed, revealing a seriousness uncharacteristic of him. "Why aren't you dying of pain?" A second later, the sound ninja was inches away from Bakugo, examining his neck.

Bakugo, who had enough with not falling completely asleep, tried, without success, to look at him in a threatening manner.

"You haven't left a mark. Don't tell me you're one of them, Bakugo-kun?" Orochimaru asked with interest.

"One of them?" Bakugo repeated with difficulty, one eye now completely closed and the other just minutes away from imitating the other.

"One of those who came from another world. They're the only subjects immune to the cursed seal," Orochimaru explained, analyzing the ash-blond's reaction.

The tension and adrenaline Bakugo felt from Oorchimaru's words made his eyes widen despite the paralyzing toxin in his body. He didn't answer the sound ninja's question; his mind was racing at that moment.

"I should have known," Orochimaru said, not needing Bakugo's answer since his face said it all. "That rare explosive kekkei genkai of yours, and doing it without seals at such a young age... I pride myself on my intelligence, but in this case I haven't been able to put 2 and 2 together. It's a shame, I had you as a backup plan in case Sasuke-kun didn't survive the seal. Now my entire plan depends on your partner surviving." He sighed in disappointment. He turned his back on him and slowly walked away from Bakugo, who was still on his knees, hands in the ground, still processing what had just happened.

"Wait!" Bakugo ordered. The command wasn't very convincing, as when he tried to sit up, he fell face first onto the ground from the paralyzing toxin that was already in every corner of his body.

"I'd love to keep playing with you, Bakugo-kun," Orochimaru said, continuing on his way without stopping. "Unfortunately, I'm not interested in you. I already have enough of you as experiments. Some even more interesting than you. My spies tell me the Hokage is fond of you. It's not worth pissing off the yellow lightning bolt over someone like you."

Bakugo tried again and again to get up, but it was useless. When Orochimaru was about fifty meters away, the ash-blond shouted again to get his attention.

"I said stop!" Bakugo shouted, his voice cracking and close to sobbing.

"This isn't fun anymore, Bakugo-kun," Orochimaru said, standing up but still turning his back on her. "It's sad and embarrassing. That toxin will make it so you can't move at least until the exam is over. You'd better save your energy and call your classmates for help."

Orochimaru turned around to say goodbye, but he didn't because now it was Orochimaru's turn to gasp and widen his eyes. What he saw wasn't possible. Bakugo was standing, staggering, walking very slowly and with difficulty toward his position.

"Where are they?!" Bakugo said, staring at Orochimaru with such intensity that it caused the sound ninja to reflexively take a step back, sensing danger.

Orochimaru instantly regained his composure and licked his lips in amusement.

—Well, well. The wounded puppy bares its teeth. My interest in you has increased exponentially. However...—Orochimaru said, turning his back on her again. —I can't waste any more time here. The yellow lightning could appear at any moment, and I'm not ready yet. But don't worry. The next time we meet, I'll place you next to my precious experiments, so you won't feel so alone. —he said in a sinister and macabre manner. —See you later, Bakugo-kun.—With that, he disappeared in a screen of smoke.

—NOOOOOO! —Bakugo shouted, running towards the smoke but this time the toxin managed to defeat him permanently and he lost consciousness.
