Chapter 9 - chapter 9

She's been in the bathroom for almost twenty minutes now.Yuna climbed the stairs to the bathroom between Hana's room and her own.

"Hey, mouse? You still alive in there?" she called, her voice tinged with concern. "Just wanted to make sure everything's fine and that you didn't doze off in the tub."

Hana's nervous voice came from behind the door."Uh… I'm fine! Everything's good. Please don't come in, but… I have a question. Which shampoo and shower gel am I allowed to use? There are a lot of bottles here."

Yuna chuckled softly. "Don't worry, I'm not barging in. You can use whatever you like any of the shampoos, any shower gel. I'll be downstairs, okay, little mouse? If you need anything, just call for me."

About fifteen minutes later, Yuna heard soft footsteps coming down the stairs, and soon Hana appeared in the living room.

"You don't have to stand there like a statue," Yuna said gently. "Go ahead and lie back down on the couch. I even brought you a blanket and a comfy pillow from my room."

Hana carefully lay down again and pulled the blanket close around her.Yuna studied her for a moment. "Wait a second did you not brush your hair, sweetheart? There are plenty of brushes in the bathroom."

"Um… I wasn't sure if I was allowed to use one," Hana admitted shyly. "I didn't want to touch something without asking. I'm just afraid of doing something wrong."

Yuna's smile softened. "You can't do anything wrong here, Hana. And you don't have to be afraid. This is your home now. You can use whatever you want the fridge, the perfume, the brushes all of it. It's all part of your home now."

She stood up with a playful tone. "Hang on, little mouse, I'll grab a brush for you."

Not even a minute later, Yuna returned, brush in hand.

"Alright, sweetheart," she said with a teasing grin, "time for me to brush your beautiful blonde hair. It's my right as your fiancée, after all."

"Come on, sit up a bit for me, okay?"

Hana obeyed shyly, sitting up on the sofa as Yuna began brushing her long hair. It smelled sweet like crisp, fruity apples."Your hair smells amazing," Yuna murmured. "You used the apple shampoo, didn't you? I can tell right away."

She winked playfully."What's wrong, little scaredy-cat? Lost your words just because I'm brushing your hair?" Yuna teased softly. "Better get used to it I enjoy brushing my beautiful fiancée's hair."

A brief silence fell between them before Yuna spoke again, her tone thoughtful.

"Hey… can I ask you something a little silly? What do you think of me? I mean, do you find me attractive? Pretty? I know it sounds shallow, but I'm curious. Because, well… I find you very beautiful. You're exactly my type."

Hana's eyes flickered away. "Uh… you're pretty. And attractive. Really." Her voice trembled slightly. "I could pretend you're not, but that'd be a lie. It's obvious you're a beautiful woman."She hesitated.

"You also have such a nice face. And… a really nice body. I like that you're tall, too."

Yuna smiled brightly and pulled Hana into a gentle hug, her energy suddenly lifting.

"So I am your type, huh?"Hana looked away, flustered. "I I don't know if you're my type. Honestly, I've never really thought about whether I like men or women… or anyone. And I only found out yesterday that I'm engaged to you, so…"

Yuna let go, smiling softly but just then, the doorbell rang."That must be the pizza!" she exclaimed cheerfully. "Wait right here, little mouse, okay?"

A few minutes later, she returned with two steaming pizza boxes in her hands.

"Here we go, mouse! Dinner's ready!" she said, setting them on the coffee table.

Hana, still wrapped in her blanket, couldn't help but smile faintly.Yuna sat beside her, opened one of the boxes, and a rich aroma of melted cheese, mushrooms, and salami filled the air.

Hana took a slice carefully and bit into it. The warmth and taste surprised her completely.

"Mmm… this is really good," she whispered, her eyes lighting up.

Yuna looked pleased. They ate together quietly, piece by piece, the tension of the day melting away. Their conversation drifted from pizza toppings to favorite flavors to little stories from Yuna's work.

At one point, Yuna mentioned casually that she worked for the military."Nothing exciting," she said with a small grin. "Just administration work a lot of paperwork, not much action."

Then, setting her slice down, she added a bit more seriously,"By the way, mouse I should tell you my work schedule. Monday to Friday, eight to four. Since tomorrow's Monday, I'll be heading out early. So don't worry if I'm gone when you wake up; I leave around seven-thirty."

Yuna kept chatting, light and relaxed. It wasn't deep conversation more like gentle small talk but it felt comforting to both of them, like the beginning of something familiar.

Warmth settled in Hana's chest. When they finished the last slice, she leaned back with a small, content sigh.

"Thank you, Yuna… that was really delicious."Yuna brushed her arm softly. "Anytime, mouse. I just want you to feel at home here and a little happier every day."

After a few quiet minutes, Yuna looked over from the other end of the couch and smiled to herself. Hana was struggling to keep her eyes open.

Yuna couldn't help but giggle softly. Hana looked adorable like that fighting sleep and losing.

"Hey… don't fall asleep on me yet, sweetheart," she said playfully.

Hana flinched a little and blushed, embarrassed. "S-sorry, I didn't mean to fall asleep…"

"You're going to bed now, mouse," Yuna said gently but firmly. "You're tired. Go brush your teeth and then straight to bed, okay?"

Hana mumbled, her voice barely audible,

"I'm an adult… I can decide when to go to bed. And you don't have to remind me to brush my teeth. I know that."

Yuna laughed softly, shaking her head.

"Sweetheart, you know perfectly well that I'm the one in charge in this relationship. I'm older, more experienced and stronger. So when I say it's bedtime, it's bedtime. No arguments."

She smiled tenderly. "Besides, you're exhausted anyway. I'm heading to bed soon too it's been a long day for both of us."

Hana lowered her eyes. "I know you're in charge, but"Before she could finish, Yuna cut in with a teasing grin."No buts, little mouse. Or do you want me to carry you upstairs myself? I'd have no problem doing that."

"I didn't mean it like that…" Hana murmured softly. "Can I just say something?"Her tone was timid but steady.

"Yuna… could you maybe show me where the cleaning supplies are? I'd like to tidy up a bit tomorrow."

Yuna sighed dramatically but smiled.

"Alright, alright otherwise you'll never let it go. The cleaning stuff's in the cabinet under the sink. Happy now, mouse?"Hana nodded slightly.

"That's all. Thanks, Yuna. Good night. I'll go brush my teeth and then sleep. You didn't have to tell me to go to bed I was going anyway."

Yuna chuckled softly."No, you weren't. You were halfway asleep already. So no more arguing or I will carry you."

Hana blushed and turned toward the stairs. "Okay, okay… I'm going…"She climbed the steps slowly, the light from the living room fading behind her.

In the bathroom, she paused in front of the mirror. Her reflection looked tired but somehow calmer."So I really live here now…" she whispered to herself, picking up her toothbrush.

The soft light, the scent of soap, the quiet of the house it all still felt strange. Too peaceful to be real.

When she finished, she slipped into her room. The bed was neatly made, the blanket soft, the hallway light spilling faintly through the door.

She sat on the edge, pulled her knees close, and took a deep breath."She's really kind to me… I don't get it. Is it because she thinks I'm pretty?

Does she really mean what she says? Does she actually love me? I don't understand… there's nothing special about me. Why would anyone fall in love with me?"

She sighed. "Still… I want to stay here. I don't have anywhere else to go anyway.

My father that bastard kicked me out. I'll just listen to Yuna. She's my fiancée… if I do what she says, I'll be fine. But what if she's only pretending to be kind?

What if she just wants to hurt me in the end? She's a mage, after all… what if she lied?"

Her thoughts spun in circles as she stared at the ceiling. The day, Yuna's warmth, the cozy house it all blurred together in her mind, like a soft haze.

Slowly, sleep began to take over.

With one last deep breath, Hana nestled deeper under the blanket.

Her thoughts faded, leaving only quiet warmth behind. And then, peacefully, she drifted off to sleep.
