Chapter 15 - The care

After a while, Suho came out of the room. He was shirtless, holding a water bottle, heading toward the kitchen. As he passed the living room, his eyes caught a faint figure sitting outside in the cold, staring at the night sky.

"Haeun?" he frowned.

He walked closer, feeling the chill run through his skin. "Haeun?" he called again, his voice softer this time.

She snapped out of her thoughts and turned toward him.

"What are you doing out here? It's cold," he said gently, worry lacing his tone. "What if you catch a cold? It's not good for you… or the baby."

He took a few more steps toward her, shivering slightly. "You said you were going to sleep. Now you're sitting out here in the cold?"

She sighed, quickly pulling herself together. "What about you?" she asked quietly. "You're not even wearing a shirt. You'll catch a cold before I do."

She tried to sound casual, as if the crack in her voice wasn't there.

He came and sat beside her, shivering a little from the cold, rubbing his palm.

"You okay? What happened to you suddenly? Why are you sitting out here?" he asked, voice soft with concern.

She quietly took off the shawl she was wearing and handed it to him. "Here, take this, or else you'll freeze out here."

He didn't argue, just accepted it while watching her closely.

"I just… wasn't feeling sleepy," she said after a pause. "So I came out for some fresh air."

Under the dim light, he studied her face, her eyes looked slightly swollen, her expression tired. "Did you cry?" he asked quietly.

Her heart skipped a beat. "N-no," she stammered, avoiding his gaze.

He frowned, his voice lowering. "You did. Your face says it. What happened? Did something hurt you?"

She looked away, trying to compose herself. "No, it's just… You know, mood swings. Maybe your baby wanted me to cry a little," she said with a small, shaky smile.

His eyes softened. "Our little one is troubling you a lot these days," he said gently. "What did it tell you this time that made you cry?"

She smiled faintly. "Nothing. I just… missed someone, so I got emotional."

He tilted his head slightly, watching her. "Did you miss your family?"

She shook her head slowly. "No…"

"Then?" he asked again, his voice calm but persistent.

She smiled faintly, though there was a hint of sadness in her eyes. "Actually… there's someone I miss terribly, but I can't meet that person."

He frowned slightly. "Who?"

Her lips curved into a small, bitter smile. "You ask too many questions. Go inside before you catch a cold. And what are you doing here? Shouldn't you be with Yerin? Where is she?" she asked, quickly changing the subject.

He gave her a small smile. "Yeah… I came out to get some water, but then I saw you sitting here." He glanced toward the door. "Come on, let's go inside. It's too cold out here."

He led her back in, and she followed quietly.

In the kitchen, Suho filled the bottle from the dispenser while she stood near the counter, holding her hands together.

"Do you want me and Yerin to join you?" he asked casually. "If you're feeling lonely, I can ask Yerin to sleep with you."

Hauen looked at him, forcing a small smile. "No, it's fine. Why disturb you two? I'm okay." Her voice was calm, but her smile didn't reach her eyes.

He smiled softly. "No worries. You're carrying my child, so you're my first priority now. Don't hesitate to tell me if you feel low or restless," he said, his voice full of care.

Her heart ached. Why, God? Why does he have to be so sweet that no matter how much I try… it affects me? she thought.

"Thank you for taking care of me. I'm okay now. You should go back to Yerin; it's been a while since you two spent time together. She needs you," she said, forcing a smile.

He returned her smile. "Are you sure?"

She nodded and went toward her room, giving a quiet goodnight.

Suho watched her until she disappeared inside. He ran a hand through his hair, sighed softly, and whispered to himself,"Why do I feel like I'm missing something too?"

His eyes fell on the shawl she had wrapped around him. Oh… she forgot it, he thought, but didn't want to disturb her again, so he walked back to his room.

Yerin was lying on the bed, waiting for Suho. When he entered carrying a water bottle, she frowned. "Where did you go? Why did it take so long?"

He walked over and set the bottle on the nightstand. "Hauen was sitting outside crying… I don't know what's wrong. She just seemed… sad," he said softly.

He set the shawl aside and lay down beside Yerin. She snuggled into his chest, her voice tinged with upset. "So… you went to console her?"

He looked down at her, a hint of concern in his eyes. "Hmm… yeah. I don't really know what's wrong. She said she missed someone she can't meet."

Yerin looked up at him, her lips pouting. Suho noticed and gently asked, "What happened to you?"

She frowned and said, "You were so happy a few minutes ago, and now you seem worried about her. You've been thinking about her a lot these days… and for some reason, I don't like it."

He gave a faint smile. "Come on, baby… what are you thinking? She's carrying a child, going through a lot. She needs someone to be with her, to comfort her emotionally."

She pouted again. He gently cupped her cheeks. "Don't be upset… just understand her situation. You know, if you were in her place, I wouldn't have left your side for a second. But I can't do that for her. But at least I can talk to her when she's upset, right?"

She snuggled into his chest and mumbled, "Whatever… but I don't like sharing my man with anyone, physically or emotionally. Still… I've been doing this for months."

She hugged him tightly, and he wrapped his arms around her, holding her close.

He smiled and gently kissed her hair, rubbing her bare back. "My baby girl is… jealous, huh?" he teased.

"Don't talk to me," she mumbled.

He grinned. "Why?"

"I'm upset with you," she said softly.

He chuckled and whispered, "If you're upset, then why are you cuddling me, baby?"

She looked up at him with a pouty face. He smirked. She snuggled back into his neck and whispered, "Because I love you."

He smiled and pulled her close, embracing her tightly, planting soft kisses on her hair. "Jealous baby," he murmured.

And just like that, they drifted off to sleep together, wrapped in each other's warmth.
