I couldn't stay still after I heard Lucian had made her cry. I was pacing in the living room, the tension in my chest building with every passing second. It wasn't surprising—Lucian had always been cruel, and Raven had been his target for as long as I could remember. He'd warned me that my involvement with her wouldn't stop him from his relentless pursuit to break her. But this? This was different. I never expected him to go so far, to actually break her to the point where she was crying.
And then, it was Xavier who asked, almost jokingly, "Who made Raven cry?" The question was casual, like he didn't already know the answer. We didn't need to guess. The culprit was always Lucian. Always.
