Chapter 97 - Direction

Seeing the Shadow Ball shoot over, the other nine people secretly thought This is bad, Scyther is in trouble.

But Eichi remained calm and commanded, "Scyther, use Double Team."

Just as the Shadow Ball was about to strike Scyther, Scyther split into more than ten duplicates. The Shadow Ball passed through one duplicate and hit the rock face nearby, shattering the rock instantly.

Scyther's ten or more duplicates instantly surrounded Mightyena.

Seeing this, Teacher Mo revealed an expression that said, "I figured you would use that move."

"Mightyena, use Hidden Power."

Mightyena stomped forcefully on the ground. The surrounding area of the ground quickly vibrated. Mightyena's Hidden Power was of the Ground-type.

The attack covered all the duplicates. Upon being hit, all the duplicates vanished, and Scyther itself was also struck, falling to the ground.

Teacher Mo said confidently, "Mightyena, finish it off using Fire Fang."

In the current situation, everyone on the sidelines felt that Eichi was certain to lose this time, and a comeback was impossible.

Tetsu teased Hirota, "Looks like I was right."

Hirota stared intently at Scyther on the field. Without turning his head, he said, "It's too early to say that. No one can claim victory until the very last moment."

On the other side, Mightyena lunged toward Scyther, sparks already flying from its mouth.

It bit down on Scyther's body and Scyther let out a cry of pain.

Mightyena thought it had won, but it quickly realized something was wrong because the Scyther in front of it began to disappear.

Oh no, murderous intent!

Right above Mightyena's head, Scyther's fierce face suddenly appeared.

"Scyther, use Brick Break."

Scyther's mastery of Brick Break had now reached the Mastery level. With a swing of its scythe, a white glow burst forth, powerfully cleaving down onto Mightyena's body.

Mightyena cried out in agony and was knocked flying, crashing into a rock. It instantly lost its ability to battle.

Both Teacher Mo and the other students were astonished. Eichi had actually managed a reversal, earning a decisive win.

Only Hirota smiled. Tetsu saw this and smiled helplessly, "I failed as Eichi's good friend. I didn't even have as much confidence in him as you did."

Scyther stood on the rocky ground, clapped its two scythes together, producing a metallic sound, and then raised its scythes high.

Eichi shook his head helplessly. This girl is doing it again. He took out a Poké Ball and recalled Scyther. "Nice job, Scyther."

Eichi had not issued a command for the Substitute move that was just used. Actually, during regular training, Eichi had told Scyther that in future battles, once it used Double Team, it should prepare the Substitute move.

So, during the battle, after Mightyena eliminated all the duplicates, Scyther had secretly channeled energy, hiding itself the moment Mightyena attacked, leaving only a Substitute.

Teacher Mo took out a Poké Ball and recalled Mightyena. He said, "Not bad, Eichi! Your practical combat experience is very rich. It looks like you've been through quite a few battles. I don't have much to instruct you on. You can step down. Next."

After Eichi stepped down, Teacher Mo addressed the next person.

Everyone's attention turned to Tetsu. Tetsu had no choice but to step forward and battle Teacher Mo.

Tetsu sent out Flaaffy, while Teacher Mo switched to a Stantler. Its Talent Grade and Trainer Rank were similar to Mightyena's.

But this time, Tetsu did not replicate Eichi's success. He was defeated by Teacher Mo. Tetsu then came down with a look of dejection.

None of the next few individuals managed to defeat Teacher Mo. Their battles ended quicker than the last.

The only unexpected result was Kelly. Kelly surprised Eichi a little. Her practical combat ability was not this strong before, but now Eichi felt it had greatly improved.

When everyone had finished their battles, class was almost over. Teacher Mo gave targeted instruction to everyone except Eichi.

After class, Eichi and Tetsu ate dinner, then returned to their respective dormitories.

After resting for a while, Eichi used Bug Force in the dormitory to heal Scyther. Then, he took both Pokémon to the Training Room for a training session.

After paying, he took the Room Key Card, opened the Training Room door, and went in to let both Pokémon start training.

While training, Eichi was also contemplating.

His future opponents' command and response abilities would be completely different from those he had faced so far.

They would also arrange various tactics. For example, Teacher Mo today clearly had many tactics planned for Mightyena, allowing it to respond flexibly to various types of Pokémon.

The same was true for other Pokémon. The moment Tetsu and the others released their Pokémon, Teacher Mo had already planned how to deal with them.

Eichi had realized the importance of tactics a few months ago, but until now, he had only made simple tactical arrangements, such as telling Scyther to use Substitute when using Double Team today. A move like Substitute could not be used after a Trainer's command, or it would be exposed and ineffective.

From now until the Freshmen Tournament, he should focus on studying tactics, especially tactics targeting Sato.

The last incident also showed him Sato's Pokémon. He forgot to activate the Eye of the Bug Emperor that time, so he didn't know his Pokémon's Talent Grades and Trainer Ranks. However, given Sato's background, his Pokémon's Talent Grades and Trainer Ranks should not be low.

Watching Beedrill train diligently, Eichi suddenly thought that Beedrill's future path should be that of a Physical Attacker, like an assassin, defeating its opponents in the shortest time with extreme speed and extreme attack power. Scyther's future role will be the team's close-range physical attacker, invincible in melee combat.

Eichi already had a very favored Bug-type Pokémon in his heart. His future team could not do without it, but those are matters for the future.

Currently, Beedrill's Weighted Vest was adjusted to 5x gravity, which was the maximum gravity of the device, and Scyther's gravity had been adjusted to 3x gravity 2 days prior.

After training, Eichi returned to the dormitory, removed the Weighted Vest from them, and gave them a bath, followed by a massage. During the massage, he infused the Bug Force into Beedrill and Scyther's bodies. Both Pokemon enjoyed it greatly.

Suddenly, the cyan flame inside Beedrill's body surged, raising its Talent Grade from Excellent to Outstanding.

Eichi immediately congratulated it, "Beedrill, congratulations! Your Talent Grade has reached Outstanding."

Beedrill responded, "Drill Drill (Thank you, Master)."

Eichi said, "Outstanding is not the end. You will definitely reach Champion in the future. You too, Scyther."

Eichi then comforted Scyther. Scyther's Talent Grade was Excellent, and it should be able to reach Outstanding after some time.
