Chapter 98 - Eve of the Tournament

Two weeks passed quickly, and in the blink of an eye, the day before the tournament arrived.

The sun was gradually setting. Dusk had appeared over the forest not far from Silver Academy. The forest was very quiet, with only an occasional bird call. Many Pokémon were returning to their habitats. In a patch of woods, the vegetation was lush, the weeds were plentiful, and thorns grew everywhere. It seemed few people had visited this place.

In a section with many towering trees, a young man could be seen standing on a thick branch. This youth had a handsome and clear appearance, complemented by the silver uniform he wore. The most striking about him was his eyes, filled with a cyan glow, which normal people could not see.

Who was this young man? That's right, it was Eichi. But what was he looking at from the tree?

Following the direction of his eyes, his gaze continually tracked forward, through the trees. Suddenly, something flashed before his eyes. It felt like something had just passed by.

Then came another flash. This time, he could see it clearly: it was a Pokémon. This Pokémon looked exactly like a hornet from his previous life, and the twin needles on its hands gave off a chilling glint. It was Eichi's Beedrill.

Beedrill was very alert at this moment; it scanned its surroundings and then vibrated its wings, disappearing once again.

Suddenly, a crashing sound was heard. Looking closely, Beedrill was battling another Pokémon. This Pokémon was entirely green. That's right, it was Scyther.

The two Pokémon constantly chased and clashed at high speeds. The twin needles and scythes cut sparks into the air. Various moves were quickly used one after another. This was the final battle training for Eichi's two Pokémon before the tournament.

Their figures were invisible in the air. If anyone else were here, even someone with good eyesight, they wouldn't be able to see them at all. Only Eichi, with his Eye of the Bug Emperor activated, could keep up with their speed.

The air was constantly filled with "bang, crash, and boom" sounds. It was clear that both Pokémon were very proficient in their moves. Both the speed and intensity of their attacks made for an impressive sight. Of course, all this was the result of a lot of hard work.

Finally, it was clear that Beedrill was not using its full strength. When Eichi judged that the battle was close to ending, it used the Twinneedle move. For some unknown reason, the speed of this Twinneedle move instantly increased by a large margin. Before Scyther could react, it was knocked flying and crashed into a tree.

"This is..."

Eichi looked at Beedrill and noticed that the execution of this move was significantly enhanced in both speed and power compared to usual.

"Could it be Peak level?"

There were four levels of move mastery. Twinneedle had already reached the Mastery realm, and after all this time, it had broken through to Peak.

"Also..."

A significant increase in cyan energy could be seen within Beedrill's body. Its level had also broken through to Elite.

Two happy events at once! Scyther got up and congratulated Beedrill. Eichi said, "Beedrill, both your Twinneedle move and your level have broken through. Congratulations!"

Beedrill still maintained its serious and cool demeanor, but its heart was also very excited and happy.

Beedrill's strength has improved by a huge margin, Eichi thought. Our chances of winning have increased significantly.

Seeing that it was getting late, Eichi took both Pokémon back to the dormitory.

Meanwhile, deep within a certain forest, the sky was completely dark. It was so dark that you couldn't see your hand in front of your face.

In one spot deep inside, a Heracross was resting on a giant tree, sucking sweet tree sap.

Not far from it, two Pokémon were battling. One of them was one of the forest's overlords, Ursaring.

This Ursaring let out a deafening roar, startling the surrounding Pokémon, which quickly scattered. It looked fierce, but its opponent was not intimidated at all. Although it didn't have a loud roar, its aura was just as strong.

Ursaring looked at this trespasser who had invaded its territory and charged. Its opponent raised its arm to block the attack.

The battle between the two Pokémon didn't affect Heracross's enjoyment of the tree sap one bit.

After a while, the sounds suddenly stopped. That Pokémon called out to Heracross, but the tree sap was so delicious that Heracross was reluctant to leave.

Seeing that Heracross did not respond, that Pokémon got angry and slapped Heracross on the head. Heracross felt a sharp pain. Seeing that its "Big Brother" was angry, it could only leave the tree reluctantly and follow its Big Brother away.

It just didn't understand why they had to come out when they were doing so well in the Viridian Forest.

After they left, the Ursaring was left paralyzed on the ground, shivering. Why is this guy so strong? Other Pokémon that look just like it aren't this strong. This is just too hard on a bear.

Meanwhile, in a place not far from Silver Academy, there was a garden. This garden had many Pokémon and Pokémon Eggs. Suddenly, a Pokémon Egg floated down a small river.

This Pokémon Egg was caught in a net while floating and was retrieved onto the bank by a man. The man muttered to himself, "Who was so careless as to drop a Pokémon Egg into the water? Strange, why are the colors and patterns on this Egg a little different from the others?"

Just as he was wondering, someone called out to him, "Hey, let's go! Hurry up and collect the Pokémon Eggs. It's already dark. These Pokémon Eggs need to be sent to Silver Academy quickly."

He replied, "I know, I'll be right there." Then, he stopped dwelling on the question.

At this time, at Silver Academy's old rival, the Indigo Academy.

In an office, a teacher was speaking to an ordinary-looking student.

The man said, "Asen, the Freshmen Tournament this time relies on you. Of course, don't put too much pressure on yourself. Just perform normally. I believe with your strength, you will definitely take first place."

Asen said seriously, "Teacher, don't worry. I will definitely take first place."

"Seeing your confidence, I'm relieved. It's getting late, so you should head back and rest well. Good luck tomorrow!"

"Then I'll be going, Teacher."

"Go."

After leaving the office, Asen returned to the dormitory. His expression instantly changed from a smile to cold indifference. At that moment, a Haunter emerged from behind him.

Asen noticed a slip of paper on the table, picked it up, and read it. It said, "Take action within these two days."

After reading it, Asen handed the slip of paper to Haunter. Upon receiving it, both of them vanished into the darkness.

Eichi knew none of this. He was busy massaging his Pokémon. After the massage, he turned off the light and went to sleep.
