Chapter 241 - Chapter 67: Launching the All-out Attack

Seeing the effect of the Incendiary Grenades, the others also rushed back to grab piles of them and threw them all around.

For a time, the area around the Ready Room turned into a sea of fire! The surging Zombies collapsed twenty meters away before they could even approach the iron netting, which gave the group excellent defensive coverage.

The survivors' morale soared, and more and more people emerged from the ready Room to join the fight. Perhaps Heaven finally took pity on humanity, as a north wind began to blow, causing the distant flames to sway in the air.

"That's wonderful! The wind is picking up!"

"Everyone hold on! When the wind blows the fog away, that will be our moment to counterattack!"

"Drive them out of our home!"

At this moment, everyone saw hope; they witnessed the dawn of turning defeat into victory. Survivors who had been hiding in the rear were so eager to demonstrate their bravery that they couldn't wait to jump out beyond the iron netting to fight the Zombies outside to the death.

As the wind rose, Wang Zhi also clearly felt the number of attacking Zombies decrease.

"Are they retreating?" You Luo said, looking at the few remaining Zombies in the distance.

"If they don't retreat, are they waiting for us to blow their rotten heads off?" Fatty said, swinging his fists at the empty air.

"We finally made it through this," Qin Sheng lowered his rifle, and the tension in his nerves finally eased.

"When you said we should retreat, you really gave me a scare," Gray Wolf said, slapping Wang Zhi on the back.

"Hey, what about that big guy you mentioned?" Su Muying asked, gently kicking Wang Zhi from behind.

Wang Zhi did not answer, merely staring silently into the distance. The mist was slowly dissipating, and around them, some people had already started their premature celebration of victory.

This was the largest-scale battle they had fought since the Apocalypse. Now that they had survived, every one of them felt it deeply. They didn't know what had happened; they had been haphazardly gathered here by the alarm, having inexplicably witnessed thousands of Zombies besieging Dawn City. When the fighting stopped, they awoke as if from a dream.

As for Wang Zhi's group, seeing him staring into the distance without a word, the smiles on their faces gradually faded, and they looked toward the city gate along with him.

Soon, they saw a pair of scarlet eyes staring at them from high up in the distance.

"Cap... Captain Wang! It's that big guy! It's there! I see it!" Fatty exclaimed in a panic upon spotting the Psychic Zombie.

In fact, Wang Zhi had vaguely seen those eyes long ago. If that Psychic Zombie had intended to attack personally, he would have immediately executed the retreat plan without a second thought. However, after observing it for a long time, he realized the Psychic Zombie showed no intention of attacking; it seemed to be waiting for something.

"Why... why is it only watching us and not coming over?" Qin Sheng asked.

"Yes, could it be wary of something inside Dawn City?" Old He wondered doubtfully.

"No... it's just a stinking zombie, what could it possibly be wary of?" You luo was puzzled.

"If it were a trap, it wouldn't understand it given its intelligence. Excluding traps, it must be a natural factor," Su Muying stated.

"You mean this fog? It's waiting for the fog to dissipate too?!" Duan Qingtian immediately grasped the implication, shocked.

"What else would it be?" Su Muying spread her hands.

Wang Zhi glanced at the guards and survivors behind him who had let down their guard, finally fixing his gaze on the commander who had just been giving orders.

"Listen up, hurry up and get everyone redeployed, quickly restock supplies. When this fog clears, they will launch a second wave of attacks!" Wang Zhi said as he approached the commander.

The commander frowned upon seeing Wang Zhi, "How do you know?"

"I don't have time to explain. Take a close look at the city wall. We don't have much time. Judging by the speed, the fog will clear in about half an hour. The enemy might attack early too, so hurry up," Wang Zhi said seriously.

"Alright... All personnel, listen up..." The commander looked in the direction Wang Zhi indicated, suddenly startled. Those pair of scarlet eyes brought him immense pressure. He randomly grabbed the loudspeaker and began directing the scene.

"Captain Wang... are we still running or not?" Fatty asked Wang Zhi in a low voice, watching everyone redeploying on the battlefield.

"Running..."

Wang Zhi's attitude was firm. Since Jie Xi was not here at the moment, in this highly uncertain battle situation, staying might not lead to victory, but if they ran, there was a very high probability of avoiding casualties.

"Everyone listen up, follow me quietly back to the interior of the Ready Room, grab your packs, replenish supplies, and be ready to evacuate at any moment!" Wang Zhi said softly over the radio.

After speaking, Wang Zhi went inside and found their packs, beginning to secretly stuff them with supplies. Suddenly, Wang Zhi felt a tap on his shoulder. His heart skipped a beat. Feigning calmness, he slowly turned around. The one who tapped him was Long Yi.

"It really is you. I didn't see you all outside just now; I thought you hadn't returned. Are you restocking supplies?" long Yi laughed immediately upon seeing it was Wang Zhi.

'Yeah, we were over in the eastern part of the Ready Room," Wang Zhi replied, feeling relieved when it was Long Yi.

"No wonder. We were in the western part, haha. That last fight was brilliant. I wonder who threw those Incendiary Grenades; it was quite unexpected," Long Yi said in good spirits.

"Yes, quite brilliant. But there might be another tough fight coming up later..." Wang Zhi trailed off, not wanting to tell anyone about his plan to leave.

"We won the first battle; why fear them coming back? This time is different from last time; we have advance deployment, and the fog is about to clear. If they dare to come again, just watch me teach them a lesson," Long Yi declared.

"In short, do not underestimate the enemy. Fight if you can win, retreat if you can't." Captain Wang gave Long Yi a subtle warning, said no more, zipped up his backpack, and walked toward Su Muying and the others.

"Are you ready?"

"Are we heading toward the Eastern Sector later?" Su Muying asked.

"Yes. Have Fatty bring the sniper rifle along. When we get up on the wall, we'll do what little we can," captain Wang said.

"Okay.'

fifteen minutes later, Captain Wang leaned against a wooden post in the eastern part of the Ready Room, waiting for the fog to clear.

Time ticked by minute by minute. The distant city wall gradually sharpened into view. At this moment, Wang Zhi could vaguely make out that ten-meter-tall Psychic Zombie standing atop the wall, staring down at the Ready Room!

Once everyone saw the Zombie on the distant wall, the certainty of victory they had held moments before immediately wavered. The presence of this Giant Zombie exceeded the comprehension of some people; even just standing still, it scared several individuals into fleeing deeper inside.

"Captain Wang... It... It moved!" Fatty stammered, watching the distance, trembling.

Wang Zhi's pupils constricted as he saw the Psychic Zombie's movement. "Not good! Quickly, head for the Northern Sector!"

Bang! Bang! Bang!

No sooner had the words fallen than dozens of Zombies were hurled over the city wall by the Psychic Zombie. Several smashed down onto some survivors, while others, thrown inside the iron fence, hadn't suffered fatal head injuries and struggled back to their feet after a couple of twitches on the ground.

Roar! With another earth-shaking bite, the opponent seemed to have signaled the All-out Attack. The Psychic Zombie leaped down from the city wall. The ground beneath Wang Zhi's feet trembled slightly. he turned back to see countless ordinary Zombies surging toward them, following in the Psychic Zombie's wake!
