Chapter 237 - Chapter 63: The Northern Sector Falls

Hearing the alarm, the group stopped, uncertain what message it was trying to convey to them.

"What in the world is going on? With an alarm that loud, aren't they afraid of drawing in more Zombies!" Duan Qingtian exclaimed anxiously.

"No! They *want* to draw all the Zombies there! Right now, the Zombies are too scattered; stationing only one or two guards everywhere isn't viable. It's better to concentrate the firepower and hold the city gate together," Wang Zhi immediately grasped the tactic and continued moving toward the gate.

"Going through this entire perimeter, just how many Zombies are there? And they're still moving so fast-this is a genuine nightmare!" Fatty muttered as he followed behind.

After Wang Zhi and the others walked for a while, they could see blurry lights in the distance. Upon reaching the Ready Room, everyone had a small searchlight clipped to their chest. Numerous teams were gathered there, all replenishing ammunition, preparing to face the battle once more.

"Wang Zhi! How are you? I didn't see you earlier, I thought you were still up on the wall." Wang Zhi, who was queuing to receive supplies, was suddenly called out by Long Yi.

"We just came down a little while ago. What happened to the wall?" Hearing Long Yi's words, Wang Zhi felt a jolt; he seemed to have guessed something.

"These zombies have gotten much tougher! I heard that several sections of the wall have already fallen, and their Guard Team has gathered everyone near the city gate." Long Yi replied quickly.

"That's what happened. We encountered two breached sections ourselves, and we didn't dare keep running around on the wall, so we came down. What's with that alarm sound?"

"The alarm is meant to draw both us and the zombies together for a decisive battle. If we keep stalling like this, it definitely won't work!"

"A decisive battle? The visibility is barely ten meters right now; you can't even tell a person from a ghost! What are we supposed to fight with?!" Wang Zhi was shocked to hear they planned to fight head-on.

"It's true! I heard the Tower Master himself is already at the city gate! They are preparing to open the gates and fight outside!" Long Yi was equally stunned.

"She's gone mad! I think jie Xi has lost her mind. Does she not realize how many zombies are out there, or how much stronger they've become?" Hearing that Jie Xi was at the city gate, Wang Zhi's first reaction was that everyone had gone crazy.

"I didn't expect that Little Yellow Hair actually had some backbone! I thought she was going to hide like a turtle forever." Su muying remarked after hearing the news.

"No, we have to hurry over there. Excuse us, just cutting in line, thank you. Yes, we're in a hurry to fight." Wang Zhi squeezed his way from the back all the way to the front.

The other teams looked at Wang Zhi and his group as if they were watching fools. Did someone actually want to rush out there and offer themselves up?

And unlike queuing for food or errands, when it comes to receiving supplies and going to battle, cutting in line is perfectly acceptable. Not only would no one call you immoral, they would praise you for being fierce.

Wang Zhi loaded ten magazines full and distributed two Biochemical Grenades to each person before rushing out of the Ready Room in a frantic manner.

The group ran to the city gate. Above them on the ramparts, two very bright searchlights illuminated both sides of the wall, forcibly extending the visibility to thirty meters. The alarm was still sounding continuously. Wang Zhi also spotted Jie Xi standing before the gate, accompanied by Wei Changzheng and two others.

they were all clad in iron armor, and the sharp greatswords in their hands appeared even more ferocious in the mist. Judging by the scene, just as Long Yi had said, they were preparing to charge out and fight.

"Jie Xi!" Wang Zhi shouted loudly from behind.

At this moment, Jie Xi's yellow hair was tied up, and a platinum mask obscured her features.

Amidst the alarm, as if hearing someone call out, Jie Xi turned her head. Seeing that it was Wang Zhi and his group, she walked forward to meet them.

"Jie Xi, you can't go outside! These Zombies are not like before! They are extremely fast! They will leap at you!" Wang Zhi shouted loudly, wanting to stop Jie Xi from going out.

"We are not going outside," Jie Xi said coldly.

"Then what are we doing? Do we have a plan?" Wang Zhi was on the verge of breaking down.

"The Northern Sector has already fallen. Before this, we evacuated all the Migrants and other non-essential personnel to the City Lord's Palace. We are here to deal with those Zombies coming from the Northern Sector later!" Jie Xi's voice wasn't loud, but Wang Zhi, who was closest to her, heard her perfectly clearly.

The Northern Sector has fallen? The Northern Sector was where their Citizens resided, and usually, too many casualties wouldn't occur there. However, he had heard from An Qing from the beginning that there were far more Zombies in the rear Northern Sector than in the south, so the rear falling now was understandable.

"Wait! Right here? Are you sure we can hold them off?" Wang Zhi asked, looking at the Zombies constantly appearing on the city wall.

"Heh! They're here!" Jie Xi let out a cold laugh and vanished from Wang Zhi's sight.

When Wang Zhi snapped back to his senses and turned around, Jie Xi had already cut down two Zombies.

The three people following Jie Xi, Wei Changzheng included, also charged forward. Thus, the four of them constantly fought against the Zombies rushing in from the Northern Sector within the mist. The other survivor teams were completely unplanned, all fighting guerrilla skirmishes for themselves; their mission was simply to ensure their own survival. However, the Guard Team had clear instructions and missions, defending the zombies on the sides and exterior of the city wall.

"So what do we do, Captain Wang?"

The few of them stood back to back, illuminated by the searchlights on the city wall, watching the chaotic scene, unsure of where to go next.

Bang! A shot suddenly rang out to Wang Zhi's side.

The shooter was You Luo. The shot was extremely accurate; the zombie mid-air was instantly headshot and fell heavily at their feet.

"I noticed they've started liking to pounce on people!" You Luo said as she kicked the corpse on the ground.

"That's right, everyone be careful. Let's just stay within this light," Wang Zhi said. Their visibility in the surrounding area could vaguely extend to twenty meters. As long as they could spot the Zombies in advance, with enough preparation, these Zombies didn't pose too great a threat to them.

Rat-a-tat-tat! The sound of the heavy machine gun on the city wall continued unabated. The alarm sound was slightly quieter than at the beginning. The Zombies climbing up from the Northern Sector wall clearly had two routes: the first was to follow the wall to the source of the alarm sound, and the second was to jump down and then run to the alarm sound.

Looking at Jie Xi maneuvering calmly amidst countless Zombies ahead, Wang Zhi realized that the Zombies coming from the Northern Sector were generally disabled ones; falling from a height of over twenty meters would inevitably break their limbs.

Seeing these disabled Zombies, Wang Zhi was no longer worried.

Just as Wang Zhi and the others were about to rush forward to assist Jie Xi, a heaven-shattering roar erupted from outside the city gate behind them!

This single roar drowned out all the gunfire and the alarm sound coming from the city wall.

Upon hearing the roar, Fatty's legs went weak, and he nearly collapsed to the ground.

"Good heavens, what is that outside!" Fatty wailed, clutching his heart.

In fact, it wasn't just Fatty; even Wang Zhi's heart suddenly jolted, and the blood within him reacted rapidly toward the rear.

"It's a Mutant Species!"

As soon as Wang Zhi finished speaking, countless roars echoed around Dawn City, as if boosting morale or perhaps lamenting in sorrow.

For a moment, the entirety of Dawn City seemed to have plunged into hell!
