For the past few days, Raichu has been adjusting to his new evolved form.
He is faster.
He has more physical strength.
He has way more electric power. His Thunderbolt is way stronger than it was before.
Moreover, with a heavier body, moves like Tackle, Volt Tackle and Iron Tail are much more powerful.
The only real downsides of evolution is having to climb on both shoulders of Ash, and less agility.
His dodging ability has definitely increased, but not at the same rate as the increase in his body size and weight.
But after being in his teen stage, Pikachu, for so long and becoming so strong in that stage, the trajectory after becoming Raichu is a bit uncertain.
Like the gifted people. Either they go in sharp decline as they become adult, or become much more over achiever.
A Pokemon's evolution isn't just genetics, age or their energy, but their feelings and the feelings of their trainers.
Just like an Eeve can evolve into an Umbreon or Sylveon.
Mega Evolutions require a very strong bond between the trainer and Pokemon too.
Raichu's bond with Ash is very strong. And Ash himself has a talent of Aura, which he hasn't just learnt yet.
Currently, Ash and Raichu are really angry at Paul.
Not only he caught Pachirisu who was just waking up after getting defeated, but also abandoned his own Elekid.
As soon as Raichu entered the battlefield, his cheeks fizzled with electricity, interacting with the remnants of ions in the air.
Ash's aura subconsciously leaked into Raichu.
Ordinarily, this wouldn't have any noticeable effect, as this happens all the time.
But Raichu is currently a bit unstable. Being too powerful as Pikachu is having effects on his Raichu stage.
This is not some game where maxing levels before evolving is good and doesn't have any repercussions.
Ash had even juiced him up after he lost against Brock.
Just as the battle was about to start, a white light suddenly enveloped Raichu.
"Huh!? What's happening!?"
"Isn't Raichu supposed to be the final evolution!?"
Everyone was surprised. Afterall, this was a shocking thing!
But as the white light faded, there was no change.
Raichu was still Raichu.
No evolution.
"Raichu! Are you alright!?"
But Raichu couldn't hear Ash's concerned voice.
He was getting overwhelmed by too much power. Much more than his body can handle.
"RaiiiiiiiCHUUUUUUUUUU!"
He subconsciously unleashed Thunderbolt without control.
Everyone nearby got hit by it.
Ash gritted his teeth and hugged Raichu.
"Raichu! Calm down! Everything's alright!"
"Rai..."
After a while, Raichu passed out in Ash's arms.
"Raichu..."
Everyone gathered around Ash and Raichu.
Nurse Joy's daughter touched Raichu's forehead to check his temperature.
"He doesn't have fever."
Brock said, "It looked like Raichu was about to evolve and failed. Which doesn't makes sense. There is no further evolution for Raichu."
Alain looked at Raichu. Judging by the Thunderbolt's power, he surely is the strongest Raichu he has ever seen.
"He must have been on the brink of Mega Evolution."
"Mega Evolution?"
Paul's ears twitched at the new term.
"Yes. It's not like a normal Evolution though. In Kalos, the fighting Gym's leader has a Lucario.
There are rumours that the Kalos's champion pushed him to mega evolve his Lucario when she was a challenger.
Raichu might have already reached his full potential and gotten pushed into Mega Evolution.
But Mega Evolution needs a Mega stone. Raichu might have suffered due to not having it. Having that stone might fix the issue."
"So where do we find the stone!?"
"I don't know. I have been searching one for my Charizard for a while now. Mega Stones are Pokemon specific.
You should talk to Professor Sycamore. He is researching Mega Evolution and might be able to help you—"
Suddenly, Pachirisu came out of his Pokeball.
He first glared at Paul, hmph'ed, and then walked to Raichu.
When he had properly woken up, he found himself inside a Pokeball.
It was like a small room, with no bed or anything. Just a floor and a hemispherical wall.
While he couldn't see anything outside, he could hear just fine.
And he realised that his curiousity which led to Pikachu evolving into Raichu had consequences.
So he will make things right and find the mega stone for Raichu!
"Pachi! Pachi Pachi!"
He tapped Raichu's head, but he was still knocked out.
So he put his hands on Raichu's cheeks pouches.
"Hey! What are you doing!"
Nurse Joy's daughter shouted at him, but he still did what he thought might work to relieve Raichu a bit.
'Volt Absorb!'
He started absorbing Raichu's electric energy to lower Raichu's voltage. His hardware without Mega Evolution is probably not built for handling so much.
Things might have been different if Raichu had Volt Absorb and normal electricity didn't hurt him.
Raichu's electric current flowed through Pachirisu's hands and entered his cheek pouches.
After the whole Lightning Strikes ordeal, his body has become superconductive and there is not even a bit of stinging sensation in his hands unlike before when he used Chidori.
"Rai..."
Raichu woke up.
"Raichu! Are you alright!?
"Pachi! Pachi!?"
"Chupa?"
"Piplup!?"
"Rai Raichu!"
Dawn, Brock and Nurse Joy's daughter also sighed in relief.
Alain, while reserved, was happy too. Raichu didn't seem like he was in pain.
And then, Pachirisu jumped on Ash's head.
"Pachi! Pachirisu! Pachi Pachi!"
He said that he is going with Ash to search for Raichu's Mega Stone. And relieve Raichu from access Voltage.
The mega stone is most likely to be somewhere in Kalos since the concept was introduced in XY, or Kanto because Raichu is most common there, probably.
Paul glared at Pachirisu and ordered, "Come back to your Poke—"
"PA-CHI-RI-SUUUUUUUUUUUU!"
Pachirisu used Thunderbolt on Paul!
"AAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"
He screamed and fell unconscious, his whole body twitching.
Pachirisu scoffed at the Rude Punk.
Then he jumped from Alain's head, rummaged through his pockets and bags, and found his Pokedex and Pokeballs.
"Pachi! Pachi! Pachi!"
"Huh!? Pachirisu can use Pokedex!?"
He searched through the options on the Pokefex, and found the Pokemon list. And he found 30 in the list. 5 out of 6 slots were filled.
"Pachi~ri~su~"
He smirked evilly and deleted the entire list.
And then, opened his own and all the other Pokeballs.
He released all the Pokemons Paul has!
"Staravia!"
"Chimchar..."
"Torterra."
"Azumarill!"
"Pachirisu! Pachi! Pachi!"
While standing on Paul, putting one foot on his head, he told all of them that they are free now.
"Pachirisu!"
He told them that they don't need such a 'pathetic' trainer as he calls them pathetic.
He pointed at Ash.
"Pachirisu! Pachi!"
He said that Ash can handle his own Raichu's attacks. While this pathetic guy went down in a single attack.
And then he pointed at Elekid.
"Pachi! Pachi! Pachi! Pachi!"
He abandoned one of his ace. He will abandon them too the moment he catches a more powerful Pokemon!
"Pachi! Pachi! Pachi!"
Freedom!
"Elekid!"
Elekid stood in front of Pachirisu. He shouted at him to stop inciting Paul's Pokemons.
"Why are you defending that jerk!? He abandoned you!"
Dawn shouted, surprised.
Elekid got sad again, reminded of the fact. He has been with Paul since he was born.
He grabbed a Pokeball and clicked it, getting caught by himself.
Pachirisu sighed sadly and looked at Paul's other Pokemons.
Chimchar was quietly slipping away, and when he saw Pachirisu looking at him, he ran away.
Chimchar has chosen to become a wild Pokemon again.
"Staravia!"
Staravia flew away. He has also chosen to become a wild Pokemon again.
"Azumarill?"
Azumarill asked Torterra what he will do, and Torterra shook his head. He will still be by Paul's side.
"Azumarill!"
Azumarill bye'd Torterra and left. She has also chosen to become a wild Pokemon again.
3 out of 5 of Paul's active Pokemons left. And who knows how many that are staying away will leave?
Pachirisu scoffed at the Rude Punk.
He is really Pathetic.
