Chapter 25 - Chapter 25: The Quiet Before the Storm

The afternoon sky over Tokyo hung heavy with gray clouds, as if the heavens themselves sensed the tension crawling through the Jujutsu world. When Kurotsuki Tenkai stepped onto the stone path leading to Jujutsu High, the air around him was unnaturally quiet. The faint hum of cursed energy that always lingered in the school grounds felt thicker — heavier.

He pushed open the wooden door to Gojo Satoru's office. Normally, this room echoed with Gojo's teasing voice, his ridiculous sunglasses glinting, and a lazy grin plastered on his face. But now — nothing.

Gojo sat behind his desk, elbows on the table, fingers interlocked. His eyes were uncovered, calm but unreadable. That alone was enough to tell Tenkai something was very wrong.

Tenkai took a seat across from him, breaking the silence."...What happened?" he asked quietly.

Gojo didn't answer immediately. His gaze drifted toward the window where the afternoon sun barely peeked through the clouds.

"Geto declared war," he said finally, voice stripped of its usual levity. "On Jujutsu High. On the entire Jujutsu world."

Tenkai leaned back slightly, arms crossing. "So… he finally crossed that line."

Gojo's lips curved into something resembling a smile, but there was no warmth in it. "Yeah. There's no coming back for him now. Even I—" his voice faltered for a moment, rare for the man known for his invincible confidence, "—even I can't save him anymore."

The silence between them thickened. Tenkai's expression was unreadable, but his eyes held faint empathy. "If I meet him…?"

Gojo turned his head, the faint blue of his eyes sharpening. "Let me handle him."

Tenkai raised an eyebrow. "You sure?"

Gojo chuckled, his tone returning to something more familiar. "Of course I'm sure! You handle everyone else — I'll deal with my old friend." He leaned back in his chair, spinning it lazily. "Besides, wouldn't want you stealing my drama spotlight."

Tenkai's lips twitched. "Still can't handle losing center stage, huh?"

Gojo pointed finger guns at him. "Bingo!"

The tension cracked — not gone, but dulled for a moment.

Gojo suddenly stood up and clapped his hands. "Anyway! Enough gloomy vibes. Let's brighten up the day, shall we? I've got students now. Fresh little seeds of potential waiting to bloom! You gotta meet them."

Tenkai sighed, standing up as well. "You mean you want to show off."

"Exactly," Gojo grinned.

The classroom erupted into whispers the moment Gojo swung open the door."Class! Gather round!" Gojo announced dramatically, his voice echoing. "Today, we have a very special guest. Someone who might just be cooler than me — though that's debatable."

The students — Yuta Okkotsu, Maki Zen'in, Toge Inumaki, and Panda — exchanged confused glances.

Gojo turned dramatically to the door. "Alright, superstar, entrance time."

Tenkai stepped inside. The students froze. For a few seconds, silence ruled the room. Then Panda's eyes widened."TENKAI?! THE Tenkai?!" he shouted, practically bouncing in excitement.

Tenkai smiled faintly. "Yo, Panda. Been a while."

Panda rushed up to him, patting his shoulder enthusiastically. "You're even cooler than last time! Guys, you don't understand — this guy's a living legend! Genius inventor, curse buster, creator of like, half the modern world tech!"

Maki's eyes narrowed. "You mean that Kurotsuki Industries guy?"

Yuta's jaw dropped. "He's that Kurotsuki Tenkai?"

Even Toge blinked, mumbling, "Salmon…" under his breath — his version of astonishment.

Gojo leaned casually on the wall, smirking. "See? Told you he's special. And guess what — he's your new combat instructor."

Yuta swallowed. "Wait, him? But isn't he—"

Gojo cut him off. "Don't worry, he's nice. Mostly."

Tenkai rolled his eyes. "Mostly."

Training Ground – Jujutsu High

Gojo clapped his hands, summoning his students to the field."Alright, class! Practical combat lesson number one. Your mission: land a single hit on Tenkai. Use everything you've got. No holding back!"

Maki cracked her neck. "Finally, something interesting."Yuta unsheathed his katana. "I'll try not to die."Panda stretched his arms. "Oh, this is gonna be fun!"Inumaki quietly muttered, "Tuna mayo…" — meaning, Let's go.

Tenkai just smiled calmly, hands in his pockets. "Alright. Let's begin."

Yuta charged first, cursed energy flaring around his blade. He swung — lightning fast — but Tenkai caught the blade between two fingers, twisted, and flung Yuta backward like a ragdoll. Yuta crashed into Panda, sending both tumbling through the dirt.

Before they could recover, Maki rushed in from behind, spear aimed at his neck. But Tenkai tilted his head slightly, dodging with graceful ease. In a blink, his hand closed around her throat — not hard enough to hurt, but firm enough to immobilize her.

"You telegraph your movement," Tenkai said evenly. He gently lowered her to the ground. "Don't rely on brute speed alone."

Inumaki inhaled sharply. "Blast away—!"

Before his cursed speech could activate, Tenkai appeared right in front of him, closing his mouth with one hand. "Dangerous technique," he said calmly — then flung him straight into the recovering Panda and Yuta again.

The students landed in a pile, groaning.

Gojo was laughing so hard he nearly fell over. "Oh my god, that was pathetic! You kids didn't even make him use cursed energy!"

Panda huffed. "Hey! He's like a walking nuclear reactor!"

Yuta sighed, rubbing his head. "We didn't stand a chance…"

Tenkai simply adjusted his sleeve. "You all have potential. But you rely too much on your abilities. In real combat, your body — your instincts — come first."

Gojo smirked. "See, kids? That's what experience looks like. You'll be learning combat tactics, martial arts, and team coordination under Tenkai here until further notice."

Maki frowned. "Wait, he's staying here?"

"Yup," Gojo grinned. "Whether he likes it or not."

Tenkai sighed. "You really love signing me up for things, don't you?"

Gojo shrugged innocently. "That's what friends are for!"

A Week Later – December 10th, 2017

The world outside Jujutsu High buzzed with chaos and curiosity. The Japanese Parliament had officially passed the National Cursed Division Bill, based on Tenkai's design and structure. Construction had begun across Japan.

News headlines exploded:

"Japan Establishes Supernatural Defense Force — The National Cursed Division!"

"Kurotsuki Industries Confirms Role in Cursed Weapon Production!"

"Ordinary Humans to Combat Cursed Spirits? Experts Debate Feasibility!"

Social media was a frenzy of disbelief and awe.

@TokyoPulse: "Bro… so curses are real?? What's next, exorcist boot camp???"

@NeoFutureLab: "If Kurotsuki designed the tech, it's basically flawless. Humanity's first real shot at fighting back."

@SorcererLeaks: "Gojo + Kurotsuki + Gov = ??? Someone check on the clans, they must be fuming rn."

On live TV, an anchor nervously smiled."The government has scheduled a public conference for December 12th, where both Gojo Satoru and Kurotsuki Tenkai are expected to speak. The world waits in anticipation."

Tenkai scrolled through the chaos on his phone that night, smirking faintly. "People really can't handle surprises."

Aion's voice hummed softly through his earpiece. "Public approval rating for the project: 84%. Resistance from conservative groups: 12%. Online misinformation spreading: 4%."

"Expected," Tenkai murmured.

Before he could relax, his phone rang. The caller ID: Gojo Satoru.

Tenkai answered lazily. "You'd better not be calling about free ramen again."

But Gojo's tone wasn't playful. His voice was grave."Tenkai… It's about Geto."

Tenkai's eyes narrowed. "…What about him?"

Gojo paused — too long. "He's making his move. And it's going to be soon."

The line went dead.

Outside, thunder rolled over Tokyo — as if foreshadowing the storm to come.
