Episode 16: "The Surprise"
The night had finally calmed.
The wind whispered between the trees, brushing softly against the windows.
Ren was sleeping at Hina's house, but the sound of the wind stirred his memories —
a distant image from long ago: his parents laughing, playing with him, then holding him close before he fell asleep.
A tear slid down his cheek as he whispered faintly:
> "How long has it been… since I last felt true warmth?"
Meanwhile, Hina lay awake on her bed, eyes fixed on the ceiling, the moonlight's reflection painting silver shadows across her room.
She thought about tomorrow… and about Ren.
She murmured softly:
> "Will Ren really change… and get better with us?"
The camera pans across their friends —
Kai scrolling through old photos and videos of him and Ren, a bittersweet smile on his face.
Yui fast asleep, a gentle smile gracing her lips.
Mika reading a bedtime story to her little brother in a warm, soothing voice.
And Taki, half-asleep, holding a game controller after another long night of playing.
The screen slowly fades to black… and dawn breaks.
☀️ Morning
As the first rays of sunlight touched the windows, Ren was already awake.
He quietly lifted his blanket, preparing to leave —
but fate had other plans. He ran into Hina's mother in the hallway.
Hina's Mother: "Where are you going, Ren?"
Ren (nervously): "Thank you for letting me stay… but I should go. School's waiting."
Hina's Mother: "School hasn't even started yet! It's too early. Sit down, have breakfast with us, then you can go with Hina."
Ren: "Alright, ma'am."
Hina's Mother (smiling warmly): "Call me Auntie, dear."
Ren (softly, voice trembling): "Okay… Auntie."
Ren sat at the table, watching the family laugh and talk with such warmth.
A small smile appeared on his face — yet it was tinged with sadness.
It was as if he were watching a dream he'd long lost.
> (Ren's inner voice) "How I wish I could live a morning like this… every day."
Then came the sound of footsteps — Hina stumbling down the stairs with messy hair and a sleepy face, completely unaware that Ren was there.
Hina: "Mom, is anyone in the bathroom—"
She froze the moment she saw Ren.
Quickly, she hid behind the wall.
Hina (embarrassed, whispering): "Oh no… he saw me like this!"
Her face turned bright red, hands fumbling with her hair, while Ren awkwardly looked away.
Later, under the gentle morning sun, the two left the house together.
But Ren walked with stiff steps, keeping a careful distance between them.
> (Ren thinking) "If anyone sees me leaving her house… they'll get the wrong idea."
Elsewhere, the others were getting ready for school —
Kai lacing up his shoes, waking Yui, who was rushing around as usual.
Mika walked calmly down the road, while Taki dragged his feet, barely awake.
Mika: "Seriously? You stayed up all night playing again?"
Taki (yawning): "The game was too good… sorry."
When they finally met up, Hina and Ren appeared together.
Hina: "Hey guys, sorry to keep you waiting!"
Taki: "Haaah, you're always apologizing."
But everyone froze when Ren suddenly said—
> "Good morning, everyone."
Total silence.
Taki: "Wait—did Ren just say good morning?! That's a miracle!"
Hina: "That's one point for us!"
Laughter filled the air — warmer than it had been in a long time.
🌤️ At school
When some students saw Ren walking beside Hina, whispers began to spread.
Ren quietly took a few steps back, distancing himself.
Hina: "Ren? Why are you walking behind us?"
Ren (forcing a smile): "I just remembered something I have to do. I'll catch up later."
> (His thoughts) "I'm sorry… I don't want to cause you any trouble."
A group of jealous girls confronted him near the classroom.
Girl 1: "Hey, loser! What are you doing with our queen?"
Girl 2: "Stay away from her, freak!"
Hina tried to speak up, but Ren gently raised a hand, stopping her.
Ren (calmly): "I just asked her for some papers from the teacher. Don't worry."
He smiled faintly — but his eyes were full of hidden pain.
Hina looked at him, sadness filling her gaze.
> (Hina's inner voice) "Ren… how exhausted your heart must be."
Later at lunch, everyone sat eating together. Laughter filled the air again —
until Kai noticed a faint bloodstain on Ren's back.
Kai (thinking): "Blood…? No way!"
Ren caught his look.
Ren (quietly): "Don't worry. I just hit my head on the locker. The nurse said I'm fine."
After classes ended, Hina was suddenly called to the principal's office.
Principal: "Some girls claimed Ren harassed them — and you defended him without telling us."
Hina (shocked): "That's not true!"
But the principal didn't believe her.
She left the office frustrated, tears stinging her eyes.
Meanwhile, as everyone was leaving, Kai found a notebook in his desk drawer.
Student: "Found this in your desk — thought it was yours."
Kai opened it. Inside, he read—
> "I'm sorry, everyone.
You saw what happens when I get close to you.
The moments we shared were beautiful…
But this will be the last time you see me."
Kai's hands trembled. Sweat dripped down his face.
Kai (terrified): "No… don't tell me Ren is—!"
His eyes widened in horror, the notebook slipping from his hands.
The scene froze on his shocked face.
And then… Ren's voice echoed faintly in the background:
> "Death… is the way."
The image faded out to the sound of Kai's footsteps running and the returning rain, slow and haunting.

بدأ الطقس يهدأ مع حلول الليل، والريح تهمس بين الأشجار بينما تضرب النوافذ بخفة. كان رين نائمًا في بيت هينا، وصوت الرياح أيقظ ذاكرته… مشهد من ماضيه البعيد يتسلّل لعقله — والداه يضحكان، يداعبانه، ثم يحتضنانه قبل أن ينام. تدمع عيناه ببطء وهو يهمس بصوت خافت:
> "كم مضى من وقت… منذ آخر مرة شعرت فيها بالدفء الحقيقي؟"
على الجانب الآخر، كانت هينا نائمة فوق سريرها، تحدّق في السقف بخيال ضوء القمر المنعكس من النافذة. تفكر بيوم غدٍ وبـرين، تتساءل بصوت خافت:
> "هل سيتغير رين… ويصبح أفضل معنا؟"
تتحرك الكاميرا نحو الأصدقاء الآخرين —
كاي يقلب هاتفه يشاهد صورًا ومقاطع قديمة تجمعه بـرين، ابتسامة حزينة على وجهه.
يوي نائمة بعمق وابتسامة هادئة تزيّن وجهها.
ميكا تروي لأخيها الصغير قصة ما قبل النوم بصوت دافئ.
أما تاكي، فكان يمسك وحدة التحكم، يلعب لعبة قبل أن يغلبه النعاس.
تبدأ الكاميرا بالانطفاء تدريجيًا… لينتقل المشهد إلى إشراقة الصباح.
حين لامست أولى خيوط الشمس النوافذ، كان رين مستيقظًا. رفع غطاءه بهدوء وتهيّأ للمغادرة، لكن سوء الحظ جعله يلتقي والدة هينا في الممر.
– والدة هينا: "أين أنت ذاهب يا رين؟"
– رين (بصوت مرتبك): "أشكركم على استضافتي… لكن يجب أن أذهب، المدرسة تنتظر."
– والدة هينا: "لكن المدرسة لم تفتح بعد، الوقت باكر جدًا! اجلس، ستفطر معنا ثم تذهب مع هينا."
– رين: "حسناً يا سيده."
– والدة هينا بابتسامة دافئة: "نادِني خالة أو عمة يا بني."
– رين (بصوت مرتجف): "حاضر… خالة."
رين يجلس على الطاولة، يراقب العائلة تضحك وتتحدث بودّ. ابتسامة صغيرة ترتسم على وجهه، لكنها كانت حزينة — كأنه يراقب شيئًا افتقده لسنوات طويلة.
> (صوت داخلي لرين) "كم كنت أتمنى أن أعيش صباحًا كهذا كل يوم…"
تهبط هينا من الدرج بشعرها المبعثر ووجهها المضحك، غير مدركة أن رين هناك.
– هينا: "أمي، هل هناك أحد في الحمام؟"
لكنها تتجمد عندما تلمح رين، فتختبئ بسرعة خلف الحائط.
– هينا (بخجل): "يا إلهي… لقد رآني بهذا الشكل!"
وجهها احمرّ، ووضعت يديها على شعرها في ارتباك، بينما رين خفض رأسه خجلًا.
مع طلوع الشمس، خرج الاثنان سويًا.
لكن رين سار بخطوات متوترة، يحرص أن تكون بينه وبين هينا مسافة.
> (رين في نفسه): "لو رآني أحد يخرج من بيتها… سيظنون أشياءً خاطئة."
في الجهة الأخرى، كان الأصدقاء يستعدون للمدرسة —
كاي يرتدي حذاءه، يوقظ يوي، التي كانت تركض يمينًا ويسارًا تتأخر كعادتها.
ميكا تمشي بهدوء في الطريق، بينما تاكي يسير نصف نائم بعد ليلة من اللعب.
– ميكا: "انت لا تعقل، تسهر طوال الليل لتلعب؟"
– تاكي (يتثاءب): "العِبَة كانت حماسية جدًا… آسف."
في طريق المدرسة، ظهر رين وهينا أخيرًا.
– هينا: "مرحبا يا أصدقاء، آسفة لأنني جعلتكم تنتظرون!"
– تاكي: "هاااا، دائمًا تعتذرين."
لكن الجميع صُدم حين قال رين:
> "صباح الخير جميعًا."
تجمّدوا جميعًا.
– تاكي: "انتظروا! رين قال صباح الخير؟! إنها معجزة!"
– هينا: "أحرزنا نقطة!"
ضحك الجميع، والجو أصبح أخف دفئًا من أي وقت مضى.
لكن في المدرسة… حين رأى بعض الطلاب رين يسير مع هينا، بدأوا يتهامسون.
تراجع رين خطوة بخطوة حتى ابتعد عن المجموعة.
– هينا: "رين؟ لما تمشي وراءنا؟"
– رين بابتسامة مصطنعة: "تذكرت شيئًا يجب أن أفعله، سألحق بكم لاحقًا."
> (في داخله): "آسف… لا أريد أن أسبب لكم المتاعب."
عند الصف، واجهه بعض الطالبات الغيورات.
– طالبة 1: "أيها الغبي! ما الذي تفعله مع ملكتنا؟"
– طالبة 2: "ابتعد عنها، أيها المقزز!"
هينا حاولت الرد، لكن رين أشار بيده بلطف:
– "أنا من طلبت منها أوراقًا من المعلم، لا تقلقن."
ابتسم بلطفٍ مصطنع نحو هينا، وهي تنظر إليه بعينين تمتلئان حزنًا.
> (صوت داخلي لهينا): "رين… كم أنت متعب من الداخل، أليس كذلك؟"
بعد الاستراحة، جلس الجميع يتناولون الطعام.
رنين الضحك يملأ المكان، لكن كاي يلاحظ بقعة دم على ظهر رين.
– كاي (يفكر): "دماء…؟ مستحيل!"
رين لاحظ نظراته:
– رين (بهدوء): "لا تقلق، اصطدمت برأسي في الخزانة… الطبيبة قالت أني بخير."
بعد الحصص، استُدعيت هينا إلى مكتب المدير.
– المدير: "بعض الفتيات قلن إن رين اعتدى عليهن، وأنتِ دافعتِ عنه ولم تخبري الإدارة."
– هينا (مصدومة): "هذا غير صحيح!"
لكن المدير لم يصدقها. خرجت من المكتب غاضبة ومحبطة.
حين غادر الجميع، وجد كاي دفترًا في درج مكتبه.
– الطالب: "وجدته في مكتبك، ظننت أنه لك."
فتح كاي الدفتر وقرأ:
> "أنا آسف جميعًا… رأيتم ماذا يحدث عندما أقترب منكم؟
كانت لحظاتنا جميلة، لكن… هذه آخر مرة تروني فيها."
كاي بصوت مرتجف، والعرق يتصبب من جبينه:
"لا… لا تقل لي أن رين يفكر…!"
تتسع عينا كاي، تسقط الدفتر أرضًا، والمشهد يُغلق على لقطة وجهه المذعور.
تتردد في الخلفية كلمات رين الأخيرة:
> "الموت هو السبيل."
الصورة تتلاشى على صدى خطوات كاي وهو يركض، وصوت المطر يعود… ببطء.
> "لا تنسوا التصويت بـ Power Stone ❤️"
