Chapter 8 - Kai transcends limits

Shinsu's gasp twists into a wicked laugh.

"So you did come back? Just for me, huh?" the demon says, pushing Raikou's head to the floor as he stands up.

"The boy who trapped me inside his own body. The boy who controlled my power by his own will. But that changes now, Kai."

Shinsu points his finger toward Kai's chilling blue aura as it orbits him.

Both of their eyes clash.

I'm suprised how his eyes could change color without him using my mana. Before they held that annoying glare he had when he vanished. And when I killed him, he simply smirked—like he knew something was up. But now it's lik—"

Shinsu chokes, stumbling slightly as Kai's fist slams into his solidified body. He wipes the blood from his face, smirking.

"It's like you've forgotten your own purpose. You don't feel anything, do you? So is it instinct that drives you to fight me?" Shinsu growls.

Shinsu steps closer to the motionless Kai, laughing as his own excitment starts to peak.

"YOUR STRENGTH WON'T LAST FOREVER, SO COME ON! FACE ME!"

He launches toward Kai, swinging his fist at the boy's face. Kai lifts his hand calmly—until Shinsu vanishes. Kai's stone-cold eyes scan the room. Then, a flicker—he senses what's above. Shinsu.

Cackling, Shinsu swings his fist down, ready to crush Kai. Yet again he raises a hand.

"The same move won't work twice, kid," Shinsu sneers, thrusting his fist toward Kai's palm.

But in a blink—slash.

A beam of blue light from Kai's hand pierce through Shinsu's fist. Blood pops as the beam even goes through Shinsu's own neck.

"Atleast he's serious" Shinsu thinks, raising his other hand, snapping the blade in two. He then jumps back on the shattered, wooden floor. He lifts a finger.

"I hope that's not all, kid. Because I haven't even gone full strength yet!"

His finger glows, pulsing with energy.

"You could say I'm levels above you, but for now I have to hide that power.

Why? CUZ IM TOO EXCITED! After all—this is the first time I've felt true.. FUN!"

Shinsu unleashes a small beam of energy toward Kai. It tears through the roof, shaking the air as it closes in.

Kai narrows his eyes, rushing toward the beam. He lifts a single finger, pushing it through the energy—shattering it to fragments.

In the same instant, he vanishes toward Shinsu, unleashing a barrage of fists. Each blow cracks the wooden walls—but each one misses.

Shinsu narrows his eyes, countering with a sharp elbow aimed at Kai's head. Kai ducks.

Shinsu follows up with a spinning kick toward Kai's back. Kai barely vanishes, however he appears next to the demon, squinting his eyes as they fade. Kai fist glows blue, swinging his fist.

Shinsu grunts.

"That little twitch in your eyes was all I needed to know your time was up, kid " he mutters, swinging a fist of his own.

Both punches collide—each one landing clean on the other's face. The impact shakes the floor. But one of them clearly took the heavier hit.

Shinsu pants slightly, turning toward the rain outside where Kai's body lies still. He steps closer, raindrops pattering on his shoulders, sighing as he looks at Kai's disproportionate face.

"Meeting you, Kai, was supposed to be a blessing. I found you as a baby. Controlled you as a toddler. But when you grew, it all changed. Your mana overtook mine, and I became the prisoner—not the host. A two-hundred-year-old demon, locked away by a child. Humiliating."

He raises his hand slowly, eyes narrowing.

"But then again… pain is the main ingredient for a satisfying revenge."

Shinsu's glowing hand descends toward Kai's stomach—

BOOM.
