Lucian's POV
The moment Selene's body went limp in my arms, my heart slammed painfully against my ribs, as if trying to break free from my chest. Her skin had turned cold far too quickly, and the delicate warmth that always lingered around her, soft, steady, unmistakably her, began to fade as though someone had snatched it from her body in an instant.
I kept calling her name with increasing desperation, but she did not move, did not blink, did not even stir.
"Selene," I whispered again, my voice barely recognizable even to myself, because fear had wrapped its claws around my throat. "Selene, please… respond to me."
Nothing.
A hollow, unnatural silence settled inside our room, one that filled me with a deep, violent panic. Then her words finally resurfaced in my mind, words she had spoken only moments before everything went dark for her.
"I… I can't feel Nymeria…"
Nymeria.
That was the name she had gasped with trembling fear.
But who in the goddess' name was Nymeria?
