CHAPTER 14
Cathy's POV
At King's High School
While teaching my students today, I overheard the teachers whispering about a wealthy man who would be visiting the school to make a huge donation. The news spread so fast that even the students couldn't stop talking about it.
I smiled faintly — finally, someone cared enough to help improve our school's facilities. Our classrooms were in desperate need of new chairs, and the science lab hadn't been updated in years. Maybe, just maybe, this donation could change things.
Still, a strange feeling settled deep in my chest. I didn't know why, but something about this whole thing made my heart uneasy. Maybe it was the uncertainty of who the donor was, or maybe it was just the quiet voice in my head that never seemed to rest.
Pushing those thoughts aside, I clapped my hands to get the students' attention.
"Alright, everyone," I said warmly. "We're having a special guest today, so please — no noise, no playing around. I want you all to behave politely and make our school proud."
They nodded, their eyes wide with curiosity and excitement. As I looked at their innocent faces, I couldn't help but smile again.
"Let's make this a day to remember," I whispered to myself — unaware that this very day would change everything.
Jasper's POV
On arriving in Mexico, my business partner pleaded with me to make a donation to a local high school in Tijuana. Surprisingly, I agreed without a single complaint — maybe because I had nothing else to lose, or maybe because deep down, I was tired of saying no to life.
"Take me to the school," I told my driver as we headed out.
The sun was bright, the streets alive with chatter, but my mind was somewhere else — somewhere between regret and hope. Then suddenly, through the car window, I saw two young adults walking by the roadside. My heart froze. They looked exactly like Luna and Lucas.
"Stop the car!" I ordered immediately.
The driver hit the brakes, and before I could think twice, I stepped out and called, "Luna! Lucas!"
They both turned. For a second, time stopped. My throat went dry as I saw the shock on their faces.
"Are you… Mr. Jasper?" Lucas asked, his voice cautious but filled with curiosity.
"Yes," I said softly, my heart pounding. "Please, get in the car."
They hesitated, then slowly walked toward me. I opened the door for them, and we drove to a nearby restaurant. The air between us was thick with unspoken words, but once we began to eat, I couldn't hold back anymore.
I asked everything — about their mother, how she had been coping, how they managed to survive all these years. Every word they spoke tore a deeper hole in my heart. Cathy had done so much alone… things I should've done by her side.
Then Lucas, ever the calm one, leaned forward and said, "There's a hospital near our house where I'm currently working on a project. I want to be a doctor, and Luna wants to be a journalist. So here's our plan — you'll admit yourself into that hospital, and we'll bring Mom there. She'll have to see you."
He smiled proudly, but Luna wasn't convinced. She crossed her arms and stared at me.
"What happened ten years ago, Mr. Jasper? What made Mom leave you?"
Her question hit me like a storm. I sighed deeply, the weight of my past pressing hard on my chest. "It wasn't her fault," I began quietly. "It was my family — my grandfather, his hatred, his pride… and my weakness to stand up for her."
I told them everything — the lies, the pain, the betrayal. By the time I finished, Luna's eyes were wet, and Lucas sat silently, staring at the table.
"We don't blame you," Lucas finally said. "But this time, let's make it right."
Luna wiped her tears, then smiled faintly. "Let's make this happen."
As we got back into the car, I felt something I hadn't felt in ten long years — hope.
For the first time in forever, I felt alive.
And as we drove toward Tijuana, I silently prayed, Cathy… please, let this plan bring you back to me.
Cathy POV
While waiting with the other teachers for the arrival of the school's mysterious sponsor, I heard the distant roar of an expensive car engine. Moments later, a sleek Bugatti stopped at the school gate, gleaming under the sun. Everyone gasped in awe, but my heart skipped painfully when I saw James step out — James, Jasper's assistant — the man I hadn't seen in ten long years.
Before I could even process what was happening, I saw two familiar figures rushing toward me. My children. Lucas and Luna were running as fast as they could, panic written all over their faces.
"Mom!" Luna cried, out of breath. "As we were heading to the hospital to work on Lucas's project, we saw Mr. Jasper… he's in critical condition. He had an accident on his way here. He was the sponsor for the school project!"
The world around me froze. My body went numb. I could barely feel my heartbeat.
"What?" I whispered, my voice trembling. "No… no, this can't be true…"
The entire school fell silent for a moment, then gasps and murmurs spread through the crowd. Some teachers placed their hands on their mouths, others prayed quietly.
Tears filled my eyes as my mind went blank. Even if his family wronged me, even if I swore never to forgive them… I never wished him dead.
"Let's go! Now!" I shouted, my voice breaking with fear.
James immediately opened the car door and helped me in, while the students and staff watched in worried silence. As we sped away, I clutched my chest, praying silently through my tears — Please, Jasper… please don't die on me. Not like this. Not after everything.
The ride to the hospital felt like forever. My heart was pounding so hard it hurt, my hands trembling uncontrollably as I clutched my bag to my chest. I couldn't stop the tears that streamed down my cheeks. Even after everything that had happened — the betrayal, the pain, the years of silence — the thought of Jasper lying in a hospital bed broke something deep inside me.
When we arrived, James rushed ahead, his voice echoing through the white, sterile hallway.
"Please, we're looking for Mr. Jasper!" he called out urgently.
The nurse, startled by our desperation, quickly flipped through her register. "Room 207, second floor," she said, pointing toward the elevator.
I could barely feel my legs as I climbed the stairs instead — I didn't have the patience to wait. Every step felt heavier than the last, every second stretched endlessly. My heart whispered the same question over and over again: What if he doesn't make it?
When we finally reached the room, I pushed the door open — and my world stopped.
Jasper lay there, motionless. His body was covered in white bandages, one leg suspended in a sling, and the steady beeping of the monitor filled the silence. My breath caught in my throat, and my knees gave way.
I moved closer, my hands shaking as I touched his arm. His skin was warm — thank God, it was warm. But seeing him like that made my chest ache unbearably.
"Jasper…" I whispered, my voice cracking. "Why did you come here? Why didn't you stay safe?"
The sight of him — the man who once made me laugh, who once held me like I was his entire world — now broken and still, was more than I could bear. Tears blurred my vision as I sank beside his bed, my fingers clutching his hand tightly.
"I'm so sorry," I choked out. "I'm sorry for leaving, I'm sorry for not trusting you, I'm sorry for everything. Please don't leave me, Jasper. I still love you. I never stopped."
Then… it happened.
"Really?"
The voice was faint, almost like a whisper carried by the wind — but I knew it instantly. It was him.
My eyes widened, and I looked up. His eyes — those same eyes that once looked at me with so much love — were open, filled with unshed tears and a faint smile tugging at his lips.
"Jasper…" I gasped, my heart leaping to my throat.
He reached out, weakly brushing his fingers against my cheek. "You still love me?"
I nodded frantically, sobbing. "Yes. I do. I always have. I'll never leave you again."
Before I could even process what was happening, he sat up slowly and pulled me into his arms. His touch was real — warm, desperate, trembling.
"No! Sit down, you're still injured!" I scolded through my tears, holding his shoulders to stop him. "Thank God you're awake. I thought I lost you."
But instead of answering, he silenced me with a kiss — a deep, passionate kiss that spoke every word he couldn't say. Ten years of pain, regret, longing, and love poured into that moment. The world faded away.
When he finally pulled back, I stared at him, breathless and confused. "Wait… Jasper… you're not injured?"
A small, guilty smile appeared on his lips. "This was all part of a plan — mine and the twins'. I knew the only way you'd come to me was if you thought I was hurt. I just… needed to see you again."
I blinked, stunned. "You mean… you pretended all this?"
He nodded, his expression turning serious. "Cathy, I had to. Ten years… ten long, empty years without you. I needed you to know how sorry I am — for everything. For what my family did. For the pain I caused you. I've tried to move on, but I couldn't. I can't. My life has been meaningless without you."
His voice cracked, and he looked down, tears falling freely. "I became a man I don't even recognize. I drink to sleep, I party to forget — but nothing works. Every night, I see your face. I remember your laughter, your smile, the way you used to call my name. I've lost myself, Cathy. And I'm scared I'll never find my way again if you're not there."
I couldn't stop crying. I reached for his hand, holding it tightly. "Jasper… you don't know how many nights I sat by the window, thinking of you. I hated you, but deep down, I missed you more than anything. I thought moving on would heal me — but it didn't. I still love you."
He cupped my face with trembling hands, his eyes glistening with tears. "I've waited for this moment for so long. I don't care about the past anymore. I just want a future with you — and with our twins. I'll give up everything for you. The company, the fame — none of it means anything. I just want you."
And before I could even reply, he kissed me again — this time slower, gentler, filled with love.
When we finally broke apart, I smiled through my tears. "I'm not angry with you anymore, Jasper. All that's left is love. I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
He smiled — that same smile that once melted my heart. "You have no idea how long I've waited to hear you say that."
Behind us, Luna and Lucas stood at the door, their eyes wet with joy.
That day, in a hospital room filled with tears and laughter, two hearts that had been broken for ten long years finally found their way back to each other.
It wasn't just a reunion — it was redemption.
It was love reborn from pain.
It was us again. ❤️
At the Abyss
The air around the hidden chamber was thick and cold, shadows swirling like dark smoke against the cracked walls. The place reeked of secrets and fury — a place where light dared not exist.
"What did you just say?" the man's deep, commanding voice echoed through the vast darkness. His fists slammed hard against the marble table, sending a tremor through the room. "How are they reunited again?! We must stop them!" he roared, his tone sharp enough to cut through silence.
Another figure, cloaked in black, bowed his head slightly. "It seems fate was on their side," he muttered. "The plan failed… Jasper and Cathy have found their way back to each other."
The man scoffed bitterly, pacing back and forth. His eyes glowed faintly beneath the dim light of the abyss — eyes full of vengeance and madness. "No… not after everything I've done. Not after ten years of waiting for them to crumble. I won't let that woman ruin everything again!"
The other shadowed figure stepped forward, his voice calm but deadly. "Then what shall we do, sir?"
The man turned slowly, his lips curling into a sinister smile. "We destroy everything they've built. Their love, their peace, their family — everything. If I can't have what was mine, then no one will."
The room grew silent again, but the air trembled with a dark promise.
From the depths of the abyss, a storm was rising —
and this time, it wouldn't stop until everything Jasper and Cathy loved was turned to ash.
