Chapter 24: The Court Claiming

I stumbled as Draven dragged me through the castle halls, his grip on my arm bruising and unrelenting.
My mind was spinning, my head foggy as he pulled me down the hall. He was claiming me today in court. I had thought it would be tomorrow, but it was happening tonight. Right now.
But my mind kept going back to the man.
Silver eyes.
It was him. The man from the forest. The man who had saved me when I was fifteen. The man I had dreamed about for years, searched for, been called insane for believing existed.
Caspian.
And he had saved me again—the second time, in the mine.
Why? Why was he here after all these years?
His name echoed in my mind like a prayer I didn't know I was allowed to speak.
But he was Draven's... brother? Cousin? Family.
How was that possible? And why was he here now?
"Keep up, slave."
Draven snarled, yanking me forward roughly when I stumbled.
