AURORA MOON
Aurora's mind whirled. Genetic coded. Enhanced. She glanced at Ryder, saw his jaw clamp tight, his hands clenched into fists against the table. Kellan sat beside her, his arm heavy around her shoulders, but it was the weight of his stare aimed at her aunt that made her stomach squeeze.
Aurora felt suddenly exposed, every cell of her body buzzing with the knowledge that she'd been modified.
Ryder let out a harsh laugh. "This actually explains a lot. There were so many missions that should've ended my life. I healed faster than others, sure, but not like Superman. I could bench more, too, but I always thought it was my well-developed muscles." He crooked his arm to show off his bicep.
"Are you sure it made us smarter?" asked Aurora, kicking her brother under the table.
"Made you meaner," muttered Ryder.
