"Me and my dad always have one little drink on special occasions," Lara whispered to me as we stood outside her father's office.
She was the one who had planned everything. I let her believe she was guiding me.
I had seen how excited she looked at the idea of taking the lead, especially because I wanted to be done with Iris.
"I'll slip this medicine into his drink, and he'll fall asleep. He'll never figure out what happened," she whispered, covering her mouth as she snickered, as if it were something to be proud of.
When she noticed the look I gave her, she straightened her posture and tried to explain herself.
"I used to do that too when I was a teen and sneaking out," she mumbled, shrugging. "He was always very strict with me. I didn't like it."
To avoid throwing her off, I smiled and acted impressed.
"So you'll do it tonight?" I asked and she nodded.
"All that for me?" I added, making sure the plan was solid.
