"Karen, why do you call the Punisher a violent person? Isn't he also a vigilante? A superhero?" Peter noticed the different words Karen used when describing Daredevil and the Punisher.
"The Punisher, whose real name is Frank Castle, was a former Marine, and a training instructor for the FBI after retiring. Years ago, his family was murdered by gangsters. Frank was shot in the head and declared dead, but he miraculously survived."
"After that, Frank became the Punisher and came to Hell's Kitchen, trying to find the killers of his family."
"Not long ago, he and the masked vigilante known as Daredevil destroyed the three major gangs that ruled Hell's Kitchen."
"His philosophy is: if you are guilty, you must die. He once applied to join the Avengers, but Mr. Stark rejected him."
Karen recited the information about the Punisher as if she knew it by heart.
Peter didn't react much after hearing it.
The Punisher's appearance reminded him of an old acquaintance.
Shadow Spider-Man.
Shadow Spider-Man showed no mercy to villains.
Even after the fusion, not much changed. That night alone, he directly or indirectly killed Vulture, Kraven the Hunter, and Green Goblin.
Of course, there were still some differences.
Shadow Spider-Man only killed those he deemed worthy.
The Punisher, on the other hand, held the attitude of completely eliminating all evil.
However, judging by how thoroughly Stark had his information, the Punisher's actions seemed to have received some form of tacit approval.
Perhaps they were balancing the forces in New York's underworld? As for the guilt of killing his loved ones, that's a joke, right? Do politicians even have that kind of thing?
While Peter was observing Daredevil and the Punisher, those two across from him started arguing.
Previously, Daredevil learned that the Punisher was tracking District Attorney Samantha Reyes. It seemed that after destroying several gangs in Hell's Kitchen, the Punisher had obtained some evidence directly linking Samantha to the incident that killed his family!
Daredevil's methods of dealing with villains were also somewhat radical, but he considered the Punisher's indiscriminate killing to be too extreme.
So, he wanted to stop him.
Even if you want revenge, at least get to the bottom of everything first, right?
Just as the two were at odds and fighting, Samantha ordered the police officers to open fire on them.
The two fell from the glass roof, and Daredevil hit his head and lost consciousness.
After that, he was brought here by the Punisher.
After Daredevil woke up, he continued to persuade the Punisher, essentially saying that goodness exists in everyone, and no one is beyond redemption.
But the Punisher scoffed at Daredevil's idea. He believed that his methods were the best way to end crime, while Daredevil's approach was more like a "half-measure."
Is it justice if it's only half done?
Then, the Punisher pulled out a brown-haired man and said to Daredevil, "Now, you have three choices."
"First, you kill him!"
"Second, kill me before I kill him!"
"Third, do nothing, and I'll kill him!"
Looking closely, although Daredevil was completely bound, he had a gun "thoughtfully" tied to his hand, with one finger on the trigger.
Obviously, this was planned by the Punisher in advance.
However, Daredevil didn't hesitate; he chose a fourth option.
Bang!
The gun in Daredevil's hand shot at the chains that bound him.
With a clatter, chains hit the ground.
Then, another gunshot rang out, and a bullet pierced the man's body, spraying blood.
The Punisher casually tossed the gang member to the ground, looking at Daredevil with a mocking expression.
The gang member on the ground coughed up blood, mumbling a question to Daredevil: "Why... didn't you save me?"
Daredevil silently lowered his gun; he was ultimately too late.
Of course, there was no guilt.
This guy's name was Grot, and he was one of the core members of the Irish Kitchen, one of Hell's Kitchen's many gangs.
He had been absent during the Punisher's previous reckoning, allowing him to escape unscathed.
But this guy's ambition wouldn't die. He contacted Samantha Reyes, the official in charge of Hell's Kitchen, attempting to leverage official power to boost himself and become the second figurehead of Hell's Kitchen after Kingpin.
It was just a pity for Daredevil. He could have gotten more information out of this guy and then used his legal expertise to put the guy away for a long sentence.
But now, the Punisher had just killed him.
It was a one-and-done solution, but it also buried some things permanently.
Daredevil shook his head slightly, truly finding the Punisher's actions a headache.
Peter was a bit confused.
Was saving people really this casual? Wasn't this just the same as the special forces of the Bear Country, except they were saving people with less concern for conserving bullets?
At this moment, the Punisher had already walked to the side. He took out something that looked like a shoulder-mounted RPG from a backpack not far away.
But as he pulled the trigger and began to accumulate energy.
The "RPG" began to emit a faint glow. This wasn't a rocket launcher at all; it was clearly a shoulder-mounted Energy Cannon!
Peter stood up abruptly.
An energy weapon!
And it was an energy weapon disguised as a conventional kinetic weapon!
Wasn't this exactly what he was investigating?
"Hey, wait, Mr. Punisher!" Peter didn't continue observing, instead shooting out a web to swing towards him.
"Who are you?" Punisher turned around sharply, the energy cannon he was charging also aimed at Peter.
Buzz—
Peter's Spider-Sense suddenly surged.
His eyelids twitched, and his Spider-Sense warned him that this guy in front of him could blast him with the Energy Cannon at any moment!
This madman… Peter cursed inwardly, but could only force a smile on his face—though it couldn't be seen through the mask.
Fearing to provoke Punisher, Peter didn't dare to make any extra movements. He cautiously said, "I'm Spider-Man, from Queens. Like you, I'm also a, uh, vigilante, that's what they call me."
"Oh, you're the kid from next door," the Punisher lowered the barrel of his Energy Cannon slightly, but the energy build-up continued.
Peter breathed a small sigh of relief, "No, I'm not a kid."
"Kids never admit they're kids."
"I'm not!" Peter protested.
The Punisher said, "Only kids are enthusiastic about helping old ladies cross the street every day."
Peter: Karen, didn't you say this guy was a ruthless killer? Why is he so sarcastic? Does Spider-Man not have any face to save? Karen: ^-^!
